In just 6 years, Noynoy Aquino’s record of failure is now worse than all of the Marcos years

Filipinos who can’t stop talking about the “horrors” of the Martial Law years under the late former President Ferdinand Marcos are starting to come across as hopeless and desperate for attention. While the atrocities against the victims should be condemned, their cases were already brought to court and won compensation. It is now time to move on to atrocities happening at present times.

Dead for almost 30 years but still being blamed for PNoy's failures

Dead for almost 30 years but still being blamed for PNoy’s failures

Advocates of human rights abuses should understand that the new generation of Filipinos today are not interested in the past because they are fighting a different kind of tyranny that is even more difficult to defeat compared to what Filipinos were facing during the Marcos regime.

Filipinos today are being lulled into thinking that the country is safe in the hands of President Benigno Simeon Aquino and his allies – members of the oligarchy. In fact, as early as 1986, after the late former President Cory Aquino took over from Marcos, Philippine mainstream media and other showbiz personalities allied with her government created the illusion that the country is better off under the Aquinos. The Filipino people have been lied to for over 30 years.

Because the media tend to gloss over the incompetence and failures of succeeding administrations starting with and especially Cory Aquino after Marcos left, Filipinos have become their worst enemies. They have become apathetic and indifferent to the issues plaguing the nation because they have been made to believe that the kind of thievery and abuse now is nothing compared to the Marcos years. That notion is false. Some claim that the harassment, abuse and pilfering of public funds today may not be as blatant as it was during the Martial Law years but it is still happening. Mainstream media is just not highlighting them enough.

Aquino supporters keep harping about the so-called “freedom” Filipinos are enjoying today but majority are squandering their freedom and don’t appreciate how they got it in the first place. The fact of the matter is, the people who went against the so-called “dictator” then cared enough to demand change and they weren’t afraid to die for their principles. That is not something we can expect from a lot of the Filipinos of today. Most of them are just allowing government abuse to go unchecked and are resigned to thinking that they are helpless against it anyway. You can say that they have lost their fighting spirit and couldn’t be bothered to go against the tyranny of the second Aquino administration. It seems love for the country is not enough to compel majority of Filipinos to do something drastic. In this sense, the situation in Philippine society now is worse than the Martial Law years.

Instead of talking about the horrors of the Martial Law years, human rights advocates should be talking more about the horrors perpetrated during the Aquino regime. After all, they are still happening now. BS Aquino’s list of failures is getting longer and one suspects that there will be more to come prior to him stepping down in a few months. Here’s a reminder of some of the highlights of his fiascos:

1. Illegal detention of former President Gloria Arroyo

BS Aquino’s centerpiece for his “Daang Matuwid” is falling apart. Even before he won the presidency, he had been working on vilifying Arroyo to make the case for her continued illegal detention more convincing to the gullible public. Unfortunately for him, Arroyo found a powerful ally in world-renowned international human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin-Clooney. She recently won the case she brought to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention with a ruling saying that Arroyo’s detention is arbitrary and illegal under international law. The court is recommending Arroyo be granted bail and compensated accordingly.

Malacanang is pretending they had nothing to do with her illegal detention even though the cases filed against her were based on trumped-up charges and were done in haste. The UN body also noted that Justice Secretary Leila De Lima defied the Supreme Court when she prevented Arroyo from leaving for overseas to seek treatment for her illness. It’s no secret that De Lima was under pressure from her boss BS Aquino to carry out his orders to detain Arroyo at all cost.

If Filipinos do not see this as a case of abuse of power, then they have lost their moral compass. If detaining a former President under false charges can be done without repercussion, then what chance does the average Filipino have against this kind of tyranny?

2. Thievery and mismanagement of public funds under the guise of mechanisms such as Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and Presidential slush funds

This is an example of subtle ways the Aquino government is using taxpayers’ money unconstitutionally. Ignorant Filipinos — and they are the majority — do not realize how much of their money the current administration has wasted on nothing of substance. Billions of pesos could be unaccounted for because they were given as bribes to members of Congress who then gave it to fake NGOs. So far, no one in the Aquino government has been prosecuted for DAP shenanigans despite the Supreme Court’s ruling that the use of “savings” from another branch is illegal.

In addition to the DAP fiasco, billions of pesos in funds generated from the Malampaya Natural Gas Facility seems to be unaccounted for too:

Malampaya has been supplying natural gas to three major power plants in Luzon and the court decision was sought to safeguard the fund from possible misuse.

Previously, a special audit report cited cases of questionable fund use.

One of these was the P900 million supposedly released to the Department of Agrarian Reform, but was instead allegedly allocated to fake nongovernment organizations. Currently, the Office of the Ombudsman is probing those implicated in in the irregular deals.

As of March 2015, the government has received over P208 billion from the natural gas project since it began earning from it in the early 2000s.

The question now is, what has the Aquino government done with the funds? If it is just sitting around in a bank account somewhere, then that’s proof of his incompetence. He could have used that to fix vital infrastructure and modernize the country’s defense force. I would not be surprised if he has authorized the use of the funds for campaign purposes in order to ensure his party retain power in the coming election.

3. Under the BS Aquino government, the Philippines has earned top awards for the worst Airport, worst traffic and worst country to die in.

And I wish I was making this up. The Manila International Airport or what some prefer to call the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has remained consistently at the top of annual surveys as the worst airport in the world. Respondents to surveys conducted by the Guide to Sleeping at Airports website voted the airport in for its “dilapidated facilities”, “dishonest” airport workers – particularly taxi drivers – long waiting times and “rude” staff. Most of us were not surprised by the feedback. The terms “dishonest” and “rude” are indeed, synonymous with the name Aquino too.

The Philippines under PNoy became tops at being the worst in various global surveys.

The Philippines under PNoy became tops at being the worst in various global surveys.

As if having the worst airport wasn’t enough, Metro Manila was also named as having the “worst traffic on Earth,” according to a GPS-based navigation app, Waze. The result of their global evaluation was also not surprising to the hapless motorists who get stuck on the road for hours on a daily basis. For almost six years, BS Aquino government did nothing to improve road quality and infrastructure in the historic road called EDSA. It’s baffling why the son of “People Power” icons did not prioritize fixing the traffic chaos that has only gotten worse each year he has been in office.

From the same evaluation, the Philippines was also ranked as the 9th worst place to drive in the world. If another global survey was conducted rating the condition of the country’s public transport system, I’m pretty sure the Philippines would be among the worst countries in terms of public transport.

A recent study commissioned by Singapore nonprofit Lien Foundation also highlighted that the Philippines is one of the worst places to die in. Out of a list 80 countries included in the study, the country ranked 78th – nearly at the bottom:

The low ranking of the Philippines in the overall scores of quality of death index was attributed to the severe shortage of specialized palliative care professionals, lack of government-led strategy for the development and promotion of national palliative care, limited number of government subsidies or programs for individuals accessing palliative care services, and limited public understanding and awareness of palliative care services.

The Aquino government’s incompetent cabinet members whose priorities are misguided have only resulted in the Philippines becoming one of the worst places to live and die in. Who in their right mind would want this kind of wretchedness to go on? Only those who have been brainwashed by mainstream media would.

The list of BS Aquino’s failures is long. I can actually write a book about it. But since I do not have time to do that, I will leave you with a link to an unofficial list of his failures from political advocate Showbiz Government here.

  1. The other side of the story?

Cory is much worse thieving compared to Marcos. For instance, post-EDSA president made the Marcos family being amateurs by comparison…

    1. YES, YOU ARE RIGHT, FOR THESE 32 YEARS OF MAD PNOY LEGACY OF A BRIBED BACON BARREL OF SENATONG TANDA AND TONGRESSMAN TOOFAST TO CONVICT JUSTICE CORONA PESO EVALUATION OF THE HACIENDA LUISITA, WAS THE MAIN REASON OF WHY HE WAS BRIBED WITH A SALN REASON TO QUIT..

    2. YES AND AGREE WITH YOUR 30 YEARS ANALYSZATION OF HOW THIS MAD PNOY YELLOW OLIGARCHS DECEPTION, THAT EVEN THE ASSASINATION OF NINOY AQUINO COULD NOT BE REOPEN, FOR IT CAN UNVEIL A 30 YEARS OF MAD PNOY YELLOW DECEPTION COURTESY OF SHULTSZ AND BOSSWORTH THAT DESIGNED THE ECONOMIC HITMEN OF THE CONTROVERSIAL FILES OF THE ILLUMINATI.

        1. ninoy aquino..”marcial” means “martial law” when he was arrested, and detained in fort “bonicacio” thats where he got his aka family name

        2. Marcial Bonifacio is the Malaysian traitor aka Ninoy Aquino, this was is official passport that was used to trigger the works of the Economic hitmen of Marcos destruction of the Philippines.

    3. this was the words that our Great Ferdie Marcos told Imelda ” The Sun will Rise Tomorrow, The Truth shall set us Free” The magnanakaw Senatong Tanda and the 32 MAD Pnoy kulangkulang99 is the real Magnanakaw of Masagana99 legacy of Apo Macoy twenty two years of Greatness, that made our Country third world status of pagpageaters and cemetery dwellers.

    4. yes, you are right for cory had installed Senatong Tanda Enrile and his napolis money bathub auditors, unabated and stays in power for 32 years of MAD PNoy 3rd world status creation of the Philippines. courtesy of the economic hitmen..

    5. I don,t Cory did any corruption or graft, it’s just that she was used being naive as she was by people around her. She was not set to become a delivering president but a transitional one just balancing the powers to stability in which she succeeded…lest we could have been a fragmented country after the regimes of now strongmen leaders were booted out of Iraq, Libya , and the likes. In pnoy case, he is rob ably the worst thus far, hiding all the failures under a make believe matuwid na daan world. Under pnoy, he just imprisoned GMA which was the most popular act at the time for being convicted of her crimes and abuses by the press. By now, her I prisonment and non a tin on her cases maybe the biggest human right abuse any president of the Philippines could have made. Pnoy only reaped the success of her programs laid out for offs, call centers, it, and bpo s, which she has always discussed in her SONA… Sorry to say but these are true.

      1. Yes, cory is actually the only president that delivered what was promised to the people. A new government that will have to educate a whole new generation of being led by marcos be it good or bad. But pnoy became the head of that
Govt that failed in almost all points. It was a reactionary no vision intentional or not that the public saw experiencing worst delivery of even the most basic services in transport to issuance of a decent drivers license and car plates on time. Then the center of it all a pnoy SC that couldnt help but really declared his actions on DAP as unconstitutional. That is a dirst for any president not only in the philippines but the whole world.

        1. thankyou ms.Ilda for these” valuable informations” many of us are ignorance about these issues becoz some of our mediamen are really corrupted or should I say”kip kul lang, dedma “…this is d time for us to face these big changes..lets move-on and support our new leader..RRDuterte is d man of d hour, our hope, our superman to fight these bad elements or should I say, many corrupt citizen of the republic of the Philippines mostly in the government.

      2. Pnoy and Roxas has nothing to do with the growing BPO in the country and they have no right to brag about it.The reason why Philippines is being chosen over the other countries despite bad weather condition, low quality infrastructure and poor assistance and cooperation from the government was that Filipinos are just simply one of the best in when it comes to English communication as compared to other countries having English as the second language. Again, Pnoy and Roxas should not be bragging about this.. give the credit to whom it is due.. matiyaga at matalino lang talaga ang mga Pilipino..

        1. To Cherry Green:
You might have carried it a bit too far..suggesting that the Philippines ranks among the best when it comes to ‘English’, although you are on the right track on the matter. We really should further hone our skills in the language to be even more adept and agile in it. We must bring back ‘English’ as the medium of instruction in all schools. For some two generations now, we have been sliding down in ‘English’ proficiency, therby, incrementally, losing our language advantage over other countries.. thanks to a skewed sense of ‘nationalism’.
I hope that the new Secretary of Education & Culture takes a good look at the situation and take the necessary measures to reverse our decline in this ‘language-of-the-world-today’.

          Sent from my iPad

        2. To Cherry,
Yes you were correct when you said filipinos speak english well. But investors can not just walk in and start doing business without the approval of the government, so YES, it is a combination of Filipino skills and approval of the government in which case pnoy admin played a major role. So the credit is for both the filipinos and the present admin.

        3. Really, you fuck up. The president is the only one that can stop corruption, the president is the only one that can find a way not have a fucker 6 trillion pesos. Really! You fuck up. If the president seen that and knew what he was signing for and have consideration with Filipino people the he should know what the best thing to do to avoid that amount. You are grrrrrrrr.

        4. The foreign investors would not be confident to put extend their business here in the Philippines if Pnoy has nothing to do with the growing BPO industry and the construction industry will not also grow rapidly without the foreign investor. Pnoy is a business minded person which lot of foreign investors took advantage of it because they knew that their business will gain lot of profits that is why the peso value had reached 44 pesos in the stock market during Pnoy’s term. Accept the fact Ma’am. Stop being stupid. Try to review the history of philippine stock market value for the past 6 years. So who should brag the growing BPO industry in the country?

        5. So, where is the money? Why the Philippines is the poorest country in asia? BS Aguino administration had 6 years to make the Philippines a better place to live! What happen to “YOLANDA FUND?” $1.8Billion (About 82.8Billoin Pesos) were donated from outside of the Philippines! How can the Aquino afford to buy Hacienda Luisita? Why was the biggest shabu lab was discovered in Tarlac? and many more!!!

        6. @Ronald :

“The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind…” from a Bob Dylan song …

  2. I think the author is blind and tunneled vision by writing this and blaming all this problem on a 6 year term president …. They are all no good . They all contributed to the down grading of the Philippines . They tried but they are not good enough to make a changes. Now Miss Ilda … Be fair . Write it as it is ..

    1. Just because “everyone else is guilty” does not get the person who’s supposed to be doing something about it off the hook. It’s this type of everybody else is doing so it’s ok to do it as well bullshit mentality that keeps this backward country mired in extreme mediocrity because no one accepts accountability on anything.

The incumbent president may not have started it, but he sure as hell did not do anything about it.

      1. Whoever the President of the Phils will be changes will not occur unless everybody learn to abide by the law.. To obtain a change we should examine first ourselves if we have done even a little to make the changes be enforce. It is easier to blame and critize the President but if you were in his position would you be able to watch each and every one of your staffs. He did his best the dollar equivalent to peso was stable at say 45 who among the pass President was able to do that? He might have some shortcomings but who are we to judge?

        1. Oh, come on, stop defending that a-hole.

This is not about blaming her. This is about her making good on her promises when she was campaigning way back 2010. This is about how people like you are instantly duped by empty slogans. Come 2016 election, you will be duped again by idiotic slogans and this country will keep falling behind its neighbors.

        2. good point as what you says, coz even the president didn’t abide the law as a leader of this country so what do you expect to his subordinate down to smallest individual citizen. and dollars is not the only bearing for Philippines business stability and progress there’s a lot of factors.

    2. What is the point of having a President who is last to know if a problem exists and not responsible for anything that happens ?

      1. The current President of the Philippines very will know how are his friends and enemies.. He miss about his responsibility being a father of all Pilipinos..

    3. What do you expect… Kanino pla gusto mong sisihin? Sa mamayan … This is so crazy.. He was appointed by the filipinos to make the PH better in 6 years in his service.. But see what is the fruits of it.

      1. Filipinos voted for Aquino the same way they voted for Marcos who squandered all the money of the Filipinos and it goes on and on from one President to another so who is to blame except we voters who put them in their place. It is easy to critize if we are not in their position.

    4. @Cezar

You’re the blind one. You can’t see the damage the Aquinos have done to Philippine society. Their vindictiveness has divided the nation ever since they took over the country. It is their belief that they are the only people good enough for the country.

The Aquinos have ruled the country since 1986. Even when the President was not an Aquino, they had a strong influence in running of the country. Remember the time when Cory led EDSA 2 to oust Erap? That was another instance she threw the rule book out of the window. She tried to do it again with GMA but failed. Because she failed, she became bitter until her death. They were allies before but since GMA supported the distribution of Hacienda Luisita to the farmers, Cory made it her mission to destroy GMA and Noynoy has continued carrying out that mission for her mother.

Yes, the Aquinos and their allies have been running the country to the ground for 3 decades now. Open your eyes to the truth.

      1. My god miss Ilda, I know you are young but the Philippines are going downhill when Marcos get sick and Imelda and ver took over the dictatorship . Philippines went downhill after . Why do you think we left the country , just to be a tourist ,,, geese we left because there is no more future in the Philippines ,, it is then and the same as now , it’s not only the Aquinos , Imelda Marcos and the rest that follows are all contributors of what is the mentality of the Filipinos and now your generation .

        1. You keep missing the point, Cezar. I didn’t say there weren’t abuses during the Marcos years. What I’m trying to say is, there are still abuses happening now. People need to focus on that now before the evidence gets destroyed and covered up.

        2. Cezar,

Essentially, we’re all FOCKED UP as an ethinicity. You and I are included in that picture because we’re Filipinos. It’s not just them (the other Filipinos); it’s all of ‘us’ Filipino that are FOCKED UP.

          Aeta

        3. so cezar you escaped along with other Filipinos who thought that Philippines has NO HOPE at all…why just you?

        4. i feel you, Cezar. This post by Ms. Ilda is obviously pro-Marcos. Let’s forgive Marcos, let’s move on, etc. And she blames the Aquinos for every negative thing that happened afterwards. How ridiculous! Sabagay, this is just a blog. I pity her though coz she seems to have been ill informed.

        5. Ms. Ilda.. Everyone here is a brick wall. Everyone’s mind is set. It’s just that some have views based on actual experience and recorded history, while others proceed on the basis of an agenda. That’s just the way it is.. so go for it.

        6. @teresa tumbal: If someone has an open mind, you’re calling him/her a pro-Marcos

I pity that you’re actually ill-informed due to your sheer ignorance and blatant idiocy.

        7. As far as I can recall, the exchange rate during the Marcos time was aroung Php20.+ and the 8oz Coke was around Php2.75… Now tell me Cezar if Philippines was really on a downhill during the entire span of Marcos regime looking at those two figures? The exchage rate alone will tell you what’s the buying power of our Peso compared to the dollar.

Let’s face it, the Marcos regime may have falter on the later part but when you look into the whole picture still our standard of living is way better than today…

        8. Hi Mr. Josh…
The exchange rate when Marcos took over from Macapagal was P3.00-to-$1.00. That’s about a seven-fold devaluation during the Marcos years. Going by this ‘yard-stick’ who do you think was worse?

        9. Then, why you did not come back to the Phil. and live there if the Cory administration is far better than Marcos time?..instead of becoming slave to other country.I was also working abroad,I enjoy life in our country even I recieved less salary.During Marcos era ,even your not a degree holder there are many jobs waiting for you, many investors because they are enjoying a peaceful business environment. After EDSA revolution, all investors are gone.Millions loss their jobs due to sequestration of PCGG alleged companies own or connected by the Marcos or cronies.Six years of brownout during the Aquino’s and who benifits all the big business?the oligarch, their holding the neck of every Filipinos. And where is Hacienda Luisita now?DAP,PDAF,Malampaya Fund,Yolanda Fund,6.4Trilion in foriegn debt. For twenty years of Marcos administration,,only 486 Billion pesos was spend considiring the massive development.Cory spend less than 2Trilion in six years without development,Pnoy budget for one year is Trillions of pesos, where is the money goes?Is there any changes?..Corruptions,drugs,crimes are rampant..For the past 3 decades, you’re still blaming Marcos?..Pls, move on.

        10. wag mo syang patulan cesar or don’t argue with anyone below your level….how will she ever know?

        11. wag mo syang patulan cesar or don’t argue with anyone below your level….how will she ever know?

          lel look who’s talking…?

      2. 32 YEARS OF mad PNOY KULANGKULANG99 OF A YELLOW OLIGARCHS MATUWID ANG DAAN SA CORYKOT OF HACIENDA LUISITA YOU ARE NOT A PILIPINO OF WORTHY TO DIE FOR MARCOS MASAGANA99 LEGACY OF CONVERTING A QUARTER OF A MILLION PEASANTS INTO LANDOWNERS AND FARMERS.

      3. Ms Ilda, you already lost your argument when you first mentioned that GMA was illegally detained. With all that she has done, she really belongs in JAIL!!! And for you to think otherwise tells me how stupid your article is. Don’t even get me started on points (2) and (3)…as far as I can see, you know nothing…thus don’t earn any merit for whatever you wrote.

        1. Just like what “all” of what the Marcoses “had done”, right? Goes to show just how arbitrary (rather than transparent and consistent) “justice” in the Philippines is.

        2. Obviously you know nothing about laws because you always let your emo mindset do the best of you. gma is already not guilty and yet you still want her to be jailed like you want revenge than justice. Blood is thicker than water for you eh drama queen?

        3. @JohnPG

Seems you think you know better than the UN. The organisation already ruled that GMA’s detention is illegal under international law to which the Philippines is a signatory. They have to abide by that decision or else the country will lose credibility. Just imagine if China says they have their own laws and disregards the UN’s ruling on the disputed islands. What is the Philippines going to do then? Cry foul?

I want you to get started on points 2 and 3, please. Prove to me that I am wrong.

        4. Mr. JohnPG SIR, I think you did not fathom the truth of what Ilda wrote about. If we compare the score card of Marcos and Aquino Cory & Pnoy combined, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 as lowest then, Marcos would score 8 and the two Aquino would score 4. You see Sir, in earth life , presidents as leaders of their respective countries are known either a great or a mediocre leader on his or her batting average rather on perfection. Making ” perfect man ” as the criterion of good leadership or governance is either illusionary or delusionary or both on the part of whoever is making a comparison between Marcos and the 2 Aquino~mother and son, who became the president respectively. This is what I understand from your response to the article of Ilda. What sayeth fellow Netizen?

        5. @Manuel G. Ching:

You’re exaggerating too much. Either you’re missing the point… or you’re just TROLLING. I think it’s the latter. Go figure.

        6. @JohnPG

Looks like you ate your words now that gloria has been proven innocent of all the charges the past president has filed against her.

        7. Ask Miss Suan Roces if GMA does not deserve to be jailed.

Just tell Miss Susan Roces to SHUT UP.

          :^)

      4. Make any criticism about this country, I bet you there will be some saying: “puro ka reklamo, kung ayaw mo dito umalis ka nalang ng bansa!” or “e ikaw? ano nagawa mo?” which just goes to show how insecure pinoys truly are.

        No one needs your approval.

      5. The Mad Pnoy FAMILY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY HAD SUCCESSFULLY FOOLED THE PILIPINO PEOPLE FOR 32 YEARS, THEY HAVE RETAINED THEIR NINAKAW NA HACIENDA LUISITA DURING ANTONIO LUNA TIMES VIA ISIDRA AQUINO OF THE PHILIPPINE TREASURY. THEY HAVE MADE THE PHILIPPINES 3RD WORLD COUNTRY WITH THE AID OF SENATONG TANDA AND HIS NAPOLIST LIST OF MONEY BATHUB AUDITORS.

      6. YES MIS ILDA, THE 32 YEARS OF MADPnoy hacienda luisita self interest deception is the system of corruption for three decades, it was revealed in the controversial files of the illuminati, titled the economic hitmen of the Philippines by Shultz and bossworth that connived with japan, to create the third world country of pagpag eaters and cemetery dwellers.

      7. yes, the 32 years of MADPNOY hacienda luisita self interest of its landgrabbing history of greedy hacienderos and their allies are running the country to the Ground of making this country a third world status of Senathieves and Representathieves and Aquino Couangco Relathieves, as what marcos said to his maganda Imelda, “Sweetheart after 30 years the truth will set us free” as what his forebears said.

      8. Your article didn’t help. Your are not enlightening the people. You are blinding them with your bias opinion. What is your hidden agenda of comparing the past and present administration. Does your article help the economy grow? Does it promote the Philippines? I don’t think so. If you really want to influence people, write something inspirational. Otherwise, you are only dividing the Filipino people with your negative articles.

        1. Forex Mind

Negative? Why do you consider this article negative? Please be specific.

The people’s sentiments are already divided. There are already a lot of people who can see through Noynoy’s deception. I was merely pointing out what some fail to realise. Consider me an observer of what is going on in Philippine society. 😉

      9. @ilda, its good to hear about the truth of the past but if telling the truth about the past would change our sysyem of government, i think nobody will buy it. If duterte wins as president and change our system, dont you think it would be worst than aquino? The aquinos have led our country so be it. We just have to move on. They were voted by the filipino people and this is the truth that we must live with. Marcos is a part of history and his leadership will always be remembered. If we keep pointing out who made the worst history of our country, we should always remember that it is “us” people who gave them the seat. So whats your point of telling these stories? To make people aware? And make people think that we should change our system and leadership and etc…. then our country will start again from the beginning? You dont like the aquino so you dont want to continue what he has started and start all over again. So what if the oligarchs ruled our country? It is the people who appointed them. Dont blame the aquinos for the misfortune of our country, blame your fellow countrymen.

        1. If you’re talking about federalism, it’s not going to be worst than Aquino. Based on our geographical location, I think it’s best for the country plus it is in that system we pay less taxes compared to unitary. Take Malaysia as an example of a federal government in Asia. Though it may have some ups and downs, it’s worth to try and change for our country. If it isn’t federalism, then what is it that is worst? And about the Filipinos, you were right it is definitely our fault to be manipulated that easily. There are Filipinos who aren’t blind, some of us are just stubborn ???? which brings misfortune to our country

        2. yes, this was the works of Martial Bonifacio and his forty Senathieves and Representathieves that brought havoc to the Philippine Economy from Apo lakay Marcos Masagana99 twenty two years of Great Nation Philippines into 32 years of MADpNOY YELLOW OLIGARCHS FAMILY OF KULANGKULANG99 THIRD WORLD STATUS COUNTRY.

        1. Funny. All Noynoy did is blunders, blame games and any kind of incompetence. And yes, keep on overrating on the “massive debt” stuff w/o knowing things like “sovereign debt” and not even realizing that Cory never borrowed money… to give back social services either!

Oh look, you’re President Abnoy borrowed trillions yet never spend it. What do you call that, son?

P.S. Your post is the perfect definition of crap. Deal with it.

      10. Exactly my observation Iida. These Aquinos twisted the thinking of the people and lured us to what they call Democracy. A democracy for their fellow Oligarchs. Yes GMA might have abused her power but she did a lot and one cannot discount that. The economic fiscal reforms she made paced the way for this country to enjoy the growth and credit upgrade. Not to mention our modern heroes our OFWs. OFW remittances and BPO revenues are main drivers of this economy. I fight for the farmers of Luisita. It’s been 40 long years. And GMA did the right thing. But Cory the evil one conspired to oust her. That is why the first thing Pnoy did during his term was to ensure the impeachment of Corona. These Aquinos will do everything I their power to ro text their estate which technically did not belong to them. The same reason why they hate the Marcoses to the bones. I am sick of them and I am sick of hearing Cory is a saint. We will be at peace if the NAIA will go back to its original name Manila International Airport and all the rest that were named after Cory. I can’t wait for Duterte to win because he is the only one being feared by the Oligarchs. He will not be manipulated. To hell with the yellow family who oppressed the Filipinos.

The same reason these Aquinos hate the Marcoses to the bones. Marcos wanted to give Luisita back to the farmers. I am sick of them and I am sick of hearing Cory is a saint. To hell with the yellow family who oppressed the Filipinos.

      12. Obviously written by somebody who has a grudge against the aquinos. Or maybe just an in to the marcoses. Why harp against the aquinos in particular? Just asking.

      13. GMA is corrupt president!
        Erap is a plunderer!
Revilla & Enrilee are also same bad bananas
They were all imprisoned by the Aquino admin for the people sake…
What you need for? Are you also one of them (Ilda) like the Marcoses?

        1. @Teodoro:

          Very funny.

GMA is corrupt? But why isn’t she convicted of corruption when most of the charges against her are dropping like flies.
          Erap IS a convicted plunderer.
Revilla is in jail and Entire bailed out.
And, they’re not imprisoned by the Aquino’s for the people’s sake. In fact, it’s for their own selfish gains to continue deceiving the people. That’s what we call SELECTIVE JUSTICE.

Son, congratulations. You just went FULL RETARD with what you wrote.

      14. History was/is/will be much more kind to Ninoy, Cory & Pnoy Aquino. Ninoy’s martyrdom deposed one-man rule dictatorship of Marcos, one of the world most corrupt leader, $10b amount stolen; restored democracy: freedom of the press,of religion, to vote, freedom of speech w/c you now enjoy w/o fear of imprisonment or perished never to be seen again as it was for hundreds of students, etc. during martial law. Edsa peaceful power revolution was the proudest moment in the history of the Phl. & the world. It was followed by the collapsed of the Soviet Union, the collapsed of the Berlin Wall–reunification of the East & West Germany, the democratization of So. Korea, the changed to market economy–easing of political imprisonment in China, etc. Sadly, some people have very short memory of dictatorship & Martial Law. Democracy may it remains so for d next 6yrs. & beyond for Christ sake. Mabuhay Liberty & Freedom! God Bless Filipinas!

    5. it was 12 years in the making, since Cory ,they contributed nothing but wealth to their families, friends ,in laws and classmates.as one said, the Philippines is inhabited by 100million stupids for being fooled by stupid President.

      1. THEIR GREATEST LEGACY IS THE KULANGKULANG99 THE DUMBDOWNING OF PILIPINOS OF KILLING THE HACIENDA LUISITA FARMERS AND CREATING PILIPINO STATUS OF 3RD WORLD COUNTRY, THEY CONNIVED WITH THE SHULTZ AND BOSSWORTH AND TWO COUNTRIES JAPAN AND MALAYSIA. THEY HAVE REPLACE MARCOS MASAGANA99 LEGACY OF CONVERTING A QUARTER OF A MILLION PEASANTS INTO LANDOWNERS AND FARMERS.

    6. The author wants us to move on and forget Marcos’ reign of terror, and seems to be Revisionist historian. No past president can ever come close to Marcos’ corruption, cryonism, plunder, and blatant disregard for human rights. True, Marcos is undoubtedly the smartest Philippine president but he’s also the best propagandist and manipulator.

      http://www.interaksyon.com/article/71190/martial-law-remembered–where-did-marcos-go-wrong-and-when-did-we-start-forgetting

      1. TROLL. 🙂

Marcos is a crook because he was pointed being one by media pundits but let’s not forget Cory and her crookery while in office and everything she had done so idiota like you would still believe in the Aquino.

Because only gullible fools would believe in the Aquino magic and hype. That and everything that has a last name on them.

P.S. Seems you’re happy that hungry farmers were given BULLETS instead of rice. So what’s the difference? Of course, NONE.

      1. Says the one whose comments are total shit. You won’t be surprised if you’re an attention-seeking whore. You also have sex with a lot of men.. 🙂

    7. But most of us agree with the author…. The present leadership has done almost nothing in office. We are as if having no leader at all because the incumbent man at the helm doesn’t know how to lead, doesn’t have any clear program of government but just taking credit for what his predecessor had started and or established. Worst of all, there were small but easy things they failed to handle and manage which had tarnished our image in the international community. Such were the blunders they have committed in handling crisis situations. What have they done to solve the hostage taking at Luneta at the early part of this administration? A very simple case of miscommunication with the hostage taker, an awarded police officer who had a problem with his retirement benefit because of a pending case. The President was near the scene when the killing took place where about 8 HK tourists perished. Another incident happened more than a year ago involving the death of 44 SAF men of the PNP. Had these leaders were quick enough in their decisions and actions, these incidents could not have been bungled………

    8. I agree with you Cesar. These people who are making this news are corrupt because they are paid to this news hhahahaha they are losers that nothing can do!

      1. Nah, what’s even funnier is that you’re an actual loser since you’re gullible and stupid. Your comment is an evidence of that. Deal with it.

    9. Right .Ms. Ilda ,pls. use your God given talent in writing by giving the 2 sides of the coin … don’t be one sided !

    10. you are correct cezar, shame on this author who talked too much about the two with little knowledge about the past and absorbing not the true humanity and the real meaning of leadership and comparing them unfairly. 20 yrs. vs 6 yrs? and she exceedingly judging hahaha!
read this ilda from the wiki:
The policy of martial law was initially well-received, but it eventually proved unpopular as the military’s human rights abuses (use of torture in intelligence gathering, forced disappearances), along with the decadence and excess of Marcos allies, had emerged. Coupled with economic downturns, these factors fermented dissent in various sectors (e.g. the urban middle class) that crystallised with the assassination of jailed oppositionist senator Benigno Aquino, Jr. in 1983, and widespread fraud in the 1986 snap elections. These eventually led to the 1986 People Power Revolution that ousted Marcos and forced him into exile in Hawaii where he died in 1989; his rival presidential candidate and Aquino’s widow, Corazon, was installed as his successor.

During this 9-year period, curfews were implemented as a safety measure. Majority of radio and television networks were suspended. Journalists who were accused of speaking against the government were taken as political prisoners, some of them to be physically abused and tortured by the authorities.

Others have stated that the implementation of Martial Law was taken advantage by the Marcos regime. Billion pesos worth of property and ill-gotten wealth was said to be acquired by Marcos’ wife, Imelda Marcos. This alleged money laundering issue was brought back recently, particularly in the PiliPinas Debates 2016 for the recently-held Philippine Presidential Elections on May 9, 2016. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., Marcos’ son, ran for Vice President and lost

      1. You and cezar are not even correct. Of course, you would say that since you are totally one-sided and not to bother to look at both sides of the story. And since you’re a Yellow Zombie, the joke’s on YOU!

        kek

      2. It looks like we still have a noytard straggler who still thinks that his trolling is going to defend his ex president.

He’s in for a big disappointment.

Too bad for the noytard, he no longer has any reason to keep propagating his misguided propaganda now that his boss is out of office.

    1. yellowtard apologist detected.

how is a person’s geographical location reduce the veracity of his/her argument?

maybe try presenting valid counterarguments to the points in the article instead of resorting to mind-numbing name-calling that is the hallmark of a yellowtard zombie.

    2. A reader on another article, posted the following, all of which are practical course of action you many want to take:

      1. Commit suicide
      2. Migrate overseas
      3. Launch a revolution

My suggestion: First, do number 2, if not successful, do number 3. When all else fail, do number 1; you’ll definitely be out your misery!!! Peace.

    3. @Samuel

Gees…just because I criticise the current government doesn’t mean I am a “Marcos dynasty fantard”. Tsk tsk…

It’s weird that that’s all you can say after reading the article. You can’t even dispute the points raised about PNoy’s failures.

        1. Please read the article again. This time very carefully. You should realise that I did not “rewrite” history.

    4. NO I AM NOT A MARCOS FANTARD, BUT A MAN THAT WAS SUPPORTED BY MARCOS RIGHT HAND MAN, NON OTHER THAN ASYMBLEMAN OGUING NAVARRO WHO DIED A TRUE MARCOS LOYALIST. FOR HE KNOWS APO MARCOS MASAGANA99 LEGACY OF HELPING POOR PEOPLE LIKE US. I HAVE MIGRATED TO AUSTRALIA FOR A BETTER GOVERNMENT SUPPORT. AND MY ONLY WISH IS THAT THE PHILIPPINES WOULD BE GREAT AGAIN BY GETTING RID OF ALL THESE CORRUPT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, STARTING FROM MAD PNOY bribe and bacon barrel legacy and senatong tanda and his Alibaba napolist money bathub auditors.

      1. Whoever initiate the land reform since Marcus erase will always stop by the money of the Aqui no and the Cojuangco. How the he’ll nobody prosecuted on the massacre at the Hacienda Luisita gate. It’s all covered by the Aquino/Cojuangco rulers. I was only newly graduate when I was sent to Puerto Princesa in 1975 and I was told that the Malampalatay oil n gas reserves will make us I dependent country on oil n gas reserves. This is where all the one of the biggest money were being stolen for the corrupt politician.

  3. Marcos won over 986 cases hurled against them by both US and Philippine governments. That’s the simple explanation.

      1. Prove it please. I have heard this immediate conclusion and rationalization so many times on how the Marcoses won those cases despite the all the evidence and witnesses. It’s more like an expected excuse nowadays.

    1. He didn’t win. He died. Imelda got away. The only thing we can do now is recover the money that was stolen and compensate the victims. We already hve $4 Billion. 6 more to go.

        1. Marcos is history…to speculate on any amount that was lost, during Marcos era, is ridiculous; any YellowTard could just put figures or amount, as a distraction of the present thievery of Aquino and his cahoots.

Let us live in the present. the past is gone.

        2. It is like the “wooden leg ” syndrome in Psychology. The YellowTards, tell people: “we cannot do this because of our “wooden legs”…or “we cannot move on, because Marcos, stole this amount..” What a stinking thinking!

        3. Like I said, if you add up the billions that the oligarchs have stolen and will steal in the next few years, to what Marcos had stolen when he was in power, everyone will be very surprised.

      1. Maybe next time include your sources below your article Ms. Ida. That way you can shut their trap about your article 🙂

  4. One ought to have been born before 1965 for one to understand and ‘appreciate’ the period of the ‘conjugal dictatorship’. Those who were born much later, say the late 1970s, wouldn’t have the foggiest about those difficult, uncertain and perilous times. To write anything about that period, he/she would have to depend largely on readings and handed-down accounts, and would have the impossible task of winnowing fact from fiction. Those times had to be actually lived through for it to be ‘appreciated’.
To say that this administration is worse than all of the ‘Marcos Years’ is not only a stretch, it is hyperbole. Heaven knows that this administration is both a partner and a root cause of so many sins.. both of omission and execution.. but all that does not come to a fraction of the crimes then committed, only a handful of which have, thus far, been adjudicated. One thing, though, is quite certain. This writer wouldn’t have been able to write another blog if we were living in those “difficult, uncertain and perilous” times.

      1. I have friends who were imprisoned just by speaking out against martial law or the governments, I have friends who were killed for their beliefs, disappeared mysteriously. We were all scared. There is now way the Aquino for all the mentioned issues could be worse than the atrocities Marcos did.

        1. Martial law “horror stories,” some of them, tend to be exaggerated. My grandparents and relatives during that time also had misgivings about the Marcos regime but they didn’t disappear. No police force rappelled down from the rooftops to arrest family members, nothing of the sort happened.

        2. @Joey

We’re talking about “failures” and not just the target killings and disappearance of individuals.

How many people died in Yolanda tragedy? How many people died at Mamasapano? How many more people die as a result of gross negligence and incompetence of this government everyday? Etc..

        3. @Ilda, “How many people died in Yolanda tragedy”, are you kidding me with your logic?. I guess PNoy went to a witch doctor to summon the biggest typhoon in history or has a secret weather control satellite.

    1. I was born March 23, 1953. I’ve witnessed a drug lord gunned down in national tv during Marcos’ term. I followed the law and I’m still alive today. If such are the atrocities during martial law, answer me this, if someone is an enemy of the state during those times, presumably, those people would have magically disappeared by then right? How come that Bernabe Buscayno aka Kumander Dante, founder of NPA, never disappeared back then? If such were human rights violations back in martial law years, aren’t you a bit baffled that he’s not one of the victims?

2. @Vagoneto Rieles

Just because I was not around in 1965 doesn’t mean I cannot appreciate the gravity of the current adminsitration’s failures. The problem with people like you, it seems, is that you are stuck in the past. You should move on and focus on violations PNoy and his cohorts are doing.

Like I mentioned earlier to someone else: The Aquinos have ruled the country since 1986.

Their Open your eyes to the truth.

      1. If you were born after 1965.. sure enough.. you would fully appreciate the six-year ‘Noynoy Presidency’, (wasn’t this what you referenced?) You, however, would have to depend on written accounts and ‘second or third-hand’ stories if you were to write about the ‘Marcos Years’.. twenty-some years of it. On the matter of the Hacienda Luisita, I share your sentiments on its being exempt from the CARP.. unlike all other land owners who had neither money nor connections. On Erap, though, I must say that if everyone else were present at the rally, why not Cory?
Finally, is it fair to conflate the Ramos, Erap and Gloria years with the Noynoy ones? Don’t you think that that would be reaching?

        1. Vagoneto Rieles

You’re not making any sense. Just because people from younger generation have to rely on written accounts during Martial Law years, doesn’t mean not one of them can fully grasp what happened then. Of course those who are cluey enough can understand what happened. But we can’t be forever talking about it.

We can’t keep living in the past. There are still abuses happening now and people like you are just glossing over it because you think the Aquinos are “better” in your mind.

Cory led the ousting of Erap and then apologized for doing so later. That says a lot about her irrational behaviour. She was very emotional. She regretted backing GMA because GMA supported the distribution of Hacienda Luisita.

Like I said earlier, even when Aquinos where not sitting in Malacanang, they had a strong influence in running the country because they are allied with owners of mainstream media and can destroy anyone they didn’t like just like what happened to GMA, Corona and Binay. They also have allies in powerful positions in govt and private sectors.

        2. I was born in 1954 but compared to today and the Marcos regime i appreciate more the Marcos regime than this Aquino’s regime.

        3. Yes, I am a true Marcos loyalist, for my uncle Oguing Navarro is the true Marcos loyalist, he never abandoned Marcos even when they have left him in Manila. he was my true revealing factor. He had envisage in my dreams to find a way to research the information highway of what really happens in the realm of Philippine politics

        4. You and your loved ones must have ‘toed the line’, kept your mouth shut and had gone along with what was allowed then. This, pretty much assured you of safe passage to and through places permissible then. Some others, though, insisted in the freedoms they had been used to.. which freedoms were consistent with the 1936 constitution which was in effect then.. and we’re marked for ‘disciplinary action’ being ‘hard cases’, ‘recalcitrants’ and ‘recidivists’. Most of these were last seen leaving their homes for school, or leaving their offices to board a military jeep on the ‘invitation’ of some military officer. That was the ‘last time’ that they were seen.
Like yourself, my family and I weathered the ‘storm’ in much the same way. Were those who were ‘last seen’ ever wrong in insisting in their freedoms? I should say not.
We obviously differ in our perceptions. Then, again.. this is a market place of opinions; and, you have yours as I have mine.

          Sent from my iPad

    3. Then there really is no value talking about, say, ancient history now because no presently living person can possibly claim to have lived through those ancient times. I suppose it’s like the argument that goes no one can really say or write about cancer unless he or she has lived having the disease?

    4. @Vagoneto Rieles

“One ought to have been born before 1939 for one to understand and ‘appreciate’ the period of ‘World War II’. Those who were born much later, say the late 1950s, wouldn’t have the foggiest about those difficult, uncertain and perilous times.”

    5. just google Masagana99 and kulangkulang99, and their you can analyse and think that of what our former country is now in the verge of a pagpag eaters and cemetery dwellers because of this MAD PNOY bribe bacon barrel, he even hide the children from pope francis, so he can fool the pope, that our country is not a third world status of his makings.

  5. Also helped by Cory’s failures. A major one is instead of repudiating Marcos’ debts to the World Bank, she agreed to pay them off. As a result, we the people are burdened with that debt to this day.

    1. You obviously know nothing. Have you ever thought about the implications if we did not honor our debts to international funding agencies? We would lose access to avail credit from international agencies.

    2. yes, cory connived with Japan that made our foreign debt balloon to 5 billion, for she doesn’t want competition against meralco, their families have looted the funds of PLDT,PAL, and the rest of the marcos cronies wealth.

    1. Thanks for the link. Well, it’s another policy that PNoy seems to be giving a green light even without asking the people. The members of congress who represent the people should be voicing their concerns over this deal.

      1. I guessed you could have just focus on the failures of Aquino’s government instead of doing a comparison between the two incumbency. If your article’s intention was to bring to the public’s attention currents problems of the country, you could have heeded your own advise (“But we can’t be forever talking about it”)
and left the Marcos years out of it.By doing so, it created an illusion of bias and partisanship.

        1. Ms Glenda

You may not be familiar with my previous articles focusing on specific failures of the Aquino government. Please be informed that I have a lot of those.

This particular article of mine is highlighting the people’s tendency to turn a blind eye to the abuses going on at present just because they “think” it is nothing compared to the Martial Law years.

Whatever “partisanship” you think is in the article is only in your imagination. I am not promoting the Marcoses. I just want people to talk more about the abuses happening now. That’s why I didn’t see the point in enumerating anymore the “horrors” of the Martial Law years.

The only thing biased here is my bias against people who are turning a blind eye to PNoy’s failures.

  6. Woww, Ilda, this is hidden from the Philippine public I assume .. This is a type of issue this GRP bloggers need to spread all over Philippines , this is what you call utang na loob to Australians , Filipino bad habits I bet you it will be approved ,, for 150 million dollars is nothing compare to the hardship this refugees will bring , some politician saw affortunity to make money on this deal….: wake up Filipinos ,, this is totally F…. U… If it is signed…

    1. PNoy can’t approve this without outlining a policy and presenting it to the people. But he’s known for doing things without asking. He treats the Philippines like his personal fiefdom.

  7. You know I’m actually starting to think that the Yolanda funds + donations are definitely considered now Ill-gotten wealth of the Aquinos.

    1. I also wonder where the millions went for yolanda and sendong victims and if audit to the expenses were made (since their motto is transparency and d so called “walang corrupt walang mahirap”).
Cant find any report regarding the donations received and projects given to the victims.

    2. Not the first time an Aquino in the high seat of power didn’t do a proper job with natural disaster recovery and management.
Though of course its even more apparent considering while Aquino was busy cracking down on supposed “crooks”, it was quite alright to not have a proper paper trail for funds meant to help those from recovering a natural disaster.

    1. MARCOS left us the MASAGANA99 legacy of Converting a quarter of a million peasants into landowner farmers, while this MAD PNOY continue his killings and looting the Philippine treasury for a 100 years of starting from his great grandmother isidra Aquino who are the family of Japanese collaborators and now Malaysian collaborators that made our country 3rd world status.

    1. Discipline and respect, yes.

Nationalism here is false is over rated. Especially in the Philippines as it would imply that we have something to be proud of.

Proud to be a Filipino. Yeah sure….not!

  8. This is bad and biased writing…
How can anyone blame PNoy’s (or any president’s) 6 years of presidency for worst traffic, bad airport and bad palliative care?? Hahaha! We’ve been having it really bad for a long time now. And the traffic thing is according to “Waze Survey”, that probably only reinforces that Filipinos love to complain about traffic (and everything else). Even Gloria’s “illegal detention” is being taken against his 6-year reign?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying those are okay, but how can that be worse than all of Marcos years??? Lol. I am not an avid supporter, but I’d like to get my facts straight…

    1. How can anyone blame PNoy’s (or any president’s) 6 years of presidency?

Because the coconut in chief has not addressed or even seriously attempted to fix any of the problems. All they did was Band-Aid solutions. They rather concentrated on robbing the Filipino people blind.

Judging by your picture you know nothing about the Marcos years, so your opinion is based on second hand information.

I’m turning 50 and trust me, the Marcos years were by far superior to anything that came after him.

      1. You’re absolutely right. During Marcos time a factory worker can already send his children to college because there were control over tuition fee hike and you have option to avail good quality education in governmentuniversities without shedding hundreds of thousands. UP during Marcos time is almost free. Public schools are also well off, you will not hear of any school where student sits under the tree during class because there is no enough class room. But now, what is happening? The first thing Aquino did is to change the history books and telll all student that Marcos 8s a bad leader. They were so busy destroying Marcos legacy that they forgot to pay attention to the basic needs of the people. Even professionals like my self could not afford to give my children a quality education if I dont send them to private school and costse lots of fortune..Wake up people, open your mind and not be victims of false information.

    2. And who do you think is manning the helm of this country? True, it is not Aquino’s fault that our country is in bad shape before June of 2010, but its been five years and what does he have to show for?

Gloria’s detention is of course going to be taken against him because they railroaded the process. The Secretary of Justice herself (who is an appointee of the President, just in case you don’t know) masterminded the execution by barring the former president from boarding a plane. Now, we’re no experts on law but the UN body (who are experts on it) has already spoke and they made it clear that the incident was inhumane.

So, what facts are you still looking for? The truth is already screaming at your face, andyou either have to acknowledge it like any sane person or pretend that its not there just like a retard.

      1. The generations of people that have come along since 1975 have been spoon fed and have softened to the point that they do not even know how the world works.Their parents taught them that life was fair, that democracy is works and is great and if you work hard their will be a reward.
Well, it is nothing like that kiddies. The world is not fair, you do not live in a democracy and if you work for a living you are a sucker!
It is as simple as that. The blame belongs on these people’s parents for believing that shit to begin with and then teaching the crap to their kids. Todays crop of youngsters are even more fucked than the Baby-Boomers and yet for all the evidence to the contrary, they still think that their parents view of the world might be attainable. Well, sadly it is not.
The Martial Law years were terrible and it may serve the soft and brazen youngsters of the country right to have to live in such conditions. Finding out real fast that opening your mouth against the government and its policies will get you a dirt nap and a beating all the way to it just might be what they need to realize that they can have it real good if they just had the nerve to do what is necessary to create what should have been created all those years ago pre 1965.

    3. @pinkaze

Seems you don’t realise that PNoy has control over the national budget since congress just rubber stamps his policies. And because he has control over it, he can prioritise the upgrade of vital infrastructure like the airport, roads and public hospitals. Unfortunately, he didn’t prioritise them so they just went from bad to worse while he is in office.

Of course PNoy is to blame for Gloria’s illegal detention. It was him who ordered the detention of the former President even when there was no case filed against her at that time. His allies also railroaded the trumped up charges against her. No wonder the cases got dismissed one by one. The plunder case against her has no legs to stand on either.

      2. You have a point young one. You are a bright girl and brave to write all these issues re: PNoy and I could not agree less… You are blessed to be in this generation wherein you can freely write about issues of the presidency and issues of the country… My generation never had the liberty of doing so pano wala pang FB, Twitter, Blogs like these… but we are 100% considered a dead man walking…Pwede Walkers na din hehe… Great article, just remember 1 thing though, what people learned about Marcos is merely a tip of the iceberg. In post Marcos era that is Cory years all the way to PNoy years we can fight with our keyboard and tell our thoughts to everyone… I am witnessing the same BS all over again… we just got rid of a tyrant and replaced it with stronger demons… because the people never learned and never practiced real democracy. Who placed these presidents in power in the first place?

    4. The point is, we have to stop blaming the Marcoses, because they’re no longer in power now. The ones in power now should take responsibility for all the stuff that’s happening now, but instead they pass the buck. Whatever Marcos’ regime did, all the regimes that followed failed to undo the damage. In fact, some of them even worsened the damage, such as the current one. Their policy is, “Eh, buhay ka pa naman di ba?” and “Bahala kayo sa buhay ninyo!”

      1. That is the thing. Its ironic and people/citizens aren’t seeing the Kamaganak Inc. well placed smokescreen because as PNOY’s term is ending and the Ninoy anniversary passed and all these things that were never improved or fixed during PNOY’s term, everyone is talking about the MARCOS timeline. In there lies the part of peoples’ lack of information and education regarding the issues and heavily relying on hearsay and the slanted media in general to know these things.

Even since 2010, I knew what PNOY was capable of as a leader. So the citizens who voted him in shouldn’t be surprised of what he didn’t deliver on. At the same time however, people should also be more aware of the political process and why their choices to vote for their next leader look like they come from the Peanut Gallery. Sure they look and smell good but they all have no real spine.

    5. “How can anyone blame PNoy’s (or any president’s) 6 years of presidency for worst traffic, bad airport and bad palliative care?”

Because 6 years ago he was campaigning to be a leader to fix the “issues” the country had in the leadership position and apparently had an “answer”. And all those answers amounted to exactly those 3 things so far.

“We’ve been having it really bad for a long time now.”

And PNoy was suppose to make it good apparently. ‘Sya Nga’ was the battlecry for the Yellowtards who just thought he was the best rooster to win the 2010 Sabong Elections.

“Even Gloria’s “illegal detention” is being taken against his 6-year reign?”

Because this occurred under PNoy’s administrative run. He ALLOWED for this to happen. Who else was responsible for green lighting this choice? Do you not know how to pin down responsibilities based on who makes the decisions? No fucking wonder you type your statements as if there is much ambiguity and no one to really claim responsibility.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying those are okay, but how can that be worse than all of Marcos years???”

Because its in line of helping put things in context. People say the Marcos years were horrible but were blowing it out of proportion in terms of a certain context. Much like how people overlook the small things regarding PNOYs run that were under his charge but since people seem to forget the capabilities of the highest seat of the democratic nation as well as Commander in Chief, people don’t know or don’t care. Not surprised considering you wasted whatever brain cells you had just to type up an ignorant statement.

      1. Whoa! why so angry? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and perspective. Maybe tone down a little. Your message is lost amongst the name calling and insults.Just sayin.

      2. simple sir. yellowtards compare numbers. not facts or actual events. they compare numbers and put every effort to justify those numbers, numbers that are not even accurate.
to them 70,000 inhumane incarcerations outweigh a few inhumane incarcerations happening today.
the idiots would rather dwell and blame everything over something that happened 30 years ago than condemn those who secretly robbing them and selling our country piece by piece to foreign sovereignty because it is easier and well established. typical credo of those incapable of critical thinking. tatak NOYTARD.

    6. I agree. The problems in our country is entrenched and all successive government from Marcos’s time has contributed/done little or nothing at all to improve our situation. All of them bears the blame for our current woes. But,so should the electorate.Every few years we have a chance to have our say and affect change, and every time we seemed to get fooled again and again. People needs to get themselves involved and informed. That would be the only way.

  9. sayang! this is the only adjective i can say to the BSAquino government. He could have been a better President but he wasted all the chances because of his KKK and misdirected priority. He can’t even explain what happen to the Malampaya Fund….but they are more focus on the charges for GMA, which until now, walang napapatunayan! The next President must be sensible enough to know the needs of this country.

  10. It isn’t, or shouldn’t be a blame game. You somehow acknowledged that during marcos’ time, people were willing to die to fight for their right, because marcos took them away. Now fast forward into the present time, I agree that those same principles should still be upheld by our countrymen, even today’s youth. Most of those advocating the #neveragain mentality wants our youth educated of the horrors that happened before so we may be more critical of the present day piliticos and public servants. It’s not about being red or yellow. By all means, lambast pnoy as much as you want when he deserves it. But never forget the past or distort history as it happened. We all have so much to learn especially thise who say that there was nothing wrong with Martial Law.

    1. “But never forget the past or distort history as it happened. We all have so much to learn especially thise who say that there was nothing wrong with Martial Law.”

More like Pinoys have to actually learn objective history. When they blindly say the Marcos Years were bad and give nothing constructive about it but rejoice the 1987 constitution and Cory’s efforts like it was a breath of fresh air, its like the same idiots who thought the Spanish finally leaving was a time of grace for the country. Yes only for the likes of Cojuangcos, Aquinos and such to take over and install their political dynasties for centuries on end. Because pinoys are so caught up on extraneous details and forget the proper context in mind of the important events that happened.

  11. I like the economic numbers under Pnoy. Gdp growth,
Debt to gdp, gir are all good under his regime. You must compare marcos vs SE asia numbers and Pnoy vs SEA numbers to remove effects from global events.

    1. @Rightist

This government rely on spending to promote economic growth. It is not sustainable and doesn’t do much to fix unemployment rate. Furthermore, the country still relies on remittances from OFWs.

Besides, you shouldn’t credit everything to PNoy alone. It was GMA’s policy changes that paved the way for the so-called “strength”. Read this report:

“The Philippine government’s effectiveness in handling the economy is at its highest level as reform momentum that started during the Arroyo administration gains traction, foreign debt-watcher Moody’s Investors Service said.

In its report, Moody’s, one of three major international credit rating agencies, said the source of government’s current “institutional strength” was administrative in nature, but the rating agency also noted it cannot be attributed solely to President Benigno S. Aquino III’s reform agenda.

“Many of the institutional improvements have been administrative in nature. Many of these changes resulted from a public financial management reform drive that was first mooted during the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the mid-2000s,” Moody’s said.

      1. It is correct to build on what GMA has done correctly. Pnoy has retained some Arroyo technocrats. And the investor confidence in Pnoys administration should be taken into account. The private sector has other means to determine whether it is wise to invest in the Philippines and their confidence is quite high now. We are not yet really investment grade due to constitutional restrictions but under Pnoys administration, we are getting there. In terms of the economy, Pnoy did no harm and the next president will be able to build on this. There are other issues where Pnoy did not do well but I like his economic numbers. I believe it will be Roxas who will best continue laying the foundation for more economic growth. My verdict is Pnoys economic management is much better than Marcos’. In summary, I beg to disagree with the title.

        1. You must be joking. It is an economy in bubble. It is like a company awashed with cash. A company like that is open to hostile take-over.

Of course, the numbers look good. PNoy has been borrowing money, but not spending it. Believe they are pre-empting the exit of hot money when Fed rates go up. But, that means they are artificially propping things. It is crazy. Because it is an empty economy inside, it could collapse any time. I think he is gambling it will only collapse after he steps down. That gamble however is putting us at risk, a risk similar to Greece. What an irresponsible way just to get brownie points. It’s all PR. Instead of developing infrastructure, etc, solving unemployment, he opts for the easy way out. That is your PNoy. All just for himself, nothing for the people.

Just watch the 700 to 800 billion lump sums and unspent in the budget. That will disappear in thin air if they lose the election. With that amount, they will be too big to sue. They can buy all the fiscals and judges with that kind of money, and still have plenty to spare. They will be gone with your money before you know it. Every indication that will happen is already there.

        2. The Arroyo-era technolcrats, you mean the Hyatt 10 and ilk, who bolted from GMA and decided to latch on to the Aquinos because they couldn’t get their way with GMA. They got their break with Aquino and are back in power… and are masterminding much of the pillaging of this country. All with Aquino’s blessing. At least, that’s how I see it. With Roxas, he’ll continue this legacy of corruption.

        3. The “investment confidence” you are talking about is based on perception alone. And that perception had a lot to do with the positive propaganda employed by mainstream media allied with the Aquinos. They keep highlighting his slogan “daang matuwid” and “anti-corruption” programs and glossing over his failures. Never mind that daang matuwid means nothing and he has not succeeded in curbing corruption.

Ever wonder why investors are not coming in droves? Because they have their own analysts who study the situation in the country in depth. They find out the truth eventually – that it is not “safe” and worth investing in the Philippines due to lack of modern infrastructure and services suck.

Like I said earlier, you cannot give all the credit to PNoy for the so-called “sound” economy you keep talking about. It’s not even sustainable.

        4. “We are not yet really investment grade due to constitutional restrictions but under Pnoys administration, we are getting there.”

Gee if this is such an huge issue to make that jump from good to great, why would not the Commander in Chief in those years modify the constitution in order to alleviate this? Big reason why other SE countries are willing to look better to Foreign Investors with their looser policies and gaining more out of that relationship in a faster time than whatever economic projectisions Philippines have.

“In terms of the economy, Pnoy did no harm and the next president will be able to build on this.”
Based on flat numbers that don’t really tell the proper narrative? Wow you sure did the homework the other current media Pinoy business analysts did.

PNOY did absolutely nothing to completely bolster the economy than it was already on course with what PGMA built on. Its funny because the actual hard hitting game changing stuff regarding the Philippine economy couldn’t be done under his regime anyway. And wouldn’t be done anyway due to the long withstanding policies. It doesn’t change that there aren’t a bigger influx of job opportunities in the country. Or an improved cost of living. Hell China in 6 years has an even dramatic shift in its economic pace followed up by policies and involvement of active foreign investors in their country in the last decade.

      2. @author Spending (government, private et al). is just one factor of economic growth, overall, you have to assess the balance sheets of the macro (whole country) and micro (businesses, individuals). During Pnoy’s time, there were a lot of positives against the negatives. GDP was up, inflation was controlled, our currency strengthened, NOT because of excellence but because BASICS were executed. There was greater employment opportunities and more people had jobs. Don’t blame the government for poor saving and spending habits of the filipinos. Policies during the Arroyo administration were untenable and unrealistic esp. with the huge level of corruption. Companies, and other businesses were unwilling to invest further. Ever tried to import during the Marcos and GMA period? It was too risky to be an importer then. Growth was stymied by the unreliability of the government.
Pnoy will never be the perfect president, but he was the best president of the Philippines so far.
Whether Du30, Pnoy, or whoever else are the leaders, there will be corruption whether they like it or not. And not necessarily by their efforts. So far only GMA is the most proactive contributor to corrupt government practices post Marcos.

        1. To be honest, I think you’re smoking crack while writing your comment.

Positives, you say? You get that from the media who are close allies with the Aquinos. You didn’t even explain how this so-called economy under Noynoy is a bubble economy. And those basics were implemented by GMA while Noynoy takes all the credit, along with those people from the Hyatt 10, who left GMA because she didn’t allow to do things THEIR OWN way.

And you missed something: she cut off the budget at the time of the 2008 global financial crisis. So she took drastic steps to save our country from economic collapse. The E-VAT is unfavorable but necessary. If she didn’t take the bitter pill, the Philippines will collapse just like Greece.

Saying that Noynoy is the best president so far tells me that you’re actually smoking crack and a fullblown Yellowtard. Gaffes, blunders, blame games, and point fingers at someone and not taking responsibility is not the qualities of a good leader.

Whether Du30, Pnoy, or whoever else are the leaders, there will be corruption whether they like it or not. And not necessarily by their efforts. So far only GMA is the most proactive contributor to corrupt government practices post Marcos.

This is hilarious. If anything, you’re referring more to the Aquinos and their cronies rather than GMA as they contributed to corrupt government practices post Marcos… in a span of 30 years.

Being EMO of GMA doesn’t make you smart. Set your priorities for once.

    2. @rightist. One of the few more technically sound comments here. Numbers don’t lie. And when the proof goes against some of the naysayer’s beliefs here, they say its a lie.

  12. sa mga nagsasabi diyan na hindi mo to mgagawa or masusulat sa panahon ni Marcos. Wag po kayong tanga dahil ang teknolohiya noong unang panahon ay hindi katulad ngayon. if we had the same technology back then a lot of people can simply go anonymous and write stuff without being traced. eto kayong mga noytards ..l..

        1. @Cezar

There are still journalists being murdered today. Haven’t you been reading the news about them?

Let’s just say that what you are saying is true– that it is “safer” to criticise PNoy now. However, you need to realise that I may not be killed for criticising PNoy and his allies but I am treated like an outcast by people who are still beholden to the Aquino name. It’s actually the same thing. Just examine the way you are affected by my criticism of PNoy. It’s like you are the one being criticised. You take it personally.

You know deep inside that he has not done anything significant but still act so arrogant and self-righteous and yet you would rather put down people like me who try to expose his indiscretions. No wonder the situation in the country is getting worse.

At least during Marcos time, people were still moved to do something about atrocities committed by government officials. Nowadays, the tragedies like Luneta hostage crisis, Yolanda crisis, Mamasapano clash and many more are not enough to move people to demand PNoy to step down. That’s a real tragedy, indeed.

        2. If that policy will benefit the people then why criticize? That means you actually hate Singapore?

And it seems you’re apathetic on the people who are killed AFTER the Marcos years…?

          Wow, such lust for EMOness…

    1. Besides, as I’ve said, if the country was being run efficiently, there wouldn’t be a need for GRP!

I’m very sure Ms. Ilda would be writing stuff like this in the first place if she didn’t notice anything wrong with society to start with…

  13. 15 Ways To Identify Bad Leaders

1.Leaders who can’t see it, probably won’t find it: Leaders without vision will fail. Leaders who lack vision cannot inspire teams, motivate performance, or create sustainable value. Poor vision, tunnel vision, vision that is fickle, or a non-existent vision will cause leaders to fail. A leader’s job is to align the organization around a clear and achievable vision. This cannot occur when the blind lead the blind.

    2. When leaders fail to lead themselves: A leader who lacks character or integrity will not endure the test of time. It doesn’t matter how intelligent, affable, persuasive, or savvy a person is, if they are prone to rationalizing unethical behavior based upon current or future needs, they will eventually fall prey to their own undoing. Optics over ethics is not a formula for success.

    3. Put-up or shut-up: Nothing smacks of poor leadership like a lack of performance. Nobody is perfect, but leaders who consistently fail are not leaders, no matter how much you wish they were. While past performance is not always a certain indicator of future events, a long-term track record of success should not be taken lightly. Someone who has consistently experienced success in leadership roles has a much better chance of success than someone who has not. It’s important to remember unproven leaders come with a high risk premium. Smart companies recognize potential, but they reward performance.

    4. Beware the know-it-all: The best leaders are acutely aware of how much they don’t know. They have no need to be the smartest person in the room, but have the unyielding desire to learn from others. I’ve often said, leaders who are not growing cannot lead a growing enterprise. One of the hallmarks of great leaders is their insatiable curiosity. If a leader isn’t extremely curious about every aspect of their organization, trust me when I say there are huge problems on the horizon.

    5. When there’s a failure to communicate: When leaders are constantly flummoxed by those who don’t seem to get it, there exists both a leadership and communications problem. Show me a leader with poor communication skills and I’ll show you someone who will be short-lived in their position. Great leaders can communicate effectively across mediums, constituencies, and environments. They are active listeners, fluid thinkers, and know when to dial it up, down, or off.

    6. It’s all about them: If a leader doesn’t understand the concept of “service above self” they will not engender the trust, confidence, and loyalty of those they lead. Any leader is only as good as his or her team’s desire to be led by them. An over abundance of ego, pride, and arrogance are not positive leadership traits. Real leaders take the blame and give the credit – not the other way around. Long story short; if a leader receives a vote of non-confidence from their subordinates…game over.

    7. Sing a little Kumbaya: While love and leadership are certainly two words you don’t often hear in the same sentence, I can assure you that rarely does great leadership exist without love being present and practiced. In fact, if you examine failed leaders as a class, you’ll find that a lack of love, misplaced love, or misguided love were a contributing cause of said failures, if not the root cause. Empathy, humility and kindness are signs of leadership strength – not weakness.

    8. One size fits all leadership style: The best leaders are fluid and flexible in their approach. They understand the power of, and necessity for contextual leadership. “My way or the highway” leadership styles don’t play well in today’s world, will result in a fractured culture, and ultimately a non-productive organization. Only those leaders who can quickly recognize and adapt their methods to the situation at hand will be successful over the long haul. Think open-source not proprietary, surrender not control, and collaborate not dictate.

    9. Lack of focus: Leadership is less about balance and more about priority. The best leaders are ruthless in their pursuit of focus. Those leaders who lack the focus and attention to detail needed to apply leverage and resources in an aggressive and committed fashion will perish. Leaders who are not intentional and are not focused, will fail themselves and their team. Leaders who lack discipline will model the wrong behaviors and will inevitably spread themselves too thin. Organizations are at the greatest risk when leaders lose their focus. Intentions must be aligned with results for leaders to be effective.

    10. Death by comfort zone: The best organizations beat their competition to the future, and the best leaders understand how to pull the future forward. Leaders satisfied with the status quo, or those who tend to be more concerned about survival than growth won’t do well over the long-run. The best leaders are focused on leading change and innovation to keep their organizations fresh, dynamic and growing. Bottom line – leaders who build a static business doom themselves to failure.

    11. Not paying attention to the consumer: Leaders not attuned to the needs of the market will fail. As the old saying goes, if you’re not taking care of your customers, someone else will be more than happy to. Successful leaders focus on the consumer experience, which in turn leads to satisfaction and loyalty. The best leaders find ways to consistently engage the consumer and incorporate them into their innovation and planning initiatives. If you ignore, mistreat, or otherwise don’t value your customer base, your days as a leader are most certainly numbered.

    12. Get Invested: Leaders not fully committed to investing in those they lead will fail. The best leaders support their team, build into their team, mentor and coach their team, and they truly care for their team. A leader not fully invested in their team won’t have a team – at least not an effective one. Never forget the old saying, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care – words to live by for leaders.

    13. The “A” word: Real leaders are accountable. They don’t blame others, don’t claim credit for the success of their team, but always accept responsibility for failures that occur on their watch. Most of all, leaders are accountable to their team. I’ve always said that leaders not accountable to their people will eventually be held accountable by their people.

    14. It’s the culture stupid: The lesson here is that culture matters – forget this and all other efforts with regard to talent initiatives will be dysfunctional, if not altogether lost. Don’t allow your culture to evolve by default, create it by design. The first step in cultural design is to be very, very careful who you let through the front door. People, their traits, attitudes, and work ethic (or lack thereof) are contagions. This can be positive or negative – the choice is yours. The old saying, “talent begets talent” is true, but talent that aligns with culture will produce better results than talent that does not.

    15. Show some chutzpa: Leadership absent courage is a farce. I’m not referring to arrogance or bravado, but real courage. It takes courage to break from the norm, challenge the status quo, seek new opportunities, cut your losses, make the tough decision, listen rather than speak, admit your faults, forgive the faults of others, not allow failure to dampen your spirit, stand for those not capable of standing for themselves, and to remain true to your core values. You can do none of these things without courage. Courage is having the strength of conviction to do the right thing when it would just be easier to do things right.

The moral of this story is leaders need to be honest, have a demonstrated track record of success, be excellent communicators, place an emphasis on serving those they lead, be fluid in approach, have laser focus, and a bias toward action. If these traits are not possessed by your current leadership team, or your emerging leaders, you will be in for a rocky road ahead.

      1. Many thanks, Ilda.

If only Failipinos in the Failippines will get real, wake up, accept, and realize about what I commented here, and whenever I post/comment in every article here in GRP…

But alas, the Failipinos are too busy with all useless Failippines government cum business cum media BS crap that they’re feeding their pigeon-brained minds.

Hell, Failipinos in the Failippines don’t even know what Six Sigma means.

        Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot!!!

  14. I have been on assignment by my company, abroad. I apologize for my readers, for not blogging. Anyway, I believe, they did not miss my blogs.

The Aquino era is an era of tremendous incompetence, thievery of public funds, and all kinds of corruptions; that have emerge beyond our imaginations. It is the time , where the Oligarchy became too powerful. Feudalism gripped its deadly hands on the nation. It was a time of murders , unsolved. Time where the murders of army personnel; and police officers, are ignored.

It will go in Philippine history, as the Worse Era, in our country.

    1. ISALI NA RIN YONG K 2 12 PROGRAM. WALANG MANGMANG SA BAWAT BARANGAY SA TAONG 2015, NATATAPOS NA ANG 2015. MAS GRABE PA ANG MANGMANG NGAYON KAWAWANG MGA BATA. KAYSA NOONG PANAHON NI MARCOS. LAKI NANG BUDGET SA DEPED THIS YEAR.

      1. And I feel sorry for you young generation Filipino for I do not see any unity among you.. You are just like duterte all talk but no action , like a dog that barks loud but afraid to bite . Good luck younger generation Filipinos you need all the luck in the world for your country’s future

        1. Cezar

People like you are to blame for the disunity in Philippines. Instead of applauding the bravery of those who criticise the government for their shortfalls, you put them down instead.

What makes you think PNoy should be treated with respect after his treatment of Yolanda victims, Mamasapano victims?

        2. Son, congratulations for being a bonafide point-misser since you’re just looking for anything sugar-coated…

  15. Dear Author,

Have you discuss here the 10 billion dollars ill gotten wealth of Marcos? The Crony Capitalism that lead to economic down turn during Marcos years? The funding of fly by night corporations of his cronies? I can list down if you like. This admin us not perfect and far from that but I seesome changes. Worst airport? Have you been to Chenai India internagional airport? NAIA is way way better.

    1. In about 10 more years, the amount that the oligarchs politicans and businessmen will steal will exceed the total amount Marcos had stolen. Just wait and see.

      1. What do you mean in 10 years? Smuggling alone in the last 5 years is in the trillions. That is totally controlled by one KKK sitting in the Palace. Just a conservative ad valorem of 10%, that is already 100 billion of taxes gone. I am talking very conservatively.

Actually, there are already estimates that show corruption in the 30 years after 1986 is five times the 20 years prior to 1986. Also estimates that PNoy’s KKK more corrupt than GMA.

        1. add,

I was being generous with that timeline, to give our Marcos-hating “Fliptards” the opportunity to realize their delusions that things have not been better for the Philippines since the 1986 EDSA Revolution.

          Aeta

    2. 10 million ill gotten wealth which nobody has completely furnished proof of it ever disappearing. It wouldn’t matter how much inflation would change the value considering The Aquino/Cojuangco’s with their cronysm and others have taken advantage of the 1987 consitution to practically ROB the PUBLIC BLIND for over 30 YEARS! Their best crime is convincing the public that Cory is a saint, her son Benigno Aquino was a capable leader in comparison to that crook Marcos.

“Worst airport? Have you been to Chenai India internagional airport? NAIA is way way better.”
the NAIA airport has been rated worst by many comprehensive reviews on a global scale in terms of criteria of overall quality. You also have to put it in perspective that the NAIA airport is the GATEWAY of the Philippines to the globe! So of course the central airport of the country has to perform at an expected high level and meet expectations. Chennai International is only the 4th busiest Airport in INDIA! Trying to compare to to the scale of the NAIA and its importance as a tourist/business hub to the globe is really stupid.

    3. Who cares about the billions deposited outside the country if PNoy and his KKK can easily acquire more, locally and freely?

      1. What 10 billion dollar ill gotten wealth of Apo lakay Marcos? while PLDT,PAL,and the relathieves of cory who connived with Japan and Malaysia to bringdown our world status to a third developing country to a nation of Pagpag eaters and Cemetery dwellers, where most of our taxes are well audited by Senatong tanda and his napolist list of money bathub auditors for more than 30 years of Broaddaylight corruption.wake up hacienda luisita farmers, fight for your rights to be converted into landowners, just like what the masagana99 of agila ng bayan conversion of a quarter of a million peasants into landowners, the complete opposite of this greedy yellow oligarchs hacienderos..

    4. where is it now? the 10 billion dollars of ill gotten wealth of Apo lakay Marcos Masagana99 Great Nation Philippines legacy? and who owns the majority stock of Philippine Airlines?>.PLDT.,?Meralco, and the ABSCbn?

  16. Regrets are always in the end for the Filipino people. Unfortunately for the Philippines, though, not a single Filipino will take the blame for why the country is still FOCKED UP–29 years after Marcos’ ousting–and that it is always the other Filipinos’ fault and never theirs.

The EDSA Revolution–if one sits down and really think hard about it–was the “Ultimate Fail Compilation” and just an opportunity for the Filipino people to close one “Gate of Hell” (Martial Law), so they can open up hundreds–even thousands–“Gates of Hell” for the political and business demons to come out and fleece (rape) the country.

In short, the Philippines is FOCKED UP because the Filipino people are too FOCKED UP to set aside their self-interest and differences to live as one people, under one flag, as one nation.

‘Long Live the Colonial and Crab Mentalities of the Filipino People!’

    1. That’s because EDSA One was a bloodless revolution. If it were a bloody one, where one side wiped out the other side, then the aftermath would have been a smooth transition to a new governance with a more nationalistic aspiration. Eh kasi nga bloodless yang Edsa One, Cory spent more resources fighting off the attempted coups and the destabilization efforts of the opposition than governing satisfactorily.

      1. And the destabilization efforts continued until GMA’s term, I think. In my opinion, the root cause of it all is the fact that the ruling class came from the elite. Again, Edsa One was bloodless because they don’t want any kind of societal upheaval that will cause them to lose their stranglehold of power. Kaya they gave all kinds of concessions to the opposition just to maintain the status quo. Palit-palit na lang sila sa panloloko kay bobong Juan dela Cruz.

  17. I wish the author would provide actual figures and compare the present administration and Marcos’s. Not just an emotional subjective appeal.

    1. What do you mean “emotional subjected appeal”? Please be specific. 😉

What figures? Most of my claims are backed up by reports from “reliable” sources.

      1. so, your article caught my attention because in my minds eye, marcos is pretty high up in the Evil factor, and you are claiming that Pnoy is worse. Sorry, but horseshit. can you please site your reliable sources? stats, figures and documents, not commentaries. you’re making a lot of blanket statements and saying that the media is controlled by the current oligarchy but you also cite the media as you resource. i am all for criticizing the government – i’ve done my fair share of marching against marcos and aquino way back then, when the streets and not the internet were the platform of our voices. but i grow weary of armchair analysts. most of your complaints are about the state of affairs in Metro Manila, but manila is not the philippines. it’s a shithole for sure. but us living in the provinces are slowly getting better. i just spent several months working with the coastal folks who were affected by yolanda. for someone who has lived through the hell and tragedy of the marcos years, and the aquino years after that – this current president, aquino as he is, is not anywhere near close in terms of outright greed and mismanagement. we actually got government support for the fishermen, imagine that. it’s a nice surprise when you don’t expect anything, but i have always been cynical. I’m not saying that the current aquino is a good president. The blunders are comical in the least, tragic most of the time. but he’s definitely not worse than marcos. this may be a biased view (what view isn’t?) since my family suffered a lot during those times, but it is true for so many. I have decided that instead of shouting slogans and rhetoric, if each of us reached out to another filipino, we’d actually make a difference, with or without the government.

  18. If only your parents were salvaged during Marcos’ time, you would know what kind of a person he is.

And yes, we all know Aquino is also bad. Just don’t glorify a wicked person.

    1. Marcos is a wicked person because he was pointed as one by media pundits, but let’s not go after Cory and her wickedry while in office and what she and her family did for the past 30 so idiots like you would believe in the Aquino name.

The fact is that only gullible fools like you would believe in the Aquino magic and hype. That and everything that has a last name on them.

  19. Aquino bad. Marcos good. Ramble ramble ramble.
    Explain here. Explain there.

It’s funny that the lowly people squabble over petty debates while the oligarchs (yes, including aquino and marcos) are raping our land and whitewashing our history.

At the end of the day, the president is a reflection of the people. Sadly, the people don’t give a shit about your articles or your debates. They just want to find something to eat and live in peace.

    1. Funny how you bothered to leave a comment even when you thought my article is useless. That’s proof you were moved enough to say something. 😉

It’s funny that the lowly people squabble over petty debates while the oligarchs (yes, including aquino and marcos) are raping our land and whitewashing our history.

Not everyone is convinced that the Aqunios are “raping our land and whitewashing our history” as you said. Which is why there is a need to write articles exposing it.

This article was written for people who do give a “shit”.

  20. Ok, so the Aquino administration has more than it’s fair share of fuck ups. But seriously, are you even old enough to have experienced even a bit of how it was under the Marcos regime? Have you had any of your relatives disappear only to be found dead some time later, all because they spoke against one or all of the Marcoses? If this were the the time of martial law, Arroyo wouldn’t have been “illegally detained”, she’d be dead. Think about that before you go trying to compare then and now, will you.

    1. Funny how some would use false technicalities just to score cheap points.

Only drug addicts can can have a discussion about drugs because they have the “experience” of being an addict. No one else can have any say.

You need to have been alive during those years before you can make statements about…, therefore you have no say in the matter.

By that logic it means people cannot have free discourse anymore because they first need to seek your approval.

    2. Vern

Another person stuck in the past. No one is denying the abuses during the Martial Law years. However, there are still abuses now. Are you suggesting that we just turn a blind eye to them? I don’t think you have a point.

    3. “Have you had any of your relatives disappear only to be found dead some time later, all because they spoke against one or all of the Marcoses?”
And journalists are still disappearing as well under the PNOY administration. The Manila hostage crisis was also a grand fuckup under PNOY administration as well as Mampasano. Just because the President did not personally make himself accountable to the death regarding the latter events doesn’t take him off due to omission.

“If this were the the time of martial law, Arroyo wouldn’t have been “illegally detained”, she’d be dead”
And you think her condition is better off as being “dead”? Nobody outside of a very few spoke up about her condition under PNOY’s failed attempt at accusing her of plunder. If PGMA died under PNOY’s regime you would bet your ass his Kamaganak inc. would’ve spun enough yarn to make it out like it wasn’t a big deal and deflect attention until after he was out of office.

“Think about that before you go trying to compare then and now, will you.”
Apparently you didn’t think hard enough because you needed to make direct comparisons that any 8th grader could make to justify what would be “harsher”. Just because nobody is supposedly dying left and right doesn’t mean it is “better”.

    4. Says the guy who believes that nobody died during Cory’s admin. Bravo for your sheer idiocy and ignorance. Sorry if we’re not drinking the Yellow Kool-aide like you do.

  21. “In just 6 years, Noynoy Aquino’s record of failure is now worse than all of the Marcos years” Sabihin yan sa mga INAGAWAN ng lupa at kabuhayan.

    1. am 59 and lived through the marcos years..some were good years, some were bad..in all, except for the thievery and the human rights abuses, i think they were basically not bad…the title of this article says failure of noynoy 6 years, compared to marcos 20+ years…i am no marcos follower nor apologist, but what has noynoy really done to make our lives better compared to what marcos did during the martial law years? peace and order? f..k that, what with all the riding in tandem murders even in broad daylight…poverty alleviatio? yeah right..i pay taxes to give away to the poor who do nothing to change their lives because they are “poor” and will never have the chance to amount to anything because they are “poor”…socialized begging and the government provides the alms, what a bunch of BS…infrastructure? education? health? no…nothing that i can really think of…yeah, noynoy did not do any of the things you are ascribing to marcos..in fact noynoy did nothing at all

      1. During Martial Law, first thing that Marcos did was to paralyzed the 80 families who controlled the country.

    2. @Mr. Panganiban

You need to read this part of the article because you may have missed it:

“While the atrocities against the victims should be condemned, their cases were already brought to court and won compensation. It is now time to move on to atrocities happening at present times.”

    3. Quoting someone that commented on a certain blog (Marocharim) that raises girly fits over the “impunity” of the Marcoses:

      “Jigs Carabeo says:
      October 11, 2015 at 5:52 pm
Myopic. The angst and pain. How about the blood of soldiers, policemen, and civilians who were killed because of the communist attacks? Somehow, they have been relegated to obscurity and irrelevancy. How can we value one human life over another?
The Communist threat was real then, it cannot be downplayed anymore.

The youth/students then, whose minds were programmed by propaganda of hate inside their campuses and up to even in their own classrooms were used. They shed their blood needlessly as they were egged on to believe they were fighting for something. Sadly, they were used as pawns of a self-serving movement. Their idealism was taken advantaged of by those who taught nothing but hate and false nationalism. These students then are the adults now who still carry with them the lifelong angst and hate programmed deep in their hearts.

Now, the millenials have already seen through this programming. They hold no emotional bias and prejudices. Information be it for or against Marcos or Aquino are readily available to them. They are branded as gullible and as those who know nothing. Fact is, these millenials are objective, inquisitive and tech savvy. Their reality now in their daily lives are so different from the realities 3-4 decades ago. The programming then is obsolete to the minds of today’s youth. These millenials know we are not any better then than we are now. This is a bitter pill to swallow for the students in the pre-Cory presidency whose mind programming has evidently stood the test of time. Unfortunately for those who hate Marcos, the millenials time is at hand, the old will always yield to the new.

Our history is almost full circle. Until when do we teach the kids’ to hate?”

    4. Last I checked, the Elder Marcos was the only one who really tried to implement land reform and to enfranchise tenant-farmers, and ordinary employees. His legacy is our Labor Code and the rich productive farmlands of Mindanao.

      1. KUNG ANTI MARCOS KA MAY KARAPATAN KA BANG TATAWAG MAGNANAKAW NG BUWIS NA SENATONG TANDA FOR 32 YEARS OF MAD PNOY KULANGKULANG99 CREATION OF A THIRD WORLD STATUS COUNTRY , THE LEGAL WAY OF CREATING THIRD WORLD STATUS BY SHULTZ AND BOSSWORTH THE ECONOMIC HITMEN OF THE YELLOW OLIGARCHS HACIENDA LUISITA SELF INTEREST DECEPTION

      2. YES, IT WAS HIS MASAGA99 LEGACY OF CONVERTING A QUARTER OF A MILLION PEASANTS INTO LANDOWNER FARMERS THAT PROPELLED HIS 22 YEARS OF GREAT NATION LEGACY, THAT WAS USURPED AND REPLACED BY THIS 32 YEARS OF KULANGKULANG99 MAD PNOY

  22. There can be no talk about the Marcos administration without Martial Law and there can be no talk of martial law without mention of torture

    1. and what makes you think torture and human rights abuses happened during the marcos era alone? why cry foul about such abuses that happened then and shut up about that very same offense now? come now, surely you don’t believe those types of atrocities miraculously disappeared the moment a change of leadership happened, did you?

yeah right. “never forget” kuno while conveniently sidestepping/ignoring the very same violations happening in front of your very eyes and current timeline.

      1. THat is the problem. Pinoys are so absorbed on the Yellow propaganda that they completely believe in exclusive absolutes. That the Marcos era for torture, human rights abuse and petty corruption amongst his smaller leaders was exclusive and absolute then? That during PNOYs regime these things also occurred but people are overlooking it because whenever Marcos era is brought up he is without a doubt exclusive and absolute for all those atrocities. Hell those exclusive absolutes happened during Saint Cory’s time too but good luck convincing the public that since their perception was all was good during Cory’s 1987 run and that the Philippines wouldn’t enjoy what they have now if it weren’t for the birth of Democracy in the country.

    2. So we will be forever talking about the Marcos years even when there are also abuses happening in the current Aquino administration?

      1. May nabatid ka ba sa aking naunang salaysay na pabor ako at sa kahit anong paraan naniniwalang walang katiwaliang nagaganap sa kasalukuyang administrasyon?

Being aware of the past doesn’t define my current discretion

So Marcos is better mas matalino mas magaling since Aquino is worse? ok.

Kay Marcos, ang hatian ay One for You and One for me.

  23. It doesn’t take much effort to see the economic fallout of Pre-Marcos to Martial Law. It also doesn’t take much effort to see the economy has not recovered until a few years ago, wherein our GDP was finally experiencing good growth. Inflation has also been at its lowest in decades. Where is the ‘damage’ you are referring to? Public transport system? That’s where our Bureaucracy fails. corruption? They were here way before Aquino or Marcos.

    1. Some young guy

You can’t seriously think that economic recovery happened as soon as PNoy stepped into power? It’s not instant. Besides, he is using the same economic policy GMA was using during her term. Even so-called economic “experts” give GMA credit for what PNoy is enjoying now:

In its report, Moody’s, one of three major international credit rating agencies, said the source of government’s current “institutional strength” was administrative in nature, but the rating agency also noted it cannot be attributed solely to President Benigno S. Aquino III’s reform agenda.

“Many of the institutional improvements have been administrative in nature. Many of these changes resulted from a public financial management reform drive that was first mooted during the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the mid-2000s,” Moody’s said.

      Read more at http://www.mb.com.ph/govt-economic-reform-momentum-gains-traction-moodys/#fswh57mi8dkUuWZe.99

    2. “It also doesn’t take much effort to see the economy has not recovered until a few years ago, wherein our GDP was finally experiencing good growth. Inflation has also been at its lowest in decades.”

It’s hard to appreciate good figures if it does not reflect in what Filipinos are seeing and experiencing. The fact that there are billions that are being hold back instead of already being used for building and improving necessary infrastructures (state of the art educational institution, research facilities, renewable source of energies, disaster campaign and preparation, etc), helping those typhoon-destroyed provinces or cities off to a good start, bettering transit or assisting local businessmen and entrepreneurs to rise goes to show that the government instead of opening a gate for progress opens a gate for further corruption.

    1. Sure. I know I can do a better job than PNoy because I will hire the best people for my cabinet and not just my relatives and friends.

Unfortunately, I will not win because my name is not popular to voters who prefer to vote for popular personalities.

      1. agreed to waysilbi ang nabuhat ni 32 years MADPnoy hacienda luisita self interest of a Pilipino, whose unworthy cause of making the Philippines third world status is not worth for Pilipinos to die for.

  24. ninoy aquino was the second victim of cojuancos, first was heneral luna. whom do you thinks will be the next? rest assure, the one who experiences the worst brutality of cojuancos is Juan dela Cruz.

Puro tayo batikos at lait. Eh tayo ba may nagagawa? Bukod sa pagsusulat? We truly deserve the state we are in. We all brought this upon ourselves. We are all guilty of corruption and stupidity. We allowed idiots to rule (simula pa sa panahon ng Kastila). We never had the heart to fight (i mean fight, not just write, but fight) the rotten system that we all created. Truly, “ang mamatay ng dahil sayo.”

    1. So, essentially, ALL FILIPINOS are FOCKED UP, for putting the same assholes in office and through denials that it’s not their fault.

    2. What some of us are doing is not complaining. This is vindication and highlighting what we knew would happen even before Noynoy was voted in.

Some of us have been trying to warn the rabid Aquino supporters that he will not be good for the country but they were so arrogant and did not listen to us.

It must be hard for a non-writer like you to imagine that writing is not all I do. It doesn’t take the whole day to write an article like this for me. So the answer to your question is, yes, I do other productive things aside from writing articles.

        1. We wouldn’t know. What I know is, at least he had the balls to declare all out war against the MILF during his term. Unlike BS Aquino, he didn’t sleep with the enemy.

  26. Wow! A lot of people can’t even understand the situation of the Philippines right now and still blaming Marcos. Come on, move on. Open your eyes people, Philippines is getting worse because of the selfish politicians especially the era of this administration. If you hate the Marcoses better think twice and see the “REAL” situation of the country now and compare it to the past and realize.

    1. Duane,

It’s not just the policians and businesses who are FOCKING UP the country. ALL of us Filipinos have contributed–directly and indirectly–to the degradation of the Philippines. Just the fact we blame other Filipinos for what is wrong with the country–while we wash our hands clean of any misdeed–already makes us just as guilty to FOCKING UP the Philippines through our denial that it is someone else’s fault.

      Aeta

  27. I don’t know about you, Ms. Ilda, but I lived through the Martial Law years and I know what it’s like; it was horrifying. I have never witnessed any dark years of our country worst than those years up until now. I don’t think it’s even fair to compare Aquino’s or any subsequent Philippines President’s administration to Marcos’ of the wide-ranging atrocities committed. You have no idea how bad those times were. I say you would have to had lived with it to know, and not just read on some journals or chronicles which could be twisted to justify writers’ convenience, or to suit their distorted claim. Yes, I agree to your contention that all of the past administrations have had their own share of transgression, but none compares to the abuses, usurpation, human rights violation, culture of kleptocracy – centered mostly on the Marcos Family and a few handful of cronies – violence, killings and tyranny. People were stymied because they were afraid. Freedom was curtailed. Press, media and other forms of disseminating information were government controlled and solely used for the Marcoses mass propaganda. You say anything, just anything against Marcos rule and you will surely either end up “deceparado” or in Marcos Gulag called Bicutan. It was hell, Ms. Ilda. It was truly a nightmare. And that’s why I have no sympathy for the perpetrators. If this incident happened is some other more civilized countries, such as for example Romania, Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and so forth, I wouldn’t doubt these predators would have been fed to the dogs.

    1. What duh…horrifying? Don’t you think I don’t have elders like my parents, aunties and uncles who can dispute your statements? In fact, a few folks here in the comment section already said they didn’t have a problem during Martial Law years.

Besides, do you think I am advocating for a return of Martial Law with this article? You’re missing the point. The point is, there are also abuses happening now but people like you are turning a blind eye to it. You’re not even addressing the issues raised in the article. You just repeated again the “horrors” of the Martial Law years. We’ve heard enough of it. We’re not there anymore.

      1. Your elders to dispute the horrors of Martial Law era? who in the right mind would say such? and WE who witnessed the horror are the blind ones? easy for you to say my dear, I’m not really sure if you’re trying to be funny

        1. Yes, there were victims of atrocities. However, the majority of Filipinos lived a peaceful life. Besides, some of those victims were eliminated by the NPAs themselves for revenge.

I’m talking about failures, ok? Not just victims of military activities and in the short time of 6 years, PNoy already has a long list of failures that affect millions of people.

        2. Dear Martin Tampos,

What “horrors” are you talking about? Which rally are you part of? Got blasted by water canons? That’s so sad. Were you taken by metrocom back then? I used to work back in Batangas in a refinery and I always pass checkpoints every night. I never got arrested, I just show them my Shell id and they let me pass. I got home every night PEACEFULLY. You won’t get into trouble back then unless you’re a troublemaker.

Martial law “horror stories,” some of them, tend to be exaggerated. My grandparents and relatives during that time also had misgivings about the Marcos regime but they didn’t disappear. No police force rappelled down from the rooftops to arrest family members, nothing of the sort happened.

    3. If it was so “bad” and many Filipinos suffered from it, why are none of the Marcoses in jail? Why did martial law lieutenants Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile go on to achieve political stardom in the post-Marcos era despite the “evils” they were involved in?

If Filipinos are so truly “outraged” by the Marcos regime, all of these people would have been in jail (or worse) by now.

  28. “and he is the only who made actual changes to the transportation. like buying new trains and bettering the EDSA. unlike the previous administration (GMA) who did nothing but corrupt.”

Kung ano man hinihithit mo ngayon, pahingi. =)

  29. In one of Imelda Marcos’ recent interviews by an American journalist (source it from YouTube), she inconspicuously shows off a piece of document appearing to be a certificate of deposit in some offshore bank amounting to 980 something billion dollars. The American journalist was in awe! Check it out, and notice Mrs. Imelda Marcos behaviour when the reporter start prying and getting a real good view of the paper.

    1. Hello? Back to the Marcoses? I’m not fan but can we stick to the failures of the Aquinos especially Noynoy?

What can you say about his incompetence and shortfalls? Millions of people suffer everyday due to the traffic chaos, inferior public transport and appalling services.

      1. Marcos- Best(Visions and programs)

  30. Mas maganda sanang title ay “In just 6 years, Noynoy Aquino’s record of failure is now worse than all of the previous Presidents”. Yun naman yung point eh.

    1. WHAT MARCOS MONEY YOU ARE TALKING OF? MARCOS IS DEAD FOR ALMOST 32 YEARS NOW, PLDT IS OWN BY MAD PNOY RELATHIEVES, BLAMING MARCOS FOR 30 YEARS IS THE DUMBEST PERSON ON EARTH, AND THATS WHAT WE ARE A NATION OF 100 MILLION IDIOTS, WHO THINKS THAT MARCOS IS THE CAUSE OF 32 MAD PNOY YELLOW OLIGARCHS CORRUPTION.

  31. Ilda says:

Sure. I know I can do a better job than PNoy because I will hire the best people for my cabinet and not just my relatives and friends.

Unfortunately, I will not win because my name is not popular to voters who prefer to vote for popular personalities.
    __________________________________________

Illda here has a high opinion of herself here… That she can do a better job than our president…
News for you lady, it takes a strong person to get there and stay there and alive in the presidents job in this dark country.

You Illda are just another armchair keyboard activist..
You think you can do a better job.. Keep deaming!

The core of our land is still loyalty to country and clan.
You must come from a low class unknown back ground,
So you resent the clans and their kin who are active in the system you want changed.

Stop insulting the intelligence of your fellows in saying you will not win because you are not popular, it only projects your bitterness.

Our countrymen will always vote with the grace of god~

Sir Aquinos was the choice of our people guided by the wisdom of our Lord.

It is good to see many people can read between the lines and see the attempts at revisionism here to make marcos good, and the current administration bad, good to see people are getting real about GRP

    God bless the Philippines!

    1. LOL…what makes you think I am not a strong person? You don’t even know me.

PNoy can’t even handle criticism. I eat criticism for breakfast. Of course I have a high opinion of myself. Why wouldn’t I? I have better ideas on how to manage the country and its people.

The only reason PNoy became President is because his mother died. That’s proof enough that voters only vote for individuals who are popular.

Stop insulting the intelligence of your fellows in saying you will not win because you are not popular…

You contradict your above statement with what you said here:

You must come from a low class unknown back ground…

Gees…a rational individual wouldn’t say “Our countrymen will always vote with the grace of god…” for sure.

      1. THE ONLY REASON OF WHY PNOY BECAME THE ABNOY IS THE HOCOS PCOS, JUST LIKE WHAT HIS CARDINAL SIN MOTHER IS ALL ABOUT, MONEY AND LAND GRABBING HACIENDA LUISITA, YOU ARE NOT WORTHY TO DIE FOR.

        1. Yes, I agree with you Midori(on “Only Duterte delivers”), because Duterte is an action man. He always wants things DONE FAST. That’s why he promised “three to six months” to guide him to do these things even FASTER….Good for the country, so that we can catch up with our progressive neighbors like Singapore, Taiwan, Hongkong and South korea, to name a few.

    2. “Stop insulting the intelligence of your fellows in saying you will not win because you are not popular.”
And those fellow Filipinos with intelligence you’re talking about are? The bobotantes who votes a candidate based on popularity rather than humble achievements (and your last line obviously reflects it)? And please stop using God for your self-righteous ultranationalism you religiot. Are you implying that God gives a damn in our country only?

    3. Are you kidding? Half of the guys commenting here would have done better than the current President. Perhaps even you! PNoy is a coward, liar, lazybones, worst President ever. And here you are consenting to it when you should be clamoring for him to act.

Take for example the proposed income tax reductions? He could have sucked it up and said: “OK, gov’t can operate with a little less, I’ll have to go after the people who can actually pay bigger taxes. Economy will likely grow bigger and more vibrant with my action.” But NOOOOO. Does he even give a good reason for his veto? NOOOO, he lets Mar Roxas of all people do the explaining. Is that what you call a statesman?

Then when the DAP was declared unconstitutional, instead of apologizing and assuring us that gov’t will take better care of public funds, what does he do? He goes on a tantrum and tries to destroy the credibility of a co-equal branch of government. Is that statesmanlike?

He is the absolute lowest common denominator. He shouldn’t be in office. And anyone can do better than him in ALL HUMILITY.

    4. Ay, naku! Kundi naman namatay si Cory di naman magiging presidente si PNoy. Tingnan mo ngayon ang mga tatakbong Prez at VP ngayon. Karamihan nakinabang kay Marcos. Grace Poe ( presidential pardon for Eddie Fernandez, Berting Labra, etc. dahil kay FPJ), Mar (Aranetas were Marcos crony), Chiz & Cayetano (fathers were given juicy positions in Marcos Gov’t).

  32. Comparing Noynoy with Marcos is like comparing Eat Bulaga with Star Wars. These are leagues apart.

Star Wars has a plot while Eat Bulaga is a pointless waste of time. I hope Pinoy’s taste for a leader will someday get back to one with at least some class.

I’ve been through martial law years myself – there was a general air of careful discipline, order, and vision-based progress. Filipino citizenship still carried with it some level of prestige.

It’s all been downhill ever since except for the time of Fidel Ramos.

  33. What’s the point in blaming each other about things we can change? I suggest you all stop blaming each other and just find a better solution to the problem at hand. Just because a person acts out like a good guy in movies or tv doesn’t mean that he or she is good in real life. Plus if you really don’t like the people who are elected then why don’t you run in the elections yourself instead? wala din naman masyado difference kung actor yung boboto nyo o isang walang alam yung paano maging ok na presidente or o ok na politiko. Like they say the only way to make a difference is to start with yourself.

    1. What’s the point in blaming each other about things we can change?

That statement doesn’t make any sense. It’s not easy to change the mindset of rabid Aquino supporters. Believe me, we have been warning them since 2009 that Noynoy will be bad for the country but they didn’t listen and still not listening. Which is why there is a need to highlight their mistake. In doing that, maybe, just maybe, they will come to their senses. Or at least those who have open minds will realise the error of their ways.

  34. Yes, there were failings under this administration, but to say that the Marcos years were heaven, that’s a lot of bugger! Well, if you’re an apologist or a revisionist maker of the Marcoses, well bring it on!

    1. @Dex Villanueva

Where in the article does it say “Marcos years were heaven”?

My goodness, you are reading something that’s not there.

And just because you think Marcos years was hell doesn’t mean people should turn a blind eye to PNoy’s failures.

    2. Hey failipino. Did you make that “the marcos years were heaven” line in order to troll the article because you’re too emo against marcos’s atrocities?

    3. MARCOS YEARS WAS HEAVEN THROUGH HIS MASAGNA99 LEGACY, AND HIS PHILIPPINE HEART CENTER LEGACY OF LOVING HIS FELLOW FARMERS AND CONVERTING THEM INTO LANDOWNERS, WHICH IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE FOR 32 YEARS OF KILLING AND DUMBDOWING THE HACIENDA LUISITA MENDIOLA MASSACRED VICTIMS OF THIS YELLOW OLIGARCHS LAND GRABBING FAMILY OF ISIDRA AQUINO. EVEN THIS HACIENDA LUISITA IS OWNED BY THE PHILIPPINE TREASURY, FOR THEY USED THE MONEY OF HERO ANTIONIO LUNA LOOT OF THE PHILIPPINE TREASURY.

Tapos balikan pa ninyo ang nakaraan….so ano pa ma_kukuwa ninyo doon?

  37. it is because we are all morons. we always put marcos and aquinos in power. the problem is in the people. we are stupid and ignoramuses.

  39. Ilda, you should know by now that the sorry state of the “education” system in this country does not prepare Filipinos for critical thinking. They cannot fathom the fact that what they see in the really crappy Filipino daytime soap operas is not what life is supposed to be or that making people do stupid shit in the streets of their barangay for a measly pittance of P500 or even P1000 simply is an embarrassment for them AND the entire Filipino nationality.

The Aquino/Cojuangco family is a cancer on the face of the earth. Cory famously passed the Agrarian Reform program to redistribute land to landless farmers but also managed to exempt her family holdings (Hacienda Luisita) from the act. How is it that the people of this country seem to forget that famous crime?

If the people of this country were actually capable of THOUGHT they would fire EVERY politician in the country who has relatives in political office. Probably the only politician who has earned his or her own money is Pacquiao but I’m not sure he is capable of being a decent politician but we will see when he is elected senator and is retired from boxing. I’m willing to see what he can do when he works full time in government. Of course I can’t vote here but I hope for better things for my children here than what I have seen in my 12 years of living here.

The responses to the article by Ilda do not give me hope for much, if any, improvement though.

    1. @Jerry

What’s baffling is the behaviour of so-called “educated” members of society. Some of them were educated overseas. But somehow, they think the same way as the people who didn’t receive the same level of education. It has something to do with the society being so emotional. This is evident in the reason they voted for Noynoy – because his mother died.

  40. Nagrereklamo kayo!! Eh diba wala naman sa plano niya na tumakbo as president nun! Kayong mga taong bayan ang namilit just because namatay si cory!! Tapos magrereklamo kayo, talk about idiocracy.

    1. Ahem…please note that some of us here have been warning people not to vote for Noynoy Aquino just because his mother died. So we’re not just complaining. We’ve been vindicated.

Unfortunately, a lot of those who voted for Noynoy still do not realise that they made a mistake that’s why we have to continue highlighting their irrational behaviour.

  41. The main reason why Marcos posts are popping up like crazy nowadays is because of all the whitewashing that’s happening right now. That’s all. It does not mean that these same people support Noynoy, or even the Aquino family. Stop thinking that there’s only two sides in the this matter.

  42. I can’t say that i lived the Marcos era, So if there’s anything I can contribute to this discussion is this: If we are to compare Marcos to PNoy then it should be on both the good and the bad they contributed to the philippines.

Marcos was once the best and the worst leader the Philippines could have. I think his “best” can be observed with his 3-time re-election and the amount of change he introduced to the Philippines. He built so much in his time and the quality of living in his first terms were arguably better than today’s standards. However Marcos turned to worst in his last term with the ML and all the social injustices he did.

However, I describe PNoy to be a “good” leader. Here’s why. 1st, the arguments presented by Ms. Ida. I think she nailed the presentation of her arguments but she needs to cite her sources if possible. Specially those that aren’t well documented or hidden by the administration.

2nd, his SONAs. Did any of you subscribed to PNoy’s SONA? then i’ll present my TL;DR version as i interpret it. (1) everything is grand. from the guests, to their dresses to the red carpet entrance. Why is this my first point? it’s because just outside the SONA location, there are people whose concerns are not heard. Then there’s the politicians whose main concern were how they look and not how their constituents look. Isn’t it aggravating that the politicians show their fancy clothes while their constituents were dirt poor? insulting. (2) Everything is positive. I get that PNoy’s updating his “bosses” what he did for the year, however it should be both good and bad. In short, everything. That’s how to report to the bosses. Give every information about your work. Do not sugar coat nor hide nor disregard negative results and events. EVERYTHING. (3) His policies that are “good”. Seriously, how is 5 P’s a good thing? How is the advertisement of vocational courses a viable take on education? Bullshit. If the Aquino administration cares, then the best course of action is to give people jobs. Those who should be given 5Ps should be families with incapacitated mothers and/or fathers. Everyone else should be given jobs with decent wages and not pity money. And the state should focus on creating professionals like engineers and scientists and not vocational workers to be sent overseas to be workers. Our people should like and love to work on their own hometown. But no, the Aquino administration cuts the state university budget and advertises the technical courses. Sad.

    1. Speaking of jobs and scientists, we could have employed some of the country’s most brilliant minds in the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant as nuclear physicists. Too bad it’s just a tourist attraction now which employs “nuclear physicists” as tour guides.

Blame some of it on Cory, she had to mothball the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant because “people will remember Marcos because of it.” She actually let the people suffer the blackouts and power shortages during her term without resorting to the BNPP. I even remember that if smart phones are the “uso gadget” these days, back then pinauso ni Cory ang emergency lights. Di ka “in” kung wala kayo nun sa bahay.

South Korea had a sister plant to BNPP. It was similar in build, make, and plans. Kori 1 for them has proven so profitable that it almost completely funded at least the next three plants they put up. We were on par with South Korea back then. Look at them now, and try to explain how their cheaper power did not have the least bit of an effect on how developed they currently are.

  43. Masagana99 Marcos legacy lives forever for almost 32 years of this MAD PNOY hacienda luisita kulangkulang99 who massacred the farmers and withheld their rightful promise of mambo mambo Magsaysay our Democracy will die kung wala ang pangako ng ating hero white horse magsaysay

  44. masagana99 Marcos conversions of a quarter of a million peasants, will truly outshine the MAD Pnoy kulangkulang99 of killing hacienda luisita farmers and pagpag eaters that turned our country to third world status..

  45. A serious researcher could write intelligently about cancer despite having been cancer free all his/her life. There is a load of material by the ‘New England Journal of Medicine’ the ‘Memorial Sloan Keterring Cancer Enter’ and the ‘Massachussetts Journal of Medicine’ to learn from. Where the Marcos years are concerned, however, the reference material is numerous, as are the authors, as are the versions, as are the spins. The physics that applies here is…”an empty space, (a vacuum) will suck in any and all information available”. In writing about something over which one has had no actual experience, a reliable ‘bibliography’, or the identities of the sources would be helpful.

    1. You are reading something that is not there. The article didn’t dispute the atrocities that happened during the Marcos years.

      Please read the article again.

    2. wHAT HORRORS OF THE MARCOS MASAGANA99 LEGACY OF 22 YEARS OF FIRST WORLD STATUS OF THE PHILIPPINES? WHERE FOR ALMOST 32 YEARS NOW OF THE MAD PNOY CORRUPT SYSTEM OF SENATONG TANDA AND HIS NAPOLIST LIST OF MONEY BATHUB AUDITORS. WHOSE EXISTENCE IS A 30 YEARS OF CORRUPT SYSTEM, THAT WAS DESIGNED TO MAKE THE PHILIPPINES A THIRD WORLD STATUS COUNTRY OF PAGPAG EATERS AND CEMETERY DWELLERS, WHICH IS THE WORKS OF SHULTZ AND BOSSWORTH IN THE STARTING KILLING OF NINOY AQUINO WHOSE ASSASINATION HAS BEEN STALLED FOR 32 YEARS OF YELLOW OLIGARCHS MASS DECEPTIONS.

  46. this is the same writer who wrote about the incompetency of Aquino in 2010 and the stupidity of the filipino people for choosing him. if I remembered correctly you also wrote that Aquino would be no match against GMA. there is even a possibility that this man would not finish his term because he is inept and inexperience. some of the commentators in her column even predicted that gma would be a big torn to aquino. she would lord it over in congress and probably succeed in being the speaker of the house. it would result to uncooperative congress. some even suggested that if voted for office aquino would tank the economy just like what estrada did. he would have no clue to what is going on in the government that people around him could easily manipulate him. he would be so stupid that the VP could easily plot to remove him.

and now your making him out to be some kind of marcos genius? A person who is a tyrant, persecuted political enemies, convince the media and the nation it is the right thing to do & orchestrated the DAP and then got away unscathed unlike his predecessors that got pilloried.

    1. @Claire

The only thing correct about what you said is this: “this is the same writer who wrote about the incompetency of Aquino in 2010 and the stupidity of the filipino people for choosing him.

and this: “he would have no clue to what is going on in the government that people around him could easily manipulate him”

As for the rest, you are mistaken. I didn’t say those things.

I didn’t say that he is “some kind of marcos genius”. Your interpretation is incorrect.

Noynoy is an insecure person and he is masking his insecurity by acting like a bully. Since he had no concrete policy when he came into office, he can be easily manipulated by people around him. This is evident in how Budget Secretary Abad manipulated him into approving the DAP and how Deles and Ferrer convinced him that the BBL is the answer to the “peace” in Mindanao. Noynoy had no idea that both DAP and the BBL were unconstitutional.

    2. Wow, you are complaining that the author isn’t Nostradamus.

On the contrary. The authors have been very CONSISTENT in their assertions that PNoy will be (and in fact, is) bad for the country.

In fact, history even turned out to be worse than what Ilda could ever have predicted back in 2010! Who would have thought that this incompetent guy, instead of suffering through an uncooperative congress, actually bought them out with DAP and pork barrel. Luckily those slush funds got exposed so no we know that Ilda had been right all along about PNoy’s incompetence.

      1. @Dick

One doesn’t have to be Einstein to know that someone who got voted into office only because his mother died will be bad for the country.

  47. CHECK OUT THIS LINK >>> “Joker Arroyo: Warrior vs naked power; titan among political pygmies” by Tiglao >> http://goo.gl/v85UL6

In a number of ways, it supports what Ilda says in her article and should settle several disagreements going on in this combox.

  48. MAD PNOY BLAMING OF MARCOS FOR ALMOST 32 YEARS OF MAD PNOY YELLOW OLIGARCHS HACIENDA LUISITA SELF INTEREST OF THEIR OWN HACIENDA IS THE MOST EVIL EMPIRE OF THE PHILIPPINES THAT MADE PILIPINOS THE THIRD WORLD STATUS COUNTRY OF PAGPAG EATERS AND CEMETERY DWELLERS, COURTESY OF THE GREATEST THEIF sENATONG TANDA AND HIS NAPOLIST LIST OF MONEY BATHUB AUDITORS FOR 30 YEARS OF MAD PNOY CORRUPT SYSTEM.

  49. It’s still the same story under the Marcoses. If you’re rich, you’re well taken care of. If you’re poor, it’s tragic. I don’t understand this delusional memory that there was a halcyon period post-Independence, be it Marcos or Aquino.

I honestly thought this was a non-partisan, candid website. Then after a wave of articles ejaculating on the Marcoses, I realised this had everything to do with criticizing the very sectors that participated in EDSA 96: The Catholic Church, the “elite” University students, the party-ing masa, etc.

Sure Marcos wasn’t proven guilty. Come to think of it, not a single politician’s in jail for corruption. If we follow that logic, THEREFORE, CORRUPTION IS NOT A PROBLEM IN THE PHILIPPINES. So why is everyone crying about CORRUPTION when not a single politician’s been proven guilty?

    PLEASE EXPLAIN.

    1. pILIPINO ARE POLITICALLY BLIND INSIGHT OF 32 YEARS OF MAD PNOY KULANGKULANG99 CREATION OF A THIRD WORLD STATUS FROM USURPING THE FIRST WORLD STATUS OF MASAGANA99 GREAT NATION LEGACY OF FERDINAND E. MARCOS OF 22 YEARS ECONOMIC FIRST WORLD GREATNESS

  55. – Ilda
    ========
I think we should talk about everything that was wrong under Martial law and under this administration. Just because there are issues happening that you do not like under an administration that you hate doesn’t make it right to tell people to talk about more of the now than the past. Wrong is wrong regardless whether it happened in the ten years ago or yesterday.

PNoy will answer for those things that he may be called to account for when his term is done but don’t make it appear that just because you have a beef against him Marcos’ record can already be ignored.

Ilda, being one-sided is different from being one-sided and playing blind.

  58. The four include the CIA’s general counsel Stephen Preston, the National Security Council’s legal adviser Mary DeRosa, then-Rear Admiral James Crawford III, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff legal adviser Jeh Johnson. Together they cleared legal hurdles that stood between the US and enemy no. 1.
So secretive was their work that in the days before the raid they were unable to consult the administration’s top lawyer, Attorney General Eric Holder. They could not use legal aides or assistants so they took care of their own research.
The most difficult part of their job, according to the Times, was not knowing how the raid would play out. As a result, they drafted a number of scenarios and found legal loopholes for each. so it was not OBAMA to be credited in Capturing Osama, or is it OBama

  59. “Filipinos today are being lulled into thinking that the country is safe in the hands of President Benigno Simeon Aquino and his allies – members of the oligarchy. In fact, as early as 1986, after the late former President Cory Aquino took over from Marcos, Philippine mainstream media and other showbiz personalities allied with her government created the illusion that the country is better off under the Aquinos. The Filipino people have been lied to for over 30 years.”

I was born in the same year MACOY got into prison…years had passed I find myself marching onto the city streets shouting vindictive accusations to MACOY…he was then the president…comes CORY…we thought we FOUGHT the “good” side for the People of the Philippines…but seems it HELL-BOUND we go now…the CORY CLAN and EVER DECEIVING PANOT is DRIVING FILIPINOS and THE PHILIPPINES into oblivion should we not stop them NOW…WE HAVE BEEN DECEIVED NOT JUST LIED (liar-is a too sweet & fragrant soft word to describe THE AQUINOS AND COJUANGCOS)…in fact because of WHAT THEY DID…WE ARE NOW FACING AN IMPOSSIBLE DREAM TO REPAIR THE DAMAGES THEY HAVE COMMITTED…but WE are little Filipinos that doesn’t and never give up on something we have faith onto…HOPE this Manuscript(I would say)… would reach every Filipinos Worldwide and be be awakened about the hidden truth of our plight, and be the torch amongst us to shed a little glimmering light for a brighter future…

    1. Budhi mara,

The only “safe” place in the Philippines is inside the people’s imaginations. This is the reason why Filipinos are delusionally euphoric; they are afraid to face the brutal truth because it hurts too much.

      Aeta

  60. Unfortunately, Filipinos are like the people of the UK, BELIEVE what they are told by Politicians without looking back to previous promises that NEVER materialize!

What we can do for our country is whats important.. Lets be a good parent by raising our kids with right values(God fearing, patriot, kind, problem solver, etc),good students by doing good in academics, invisioning his future and observing what happening to know the best solution that they would apply if they are the one to address a certain situation; and doing extra mile in everything that they do..
Thank you for this article. It gave us the chance to share idea to help our country.. I would like to encourage everyone to help at least a poor filipino family of a street children to have the oportunity to have a better life.. We may not be able to taste the fruits of our efforts as patriots but the next generations will if we will do everything to we guide the children to be the best citizens or atleast an improve version of us.God bless Philippines..

    1. To Aaron…
Well said sir. I hope your post resonates with everyone, and will reach those who can make a difference. Thanks for your thoughts.

    2. Maganda sana ang mga huli mong nasabi but there are big important issues that certain people are really accountable of na hindi pwedeng tanggapin na lang. As to blaming ourselves, should we blame ourselves when 44 SAF got massacred because of our officials’ wrong call and neglect? The only time that we are to be blamed in connection to that event is when we turn a blind eye and not ask for justice for the massacred PNP-SAF. If justice is not served, I’m sorry but our children and children’s children will also come upon or suffer that kind of injustices in the future if not worst. It’s good to equip the future generation to combat themselves from the crook or not be the crook themselves but it’ll be more difficult to fight in the future because a problem not being resolved only get worse as time passes. Besides, with the way our government and our popular media “educate” our people and younger generation where even the parents who are supposed to teach them proper values and encourage them to seek intelligence are dumb down, can this country really achieved a more dependable and disciplined lot? So if nobody addresses the issues that needed correction or change, what do you think will get better?

  62. why on earth do we need to resurrect this martial law issue when the current issues are more of national security and interest? why?

why can’t they criticize the previous gov’t. of cory for her contribution in letting in the Chinese to do what they want inside the Phil territory?

is the marital law the solution for this foreign intrusion? or it’s just to cover up the ugly side of mrs. cory aquino?

this intrusion is disturbing. they are stealing our resources intended for our fishermen.

yet, i don’t blame the Chinese for their action. they do what is right as expansionists when someone from the inside encourage them what to do.

removing the US bases that protect our sovereignty is totally madness and suicidal.

how cud these Yel-Low-IQ turds celebrate the Edsa freedom despite that the Chinese are almost at our gate? u Hypocrite!

  63. i cnt believe some of the comments here..

      1. I had no idea that Marcos ‘IS’ still alive. I don’t want to sound facetious;, but, I don’t want to be confused either.

US or nasa ibang bansa.

  65. @ilda,

You are sick. Remember the failure of our President is the failure of all filipinos. Instead of spreading the negatives of the aquino why not spread the positive side as well. Stop telling people that aquinos are worst people. You should rememeber that filipino people appointed them. So why not blame your fellow countrymen first?

    1. Don’t you realize? These fellow countrymen that you spoke of are the same people who voted Noynoy in the first place! Honestly, you’re actually blind how incompetent he was.

  66. We can all agree in one thing that the government has continually failed us, Martial law or EDSA cant save
us. We are at the mercy of Oligarchs and political elites who runs the system. Modern day tyrants disguised as public servants.

  67. It’s easy to spot that this is written by a pro-Marcos writer as opposed to an unbiased one. You’re the one who’s manipulating your words to project a good image for Marcos.

    1. And it’s easier to spot that your post is coming from a TROLL and a POINT-MISSER. You’re the one who’s manipulating your words to project a good image of the Aquino-Cojuangco clan.

      Go figure.

    2. Says the failipino who quickly labels the author as pro-marcos only because the article looks like “anti-aquino”. Kababae mong nilalang tanga naman.

  68. I am never reading anything from getrealphilippines again. You publish nothing but hate and distortion of facts. My God, you think any form of compensation is enough after discovering that your family member was tortured and brutally murdered? That is IF they were compensated. I am not even going to tell you to be ashamed of yourselves. You are just awful people with no insight and just simply fuelled by hate. I am never reading anything from this website again.

    1. Hate? That is a very strong word. I wouldn’t use that.

What distortion of facts? Please be specific. Thanks

Of course I have nothing to be ashamed of. I am speaking out against criminal behaviour of this government. The problem with some people is they think only Marcos committed atrocities against Filipinos. They are not thinking straight.

    2. Ninoy Aquino was not a Filipino citizen when he died; he was a Malaysian citizen. His passport and other personal belongings disappeared when he died (personal items of the deceased are usually in the hands of the family).

He had to pass through KL Malaysia before returning to PH to make Last Will and Testament with his bank account in KL Malaysia. That bank account was how Malaysia pays Ninoy his Treason Fee and also his under-the-table collection for Malaysia’s stealing of Sabah. The same bank account, that I call the TREASON FUND, funded the formation of MNLF-MIM and CPP-NPA in 1969, funded EDSA-1, even EDSA-2, and in building the Aquino-Cojuanco political and business empire in the PH.

Hanggang ngayon, ang kamandag nyang Ninoy Treason Fund ay patuloy na ginagamit at pumipinsala sa Pilipinas

      1. To Mr. Herrera,
You probably have incontrovertible evidence to be able to write with such bold confidence. In any case, you must be a very inventive writer. I’m surprised that you seem to have missed your calling as an author of very intriguing fiction. What amazes me more, though, is why GRP encourages and propagates such fiction.

        1. And failipinos like you believe too much on what the yellow journalism feeds you which is nothing but propaganda.

  69. Ninoy and Cory Aquino was not even able to rule them, Aquino is not he a hero Ninoy dying for political ambition is not HEROISM , in their time and until now the Aquino and Cojuangco the richest families in the Philippines , hiding their wealth help of ABS -CBN because they hold it . ABS – CBN did not disclose hidden information and resources katuwalian of Aquino and the Cojuangco family .

  70. Oh please, you troyallists… do you really think people are as stupid as you guys are? What did US president Abraham Lincoln say? You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people ALL the time, but you cannot all the people all the time.” In the end, you loyalists are really fooling no one but yourselves. Sad.

  71. No to another Marcos, please. For those who have not witnessed the “rule” of Ferdinand Marcos, I urged you to please avoid sharing your thoughts because you were still not been born yet. Thus, you were not an eye witness. Marcos declared Martial law on September 21, 1972, first and foremost, to prolong his term which was supposed to end on December 31, 1973. Because of that declaration he has extended his stay as president for another 12 years , one month and 25 days until he was forced out on exile to Hawaii, USA on February 25, 1986. He planned everything since the beginning when he entered politics. From congressman, he became senator, then senate president(of the ruling Liberal Party then) until he went on to run for president in 1965 (under the banner of the opposing Nacionalista Party). He defeated Diosdado Macapagal (A Liberal Party man). When his first four-year term was about to end in 1969, he ran for re-election and was re-elected after massive government vote buying and terrorism. According to him, in one of his meetings with partymates, a president who lose a re-election bid is “foolish”. Because he was not foolish he overspent so much using government funds and won. But a little over a month after his re-election, the value of the peso went “down so fast” (plunged) due to oversupply of money in circulation, forcing Central Bank of the Philippines to float the value of the peso from the traditional “four pesos to a US dollar” to a range 12 to 17 pesos to a US dollar. That’s one of the “very bad” legacies of Mr. Marcos. NOTE: Succeeding Presidents Cory Aquino, Fidel Ramos, Erap Estrada failed to stop the continued slide in the value of the peso until its lowest level of 56 pesos to 1 US dollar about two months after Estrada was ousted from the presidency. It was only Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who succeeded pulling the value of the peso up to 38 to a US dollar. It was at this level when Filipino exporters came rushing in to complain of there losses. So, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (with new name) set the value of the peso officially at about 42 to a US dollar. Now under this administration, it is set at 46 or 47 to a US dollar. Now, back to martial law, Marcos closed down all newspapers, TV stations, and radio stations, in short he clamped down all media outlets , and established his own Philippine Daily Express and one weekly magazine The Expressweek. He suspended almost completely the freedoms of the Filipinos and established himself as a DICTATOR. Dictatorship in the Philippines was another legacy of Mr. Marcos. He also closed down all businesses owned and operated by his political opponents. This scared up many investors many of them also closed shop. Another legacy of Mr. Marcos the downfall of the manufacturing sector, which until now hasn’t even totally recovered after more than 30 years. Because of all these negative events under martial law, the exudos of Filipinos going abroad to seek greener pastures went on unabated. Another bad legacy of Mr. Marcos. But of all these negative legacies of Mr. Marcos the HUMAN RIGHTS violations stood over and above all!!!!!!

    1. edgar de dios says:

“For those who have not witnessed the “rule” of Ferdinand Marcos, I urged you to please avoid sharing your thoughts because you were still not been born yet.”

“Marcos declared Martial law on September 21, 1972, first and foremost, to prolong his term which was supposed to end on December 31, 1973.”

Young People (who “were still not been born yet” during that time.) says:

“Mr. Edgar De Dios, Watch and Learn!”

        1. It doesn’t matter of what your bayaw says. At the end, the Marcos regime has both their own ups and downs. Honestly speaking, it was Noynoy Aquino who is the baddest president, not Marcos. Unfortunately, you let your emotions get the better of you.

Don’t tell me that you’re very glad that the Mendiola Massacre happened. Of course, you won’t tell me because you saw those innocents killed or hurt are pro-Marcos supporters, and that’s beyond sad and pathetic. Pinagtatawanan mo lang ang sarili mo, iha.

    2. That’s a pretty messed up comment from a TROLL like yourself. 🙂

With all due respect to the Martial Law victims: from 1965 to 1971, Marcos has no human rights atrocities. Cory in her first year as president comes the infamous Mendiola Massacre. And in case you don’t notice, Martial Law was lifted in 1981 then 5 years later Marcos was ousted.

And here we talk about this “freedom”. Alright, you say he suppressed the “freedoms” of the Filipinos and so does Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew and look at Singapore right now.One of my friends even said this:

1986 EDSA People Power – barely 2% of the country’s population were there. Why is it called people power? I was not there during that time, I was in school studying, they didn’t ask my opinion. And same goes to most other peace loving people not within the vicinity of the NCR. Let’s just call it as it is, a mob.

What resulted is a mob rule. Anarchy. Everyone “gained freedom” when the evil dictator left Malacanang. Freedom to do whatever they liked. Instead of peace and order, people held on to their “freedom”. Look at the country now. Poverty, unemployment, squatters, garbage in very street corner, dilapidated public transport, snatchers holdapers, etc. There is your freedom.

The way I see it, Filipinos loved their freedom to violate every rule and order. It is evident from the results. Look at us now. Disrespect to our law and order, disrespect to each other and to ourselves.

Is THIS the freedom that you are talking about that Marcos supposedly suppressed? Heck, Park Chung Hee and Lee Kuan Yew ruled as DICTATORS yet they changed their respective countries. Even LKY himself stated that what the Philippines need is DISCIPLINE than democracy. You need to connect the dots.

Oh yeah, he also closed down businesses owned by RICH FAMILIES so he could use it for national interests. And when he left, these rich families are back in business and they keep dragging this country into the mud even further. Meralco and such companies may have a word for you.

In other words, 30 years AFTER Marcos is far more worse than the Martial Law years. And it’s a FACT. And you’re still butthurt since you’re just another IAF (Idiot Aquino Follower) waiting for his paycheck from the Yellow Camp. Deal with it, son. 🙂

      1. even your beloved LKY detests President Marcos. eat it.

“The difference lies in the culture of the Filipino people. It is a soft, forgiving culture. Only in the Philippines could a leader like Ferdinand Marcos, who pillaged his country for over 20 years, still be considered for a national burial.”

        eto pa:

Ver, Marcos and the rest of the official family plunged the country into two decades of lies, torture, and plunder

Don’t you dare drag LKY in this. He did it out of genuine love for his country. Marcos did it for propaganda.

      2. Oh really? He closed down businesses then gave it to his friends! That’s what happened. Is Danding government? No. Are the Romualdezes government? No. Did they generate any profit back then? No. How did they earn money? Behest loans. Until our economy became entirely debt-driven.

        1. Danding and Romualdez are just a small part. But what I’m referring to is companies like Meralco, PLDT, Manila Water. He puts them into state ownership because basic commodities like electricity and water should never be privatized. Where did I heard that Marcos gave Meralco to his ‘friends’.

In case you don’t notice, when Cory became president, she gave PLDT to her relatives. She also gave back Meralco and ABS-CBN to the Lopez family and guess what, you are glad that because of them, the Philippines is the only country in Asia that has the highest electricity rates. Oh and ABS-CBN reeks of bias.

Marcos is just one oligarch. Now, it’s a multitude of oligarchs and they are much worse. What they did in the last 30 years made the former more of an amateur.

  72. Aquino clan never cared for the Philippines. It’s so obvious that they care only for their political image and allies. Eversince I never even saw them with the phil flag but always that cancerous sign of rellow ribbons. They kept of diverting the attention of Filipinos on the Martial Law that nothing to do with the presence situation of the country. All I can say is that this family promotes hatred and blaming games. I hope Filipinos will learn to analyze and see their black tactics.

  73. What the author is trying to say is quite simple. Oo, may development sa regime ni PNoy, but so was in the Marcos’. People in the Marcos regime were abused, but are you people not realizing that we are being abused NOW as well? Maybe you don’t, because you are not looking enough. You are not looking beyond what the media is showing you. Or, you don’t care enough. Look around. You can’t even walk in the streets of manila at night (or anywhere here) without the fear of getting hurt. People even get robbed IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. How is that different from the ML times? This country is INFESTED with corrupt leaders. And you dont even realize that the politics here is about business and not public service. Wake up. Nothing, comparing the two regimes, is better than the other.

I am not yet a voter, so I HOPE that you people are adult enough to actually give a damn for my, my younger cousins’ and siblings’, the next generation’s, and our country’s future. Pls.

  74. I was born when was Martial Law was created and grew up under the Marcos regime. Compared to the life after President Marcos fled until now, I’m a testament that life was better then than it is now. I was never afraid during the time of President Ferdinand Marcos. The only time I was unsure of my future was after President Ferdinand Marcos left the country. Everything was downhill when Cory Aquino became president. The Philippines is at it worse right now. And the next president whoever wins will have a gargantuan task to improve this country’s situation.

    1. The fact that you can freely express yourself now is a testament of democracy working. What is your basis for saying that life was better during the Marcos years? As a young child during martial law, did you experience repression and be called a communist subversive for speaking out against injustices committed on people you know? And what is your basis for saying that life was worse afterwards? Despite the problems (in large part inherited from systematic destruction of institutions and values by the Marcoses) regaining our rights and liberties was a sweet nectar that was well worth it!

      1. It seems you’re actually missing the point. And yes, life was worse afterwards. We chose stupid and inept leaders, crime rate is very high and thanks to our economic policies, this country keeps on regressing.

It’s really funny to think that things like anarchy and the freedom to do whatever they liked is considered some ‘sweet nectar’ to you, then you’re delusional.

Sad to say, the ‘sweet nectar’ that you have is nothing but pure crap. But like I said, Yellow Zombies like yourself are nothing but all crap and no substance. TBH, you just disrespected the people who lived good lives during the Martial law years and loved to overrate stuff. If I were you, stop this crybaby crap of yours. It’s not helping.

      2. Regaining our rights and liberties? Lel, nice joke because it’s just the opposite. Yes, the people are free but STUPID. And because they are stupid, they’ll throw things like DISCIPLINE and RESPONSIBILTY in the trash.

More like sacks of shit than ‘sweet nectar’. Thanks for admitting that people like you are the ones who are killing the Faillipines.

      3. Jeez are you idiot aquino followers love to attack us with your “you can’t type freely without democracy” spiel when in fact that is only a minority of it? I bet you’re one of the commietards during martial who caused nothing to the Filipino people but trouble. And why overrating martial law too much when it only lasted 9 years? Hell, why blame macoy for it when it was ramos and enrile the masterminds of it? pinoy nga naman oo ginagamit palagi ang puso hindi ang utak.

  75. mga tao dito. pag di Marcos, Aquino. wow. what a dichotomy.

    1. To Mr. Obrero..
Your comments on this matter are the more sensible ones to-date. Thanks for the reminder. The big winners or losers in a political fight are not the protagonist-politicians. It is the people.. all the time.

  76. The points which the writer brings up against the Aquinos are at the most part underwhelming. While some are true it is unfair to present it as a conspiracy. The title screams that the 6 years are WORSE than the Marcos years, that got my attention! But hey, while those are important how can you even bring then up on the same level of atrocities as the Marcos tyrannical years! No wonder this article is not on mainstream media it is again one of those unbalanced, biased, bigoted allegations that mislead people especially the young who were not around during the Marcos years. Shame on you for manipulating young, unsuspecting minds and promoting hate and disillusionment thru your brand of journalism!!

    1. Underwhelming? More like accurate. I just want to share this post from GRP residential commenter and writer Add just in order to get it to your thickheaded skull:

THREE DECADES since the bloodless revolution. THIRTY YEARS! What an opportunity to blot out a name equated to dictatorship, plunder, greed and abuse. The Filipino people had THREE DECADES to render an influence, powerless. THIRTY YEARS. THREE DECADES.

      Exactly, Mike.

30 Years is all it took for China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia to overtake the Philippines. The war ravaged Vietnam will overtake us in 5 years. And now, it will take 50 years for the Philippines to even reach the status at which these countries are now, assuming the Philippines corrects it’s course today and assuming it can.

30 years of trying to hide that Marcos was not unique in Asia. Dictatorship was the zeitgist of the time, and Marcos looked like a kindergarten in terms of brutality and plunder compared to the dictators of China, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, South Korea, and Indonesia. 30 years of writing half truths in history.

30 years of glorifying EDSA1, which indeed the world admired. 30 years, other countries did not need the admiration of the world; they just gradually and QUIETLY made the transition from military rule to democracy. Now, other countries have proven EDSA1 was a stupid move, and they cannot stop laughing. And they won’t stop laughing even this 2016, as we will vote again the lesser evil.

30 years of propaganda and half truths. Now, the people are free, but stupid. The most dangerous lies are those that are nearest to the truths.

30 years, they had all the chance to make the Marcoses accountable, and 30 years they have failed. And now, they want the Junior Marcos to apologize in lieu of their failure. What a convenient way to cover their miserable failures. Indeed, the most dangerous lies are those that are nearest to the truths.

30 years ago, there was just one plunderer. Today, there are plunderers left and right that if you total what has been plundered for 30 years, that one plunderer 30 years ago now looks like an amateur. The national budget during the military rule looks like peanuts now compared to the three Trillion budget of today. And yet, they trumpet that Yellows are of Daan Matuwid. Indeed, a lie that is repeated often enough becomes a truth.

30 years ago, there were projects left and right. Today, there are projects left and right, but they remain in the drawing boards, instead of being implemented as before. And yet, they call that development. Indeed a lie that is repeated often enough becomes a truth.

30 years ago there was heavy foreign borrowing to support projects. Today, we are back to heavy foreign borrowing to support non-existing projects, but just to flood the system with cash. Thus, we have a glut in real estate, a car industry driven by low interest credits, a consumer market driven by easy to get credit cards, five fold smuggling, and gambling, illegal or not. Of course, what is obtaining is a BUBBLE economy, and they call that the fastest growing economy. I call it a donut economy as it is empty in the middle. If a hostile administration takes over in 2016, of course, they will burst that bubble economy so that the next administration will have a hard time bursting the lies and bubble of 30 years. That is the truth and not a lie.

30 years ago, there was controlled media. Today, the media men, who lost their jobs, are back with vengeance. There is free speech. They just make sure the Yellows have the loudest speech. Who needs free speech when your speech is drowned out anyway.

30 years ago, there was curfew. Today, you can move at night, except there are criminals waiting for you. What the hell, I might as well stay at home.

30 years ago, there were strikes left and right, but Marcos would not even dare busting the labor unions. Today, there is industrial peace, but there is also ENDO; the busting of unions have been made complete.

30 years ago, there was poverty. Today, there is poverty, but there is CCT. The yellows want the poor to remain poor by teaching them mendicancy. It is the institution of pauperism, so that oligarchs can be institutionalized.

30 years ago, there was no technology. Today, there is technology, and the Yellows say we should be proud of this. So, we pay the highest energy cost, the most expensive pokey internet, the highest taxes, the lowest SSS benefits, etc. Why? The Yellows have the illusions technology came from them. They live their own lies.

30 years ago, there was one man rule. Today, the yellow rules, and no one man rules, but that is only so, so that people will not know who can be held responsible for all the lies that have been perpetuated all these 30 years.

P.S. I laughed at what you said that this piece is not on the mainstream media because the mainstream media is also full of unbalanced, bigoted, and biased allegations that also misled people as well. Your last sentence shows signs of butthurt. But that’s what Yellowtards do: hit-and-run tactics. All crap and no substance to be exact.

    2. Implying that the mainstream media’s “news” are always gospel truths even if a lot of them are half-truths. You just don’t want to think outside of the box because you prefer stupidity than critical thinking. The problem with martial law crybabies like you is that you love to demonize marcos very much because from what cory aquino taught you, revenge is sweet for you drama queen.

  77. If you believe in this article…then Philippines has no hope of ever getting out poverty. FILIPINOS are lambs and easily forgets all the good things this man has done!… this article is written by pro Marcos…we are stupid for putting any of marcos family in power…stupid we did not imprison Enrile because of his age…you must pay the crime….stupid for making an ex president as mayor who has been impeached and found corrupt. Dont believe in this article…those that have left Philippines can see the bigger picture…Ninoy has started a change a cultural change…stop corruption…be an official who serves others…not serve themselves

    1. If anybody believes in your stupid comment, then there is no hope for the Philippines for getting out of poverty… because of people like you. It’s obvious that you’re a pro-Aquino in a sense. And wait, you want to make Wrap relevant in this?

And no, I lived in the Philippines for the whole 29 years of my life and I’ve seen the bigger picture than most of you trollfags try to tell us. And no, Ninoy never started a change; he’s more like a political opportunist. And your claim is a blatant lie: corruption wasn’t stopped but was institutionalized by Aquino-Cojuangcos and their personal cronies. In fact, they’re the ones who served themselves, not others.

Like I said, Yellow Zombies are actual cowards: always relying on hit-and-run tactics. All I can say is, congratulations, you just went FULL RETARD with what you wrote. Deal with it.

      1. Have we easily forgotten those 30 years of what Marcos did to Philippines – the PURE plundering that his family has not even paid back, is it so easy to forget? For those that were not born during that time…please do your research, and go outside of Philippine knowledge and dredge out old news from all over the world. 30 years of pay under the table culture, of officials plundering the country, and it goes all the way to the officials in each barangay…this type of behaviour still exist in Philippines….and you are saying that Aquino is far worse?….OMG wake up Pinoys, those OLD enough to remember, if you are only 29 years old STFU, you do not know what it was LIKE under the dictatorship of MARCOS…I am not saying that Aquino is a Saint, I am sure he has made many mistakes along the way but he has paved the way to fight corruption and he can not win because 90% of officials – that’s my estimate is still Plundering Philippines.

        1. And it seems that you’re clueless about what happened 30 years AFTER Marcos left. You have to be thankful that he’s just one plunderer. Now, there are plunderers left and right and because of what they did, the so-called plunderer 30 years ago now looked like an amateur. The national budget of that military rule is peanuts compared to the 3.3 trillion budget of today. And the Yellows trumpet themselves as ‘Daang Matuwid’. If that is not corruption for you, then you have very low standards.

      2. You are 29 years old, you do not know what it was like during the 30 years reign of Marcos Dictatorship…I forgive you…for the record i am pro MIRIAM and DUTERTE…Pity you can not see that Aquino paved the way to fight corruption, he is no SAINT but he has started something goodn the others have NOT, let me know when you LEAVE PHILIPPINES and assess PHILIPPINES outside the country- I am sure your views will CHANGE

        1. And you are utterly BIASED and go CRYBABY MODE while I’m looking at both sides of the story. And no, if you’re pro-Miriam and pro-Duterte then you should NEVER had such thinking.

And again, the Aquino-Cojuangcos never paved the way of fighting corruption; in case you don’t notice, them and their personal cronies took advantage of the 1987 Constitution where they practically rob the public BLIND for 30 years! Stopping corruption, my ass. In fact, their institutionalize it.

Still, it’s better for you to COME here to the Philippines. I have put things in better perspective because I have reality-check. You leave the Philippines and you just rely what the Philippine media tells you. If you come HERE, not just your view will change but you will totally be surprised.

If someone should need pity then it’s you and your lack of intelligence is showing it.

        2. Apparently your clueless in the issue of poverty.

30 years ago, there was poverty. Today, there is poverty, but there is CCT. The yellows want the poor to remain poor by teaching them mendicancy. It is the institution of pauperism, so that oligarchs can be institutionalized

If that is not corruption for you, then I have no idea that you’re that actually clueless or you’re just trolling. Well, I believe it’s the latter.

        3. Forgive us youngins oh condescending old one. But you have only yourselves to blame. If only you worked for a prosperous and orderly Philippines, we may have seen it the other way, but as of now, all we see is evidence of the corruption and decadence of your generation. A mess that us youngins have to clean up for you.

So unless you cling on to something other than the past, do not presume to lecture us about the future.

  78. Nakakatawa yung nagsabi ditto sa comment section na malakas yung economy nung time ni Marcos kasi 20 pesos lang ang 1 dollar… For your information, bago nagging president si Marcos, below 4 pesos lang ang 1 dollar.

    1. And that is because of the Laurel-Langley Act of 1955, a trade agreement which was an amendment to the Bell Trade Act, which gave full parity rights to American citizens and businesses. Under this agreement, American citizens and businesses were able to own 100 percent of companies in any area of the economy. Kaya below 4 pesos lang ang 1 dollar dahil sa ganyan until it was expired in 1974. So masasabi natin na malakas ang economy natin until the early 1980s.

    2. If we insist in going the route of ‘defacto devaluations’ so as to compare the ‘Marcos” vs the ‘Aquino’ administrations; here are the figures: When Marcos took from Macapagal, the ‘Peso-to-Dollar’ exchange rate was PhP3.80: $1.00. When he was ousted, (driven out really), the rate was PhP18.00: $1.00… a 375% devaluation. Pnoy Aquino took over from Arroyo with the exchange rate at PhP48.00: $1.00; and is leaving with the rate at Php46.00 to $1.00… a 4.10% improvement. Currency devaluations, however, is at best, a tenuous way to judge a country’s economic performance. All countries experience currency fluctuations to varying degrees, depending on their productivity. China, for instance, in order to maintain their ‘export advantage’, is doing all it can to resist their currency’s ‘appreciation’ owing to a fired-up economy. The US on the other hand has long resigned to their currency’s slippage.. due to their hardly having any production.. and have since, just tried to manage inflation. One other onerous condition is that, the world’s currencies are pegged to the US Dollar.. now the only medium of international trade.
The devaluation of the Philippine Peso vis the US dollar might be an eye-opener, but can hardly be the basis of a whole Philippine economic story.

    1. GRP is no satire like the Adobo Chronicles but hindi siya kalinya ng mga biased na media outlet tulad ng ABS-CBN, Inquier, etc.

      Go figure.

  79. To Mr. O’Rosary…
The ‘Oldies” reminders are not condescension to the ‘young’uns’. It is simply resistance to the tendency of the young’uns to gloss over the atrocities and impunity of the ‘Martial Law’ dispensers (or, agenda for revisionism perhaps). Whether these included Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce-Enrile or not is immaterial. ‘Turncoats’ pop up in any era and in any country.. depending on ‘which side of their toast is buttered’, (I couldn’t resist the digression).
As regards the corruption that you bring up…the ‘Oldies’ of today were not the ones in power then; although they did cause the hasty absconding and departure of the chief instigators of Martial Law. That much, I think, you can admit.. or could you?

    1. Thats because us youngin’s know the difference between the sins of our fathers and the sins of their sons. Yes, our father’s generation sinned: they elected incompetents into our government; they evaded tax; blatantly flout our laws and spit on the streets. They propagated corruption at all levels. The worst atrocity of all is pretending that the massacres, incompetence and unresponsiveness of government services happening today are worth glossing over. Your generation shortchanged the future when you ratified the 1987 Constitution with its protectionist policies and unitary form of government. No, us youngins don’t want to perpetuate your mistakes. We will work hard, follow the laws and fix what needs fixing.

Before you remind us again about these so-called atrocities. Your generation had the time of their lives during martial law didn’t you? I hear from my parents that classes were always suspended. Lol, maybe you should go back to school and make up for those lost days..

Lastly, before you presume to lecture the younger generation, I want you to bow down to your children and apologize for this world that you helped create. That way, we can be fairly certain of your sincerity and familiarity with the issues of the present.

  80. If you focus on what has not been done, of course you will find a lot of people who have not yet benefited from the progress and growth that the Phil as a whole has already gone through. But what about those who benefited from the CHEAPER MEDICINES LAW, PHIL HEALTH FREE or at least partly subsidized DOCTOR’S FEES,TREATMENT and HOSPITALIZATION, protection for PRE-NEED (insurance, education plan) clients, SALINTUBIG, LAMBATSIBAT (most-wanted criminals captured), HUNDREDS OF KILOMETERS of barrio and provincial roads or FARM-to-MARKET INFRASTRUCTURE, ON-GOING MODERNIZATION of the PNP, AFP and the LOCAL POLICE.

I’ve also seen the improvement of the OLD MIA over the last 6 years during which I’ve accrued more than 150,000 miles on airline-tickets. Since 2013, I’VE ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO BEING ABLE TO GO TO A DECENT TOILET while waiting for my luggage AFTER A 9-HOUR FLT. (I also make sure I’ve got at least P20 to give to the toilet -lady and tell her how I appreciate her keeping the toilets clean.)

    8. Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Philippines (MNL)
manila airport terminal 2 by ryan silverio
“Absolutely horrible to connect through this airport if you arrive in one terminal and need to get to another (particularly between terminals 3 to 1). Shuttle buses are infrequent and can take over an hour in the traffic. And forget about taxis, the lines take even longer.” – a traveller – (I agree, this is true. What we need is an overhead or an underground monorail like in FRA and in most FIRST WORLD Airports.)
“Ever-contentious Manila International Airport seems to have permanently shed its title of Worst Airport in the World, which it held steadily from 2011 to 2013. Rehabilitation efforts have helped decongest and clean up Terminal 1, and the introduction of things like the Wings Transit Lounge in Terminal 3 have helped make things more comfortable, albeit for a price. That said, things like leaking ceilings in Terminal 1 and collapsing floors in Terminal 2 show there is still room for improvement. Passengers remain annoyed by the poor customer service, the long queues, the sub-par food selection, the lack of restrooms and the crowded seating areas. There is definitely a long way to go but we’re thrilled to see improvements come along bit by bit.

As for the worst place to die in: consider which countries were rated well – “United Kingdom was considered the best place to die in the world, along with other RICH NATIONS such as Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Belgium, Taiwan, Germany, the Netherlands and the US” – and which were rated low – “The country (Phil) ranked 78th …China 71st (!)and India 67th(!).” – and ask yourself, what is the GDP of China and India compared to that of the Phil. Also, note that this rating concerns PALLIATIVE CARE, (Google what that means! inform yourself) NOT general Health Benefits which are constantly improving with PHIL HEALTH. And if Sen. Sotto would stop blocking the budget for Family Planning for the Poor, then population management and Mother-infant care would also be improved.
    https://sg.news.yahoo.com/phl-among-worst-places-die

As for the traffic, try the (A for Autobahn) A3 between Frankfurt and Würzburg or the Kölner Ring during rush hours, or the A3-A9 to the Austrian border at the start of the school holidays and in the opposite direction at the end of school holidays. The Phil is not alone. The heat and pollution also compound the suffering. Plans are there for more big projects. However, one solution will hurt car-owners: implementation of technical checks every two years to lessen pollution and phase-out old dilapidated vehicles. This will be a boost to the car industry and to independent repair and maintenance shops, but anti-corruption has to make sure that the technical tests are done by reliable, unbribe-able authorities and the standards for exhaust-level and the guidelines for road-worthiness have to be set (leaking oil, rust, worn-out brakes, wiring etc). Also, the cost of learning how to drive and the test will increase (subsidized for the poor?) Get rid of the attitude that you can buy a license – don’t even offer it, and report it if a tester fails you arbitrarily and offers to pass you for a fee. Ihabla iyan! Change starts with the individual. And change also hurts.

Most important of all, FIRST INFORM YOURSELF. of the DIFFERENCE between DAP and PDAF. Stop confusing the two.
    http://opinion.inquirer.net/…/dap-vs-pdaf-the-big…

Stop spreading SHARING false information and spreading negativity. Yes, the Philippines is still a long way to go but it also has gone a long way forward. Real lasting change takes time and planning. Poe and Duterte both admitted in separate public statements, that 6 YEARS IS NOT ENOUGH for the benefits of a growing economy to trickle down to the poorest of the poor. (Why this is so, I suggest you research this yourself if you don’t know or believe this statement.) Give credit where credit is due. Even Duterte, for once, told the truth and said that “the economy is doing very well under the Aquino Gov’t and if it ain’t broke, why fix it.”

    1. Stop spreading SHARING false information and spreading negativity

Are you imposing censorship? It is our right to point out obvious flaws in the yellow gov’t.

Give credit where credit is due

BS Aquino’s economics policies were borrowed mostly from GMA and instead of “giving credit where is due,” they took it as theirs. They still keep insisting that it’s a yellow program when in reality it wasn’t theirs to begin with.

    1. Juan De La Cruz,

“NAKAKABWISIT ANG SIRAAN NG MGA PILIPINO.”

You should be used to it. It’s the nature of our people that goes all the way back to our tribal ancestors, who will kill each other for a coconut.

      Aeta

  81. I don’t agree your analysis. In fact Marcos was the worst President I knew and Indeed, one of the most corrupt president in the world. I think you should read and reread the History of Philippine Politics especially prior and after the 1986 Edsa Revolution, the reason why Marcos removed from the office was because of his bad leadership He thought of himself that he owned every mind of Filipinos, greedy of power too. Don’t deceive the young minds and don’t cover up the wrongdoings of Marcos, so shame and disgusting. Aquino Administration is admirable one, integrity and honesty valued much.

    1. neel,

Fuck the contents of your “History of Philippine Politics” books, that were heavily influenced and authored by ambitious politicians/activists and businessmen who were supposedly “heroes” behind the EDSA Revolution. If you look at these so-called “heroes,” they are the same “motherfuckers” raping the country today. Do the names Aquino, Cojuangco, Enrile, Ramos, Erap, GMA, Ayala-Zobel, Lopez, and a slew of other minor political and business leaders–that have destroyed the fabric of life in the country–ring a bell in your head?

These are the same assholes that have made it possible for Fliptards to leave their families behind, to enslave themselves in other countries as OFWs; to compel those, who can’t afford to leave the country, to commit social injustice against one another to offset the growing cost of living; to compromise the country’s economy, by giving foreign and local “Chekwa” businesses generous accommodations to invest heavily in our country, that subsequently beat out and destroyed our local “cottage” businesses that were once owned by our fellow Fliptards.

You only want to believe those adulterated history books to confirm your delusions that the country is doing much better after 1986. Well, I myself disagree with your fucked up analysis. I get my more accurate analysis from the average Fliptards who lived through Martial Law; they are the ones in better positions to tell what life was like then–and now–than some “fucked up” history books. Almost all of them will say that Marcos, in spite of his numerous allegations as a poor leader, was a much preferred president than all the “assholes” that came after him.

      Aeta

    2. TROLL. 🙂

In fact, Noynoy was the worst President everybody knew and indeed, one of the most corrupt presidents in the world, yet the media never even bother to see that since they’re allies with the Aquinos. And since you’re an actual coward who had no balls like Aquino and never to reply back (in fact, Aquino Administration is not admirable due to nepotism, favoritism, selective justice, blame games and incompetence that was valued very much. Everything you’ve said is a LIE!)

?THREE DECADES since the bloodless revolution.

  82. Your 1986 history is the one that is skewed. The author stated facts which you cannot even debunk and here you are whining.

A lot of filipinos know the truth now about your 1986 EDSA revolution. Do not try to sugarcoat it.

A lot of filipinos also have a different view of the evil dictator now than what you are trying say.

Filipinos are tired of the yellow kool-aid.

  83. anthing written in this site is unreliable source of the truth. opinionated, bias, and worst of all fake person galit sa mundo kaya nagkakalat ng kasinungalingan. andaming tangang naniniwala, mga bobo kasi at nagpa-brainwashed ???????????? heto senyo, article from rappler that the writer is hiding under the pseufo benign0 and that his write-up doesn’t ha any source at all hehehe ???????????? http://www.rappler.com/thought-leaders/135054-pro-marcos-propaganda-too-hip-for-own-good

    1. Yes just let it out. Rant some more if it helps to relieve your stress. BenignO is already aware of this article and sees it as an honor to be “featured” on rappler and as free publicity for GRP.

    2. @judie

Sa dami ng corrupt, walang maayos ng trabaho, OFWs, naghihirap at nagugutom, kelangan mo pa ng source? Talaga?

      Ikaw ang gumising.

Iha, I have lived through martial law and the hardship that the the filipino is going through after 1986 is much mcuh worse than during Marcos time. True, Marcos is not that good or perfect, but he has also done a lot of good things for the filipino.

Ikaw ang gumising at magmulat ng mga mata mo. Stop relying on bias media.

    3. @Judie

I’m sorry, but the writer of the crappler…este rappler article did not specify why GRP is “unreliable source of the truth. opinionated, bias, and worst of all fake person galit sa mundo kaya nagkakalat ng kasinungalingan”.

He already got it wrong in the title of his article. We’re not pro-Marcos. 😉

We would appreciate if he can point us the article/s that brought him to that conclusion. Until then, we will continue to write the way we do. 🙂

      Ta-ta!

  84. Aquino and his Government fooled almost all Filipinos by using Propagandas in Media and Church against Marcos Government. Marcos is a Genius, Treasure Hunter, War Veteran and built almost all national roads in the Philippines with buildings that promotes improvements in our Country. Unlike Aquino’s Government who is just thinking about fooling people and helping people a little just to make them vote in Elections. Try Reading Aquino’s Family Tree and History and you will notice that they are Allied with Japanese in the time of WW2 and after the WW2 allied with Communist to destroy Marcos Government. And that is what happened now. China becomes powerful and Philippines economy becomes almost China at start.

  85. Philippines was controlled with a Genius that want more power to improve the Philippines more and help Country people to rise with almost the same economy with the USA at its time. Marcos gone Wrong about somethings but if we are under USA now, Compare our Country now with Hawaii and Japan which is one of the most powerful nation in the World. Right now with Aquino’s Administration, Too much corruption due to what they called “Freedom” from a Dictator but what happened to our economy now… Still on Progress but before Election Times they are Making Projects like Roads to make people Vote them and also Vote Buying Ignorant Filipinos. God Knows what’s True but the world is so unfair nowadays. It will Change but the question is when? Probably in the worst time of the History…

  86. Im a OFW but Im raised to Help my Family with a little time to enjoy with them. Due to our Government I work abroad far away to help my Family not to go Abroad to tour and enjoy traveling with them. If only our Government is doing their best for Filipino People and Improved our economy. Filipinos will stay in the Philippines and it will improve our Economy. Too many Competent People go abroad to gain Money and encounter too many challenges and sacrifices in Life. Then look at our Government which is living its economy status to almost OFWs and the Government is too happy about whats happening and thanking OFWs for the Hardwork for the Philippines. So it means that they are just not doing enough and relying to OFWs to improve Philippines economy. Are they working enough or just receiving their wages while sitting on their Offices. If your not Corrupt this won’t affect you but if you are, you need Mental examination so that you will know whats Yes or no and Good or Bad.

    1. I hear you ‘kabayan’.. I feel your pain. I, too, spent some years in the sands of Jubail, Yanbu and Shoiba. But, honestly, I did not go there with the conscious intent of augmenting the dollar reserves of the Philippines; rather, I went to improve my families ‘quality of life’ back home. Odd.. because family should have included me, and I wasn’t there with them all that time. (But that’s beside the point.) So, I’m not so sure that you are any different.. that you went there..where ever that is..with the primary purpose of helping the country’s fiscal position.. even as we both, indeed, have.
Today, thinking back on those times, I would say that, had I dwelt on how my small contribution might be spent, I could not have been a ‘hundred per cent’ in my job. So, my ‘two cents worth’ to you is.. just soldier on and be good at what you do. You’ll be the better for it. All the best to you ‘kabayan’.
      Sent from my iPad

  87. Oh please people stop! All you do is complain! He’s the the worst president, everything got worst! Blah! Blah! Blah! First of all you voted for him to be the President so now you blaming him for the worst of traffic and everything else! Oh please! If you all want change, it all start to you. Disiplina lang kailangan jan! Yang traffic sa Edsa di talga mawawala yan kasi mga driver walang disiplina tapos ano put the blame to President. Lahat ng maling makikita isisisi lahat sa kanya? Yan mga mahihirap sa ating mga pinoy ang hilig mamuna ng mga mali ng iba eh, bakit perpekto ka ba?
Binoto nio sya para maging presidente so kung di nio nagustuhan pamumuno nia eh blame yourself also kasi binoto nio eh! Kung sasabihin mo man tanga ung Presidente eh di mas tanga at bobo ka eh yan binoto mo at sinupurtuhan mo dati eh!
So ngayon the new elected President pag may ayaw na naman kayo sasabihin nio He’s a bad President again?

“Dumb politicians is not to blame but the dumb voters who keep voting for them”

    1. First of all you voted for him to be the President so now you blaming him…

What makes you say “we” voted for him? There were only 15 million voters who voted for him. He’s not even a majority president. Besides, even those who voted for him can still complain because they were betrayed. He didn’t fulfil his promises.

    2. FYI son, I never voted for Noynoy last election. It was Gibo Teodoro. Why complain if we’re just pointing out how an incompetent schmuck he is. Go figure.

    1. Nice red herring, son. If I were you, it’s better that you should look on both sides of the story. Unfortunately, you’re missing the point so it;s laughable.

    2. Lies. As if you try to say that everything is better after 1986. Unfortunately, you’re choking on your own tears. Go figure.

    3. Unfortunately for you, that still doesn’t work in countering our arguments against your dated spiel and propaganda.

Its also unfortunate for you since noytards are no longer relevant now that duterte is president.

    4. Samantalang iyang bobo mong panggulo ay puro sisi lang sa nakaraang admin ang kaya lang nyang gawin habang maraming Pilipino ang gutom at kumakain ng pagpag. Kababae mong tao isip bata naman.

  88. it’s not the dumb voters, it’s the dumb cheaters since the time of marcos and the system is passed on and on. the comelec was a great puppet manipulating the results… wake up!

    1. Dumb cheaters? We still have those.

Leni Robredo is one of them.
The thing is, that there is actual evidence to that claim unlike your unproven claim that Marcos cheated (He actually won over Cory even after doing a manual recount, something that for some reason, Robredo is afraid of doing)

Face it, your days of being relevant has ended with your ex president’s stepping down.

If I were you, I’d start looking for a way to defend him for his crimes committed during his failed regime because he is doomed to be jailed.

    2. Again, lies. After 1986 and thanks to the 1987 Constitution, the people became dumber and because they’re dumb, they’re also voting dumb leaders. And speaking of the COMELEC, does that mean you fully admit that Leni Robredo won the vice-presidency through cheating?

I think that you should wake up. Because you’re fixation on Marcos makes you an idiot. Deal with it. Of course, you won’t admit since you’re a paid Yellow hack.

    3. If someone should wake up, it’s none other than real-life whores like yourself due to your incessant whining and blame games but in reality, you love to see your fellow kababayans suffer. You’re the ones who keep on killing the Failippines.
