Why I Lose Hope For The Youth Of Today

Okay ladies and gentlemen, before I begin, let me get a few things out of the way.

First off, if you really need to know, I am a Marcos supporter. Now, before you say anything, I’ll just say this: Yes, former President Marcos was not an angel. He wasn’t a perfect leader. He has done his share of misdeeds that ended up causing quite a grievance to our countrymen. And yes, I am also highly suspicious of Imelda Marcos and her hairdo which is probably held up using chemical compounds that are detrimental to the environment.

However, I will still say that Ferdinand Marcos has also done his share of good things for the Filipino people. Indeed, we reap many of those benefits today such as the various engineering projects he funded as well as various systems that has made life easier and more modern for Filipinos. Lastly, as for his burial, he was buried among soldiers and veterans and not the actual heroes of our history so, all in all, his burial lacked the kind of “gravitas” that is due to some of our more vaunted historical figures like Ramon Magsaysay. Besides, all things considered, wasn’t it the constitution as written by Cory Aquino that states he should be buried in LNMB in the first place.

Now what I don’t understand is just what is happening to the youth of today. All I see are children who aren’t even aware of what they are doing. They put up placards and signs with messages that don’t even make the slightest sense. Many of the Anti-Marcos protesters don’t seem to even know just what it is they’re fighting for and instead make their so-called “protest” more an act of vanity and narcissism rather than a legitimate act of defiance. With placards and signs that talk more about their love-lives and senseless insults, these sham protesters are more an insult to the actual victims of martial law than any actual help to them.

Next, I would like to call out my fellow Marcos supporters out there for their apparent lack of respect for others as well as themselves. I mean, c’mon guys, I don’t like the opposition either. I especially hate the Aquino family and that fish-faced monstrosity Noynoy. However, the way you openly disrespect people among the Anti-Marcos crowd is just unbelievable. I mean threats of rape? Really? And I thought I was bad. Ferdinand Marcos himself is probably turning in his grave right now what with the way you openly objectify and verbally abuse women of our country.

I remember writing this article back then, asking if Rizal was right about the youth being the hope of our country. Now, I can only wonder as youths from both factions go at each other on the internet and on the streets with nothing but foolish things to say and do. I can only speculate on what will happen when Noynoy finally kicks the bucket and people start debating where the fish-faced SOB will be buried.

    1. Interesting. Outsourced U.S. government functions was raised on Sourcewatch.org as a suspicious issue. Makes me wonder how much grip the business sector has on the governments of our countries.

    2. Joint venture with private companies had been done before particularly the computerization of LRA where a certified true copy of a tile now cost 8 times compared to when it was done manually.

This is what unbridled free enterprise is all about ! With privatization, deregulation and liberalization, the cost of fees in all government agencies have gone up tremendously.

    1. I believe in the youth, whichever generation they are in. It is the obligation of the rationally critical, eclectic and open-minded to lead them nearer to truth.

Those who condemn the millennials because those presently most vocal among them are anti-Marcos or against the burial of Marcos show only their laziness or inability to present to these young and restless middle class students and yuppies persuasively the blunders, mistakes, errors and abuse of power of the Aquinos and Marcoses.

The Aquinos and the Marcoses only represent the ruling elite of generations who never cared sincerely the about welfare of the ordinary Filipino.

It is about time, we have a new breed of political leaders. DU30 is only a transition president sacrificing himself like El Cid to save the country from certain perdition.

  1. As I have earlier blogged: This young people are BRAINWASHED by the Aquino Cojuangco political axis propaganda machine. This evil family politicized the Bureau of Education. Making students take part of their curriculum, to study their lies and political propaganda.

This is the reason, the young are acting like Robots…much the same as: the Hitler Youths; the Japanese Kamikaze pilots, the ISIS suicide bombers and killers…

Brainwashing is done to get a grip on people, this generation and the next generation. to assure this political entity of Aquino and Cojuangco family will always be in control of the minds of Filipinos…

The only solution is: to pass a law to remove all political propaganda textbooks taught in schools. The Youth must learn to think, for themselves !

  2. fighting alone to prevent a communist take over of the republic of the philippines declares Marcos a national hero. and unless the youths knew exactly who started this mess-up in the philippines, and why it started, the battle between democracy and communism continues as everybody could see now.

  3. The real damage is done by those millions who want to “survive.”

The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves.

Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness.

Those who don’t like to make waves — or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honor, truth, and principles are only literature.

Those who live small, mate small, die small.

It’s the reductionist approach to life: if you keep it small, you’ll keep it under control. If you don’t make any noise, the bogeyman won’t find you.

But it’s all an illusion, because they die too, those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe. Safe?!
    From what?

Life is always on the edge of death; narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues, and a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does.

I choose my own way to burn.

    1. Nice words. Somewhat nihilist as well as reductionist to me. But a fair opinion. No matter how beautiful you want to make the world, you’ll leave it in the end, anyway. That was the message of an earlier article of mine. Maybe more real damage is done by people who want to “make the world beautiful according to how I see beauty.”

  4. Once upon a time, I was young, too, although sometimes I find it hard to believe. I was also in student demonstrations. Frankly, I was not really sure I agreed to what the leftist leaders were saying. But I did not know either that would I place in lieu of what they’re saying. You know what I mean? But it felt nice to be in such a crowd then. It made me feel ‘good, patriotic and nationalist’. Today, I think it is a privilege of the young to “fight for something” even if they don’t understand it as yet. In time they will outgrow that. I would say, let them join the rallies. In time, they won’t have the time nor the privilege to be so innocently wrong.

  5. It is the adults that cause the problem with the youth. Learning in this country is based on whatever the adults want to teach. In my class at an University here. I talked about the Christian Crusades and nearly everyone thought I was telling a lie. I ask about what caused martial law, no one knows what happened before martial law was declared? Politics needs to be removed from the teaching in school and there needs to be an established unified common core of things taught here.

    1. The cause of Martial Law was the N.P.A. was gaining grounds in the battle with the AFP. There was virtual anarchy of subversives, demonstrating everyday. Plaza Miranda bombing by Ninoy Aquino’s buddies. The arm shipment on MV Karagatan, in Palanan, Isabela.

Pres. Marcos was forced to declare Martial Law, to enforce peace and order. Juan Ponce Enrile was the Architect and administrator of Martial Law. Fidel Ramos, was the Chief Jailer of subversives at Camp Crame. We don’t know, if Ramos tortured them, murdered them, or made them disappeared !

      1. Marcos encouraged the communist movement then he infiltrated it with government agents(anyone here remember the cleansing of the CPP/NPA/NDF where those hundreds if not thousands supposed to be DPAs were killed to cleanse the organization ? to create a situation where he could use the Commander-in-Chief provision of the 1935 Constitution.

Only an independent Truth Commission would bring light to the Filipino People the frailty of a legal and political genius whose support came from an educated class willing to be instruments of brilliant mind.

There are no tyrants where there are no willing slaves.

We are fortunate Marcos was deeply superstitious otherwise Cory would have led us to a bloody civil war in her fanatical mission like Khomeini to bring down Marcos. She never cared if the whole country and its people would suffer no end.

    2. Anything that portrays Christianity/Catholicism as oppressive and controlling is quickly swept under the rug because the educators are in bed with openly opportunist Catholic Church of the Philippines.

  6. where is the 6 military trucks full of crates loaded with US dollars intercepted by the yellow army along dewey blvd from central bank that early morning when marcos left the palace, where is the pdaf money used to bribe senators to oust corona, where is the yolanda funds, where is the money from converting 500 hectares of hacienda luisita into housing etc? those should be all returned to the people.

  7. Just because there are people who don’t agree with you doesn’t mean they’re idiots with shit views.

That much was true during the First Quarter Storm, and it remains true today.

  8. Partly because street protests have been overrated. They believe it can change policy. In truth, most street protests only came out after lawmakers were already going to work in changing policies, such as in women’s suffrage, human rights issues and environmental policies. I guess I’ll include the Vietnam War, too. Protests don’t really change policies. But the people aligned with the Yellows want to convince the ivory tower middle-class of that. Thus, they engage in something that they thought was very effectives, but in reality, will likely will amount to zilch effort.

Makes me wonder if our youth are being taught to invest in things that only show emotion but don’t have tangible returns. No wonder we have many impractical and un-streetwise people these days.

    1. No wonder we have many impractical and un-streetwise people these days.

They go to “rallies” that may as well have been a street party. They don’t know what rallies are all about and how dangerous they really are. Kids today – – – – WIMPS.

  9. Don’t lose hope to others just because you have differences I am quite impressed how they fight for what they believe in.

  10. @Grimwald. I beg to disagree on your statement that Marcos is no an angel.

I have the strongest conviction if his performance as president is compared to that Mother Cory and Son Noynoy, it is impossible that he can not be an angel, he may even deserve sainthood !!!

And I am serious about it. 🙂

  11. The idiotic Filipino masses still choosing between the good vs. the bad, never realizing that they are both the same thing…anti-massa.

Until you all figure this out, you will be fucked. At least another 40 years of this is coming, at last.

    1. @AND SO.. I am proud to be part of the Filipino masses. Prove to me moron AND SO that I am an idiot !!!

You might not even measure to my level of intellect. lol

Can you name at least five of the Filipino masses who are certified idiot ?

If you can not, then keep your mouth shut. Do not generalize !!!

  12. We know now that are youth will fight when they feel the need to do so. But to allow them to go on a meaningless battle in that they don’t know what to really fight for is like sending them to war clueless and unprepared. In the end young brave souls will just become wasted youths.
