Does being photographed in a private jet make Jolo Estrada a bad person?

Wow, so another child-of-notorious-person has emerged as the Achilles Heel of said notorious person. I’m talking about Jolo Estrada, son of Senator Jinggoy Estrada who is now in prison for his (alleged) involvement in the pork barrel scam. First it was Jeane Lim Napoles whose blog gained instant fame (or infamy) when people had that Eureka! moment of linking the glam lifestyle she posts in living color with her mom’s “real job” in the Philippines. Now it’s Jolo who got his Instagram photos screencapped before he could blink out his account from public eyes.

Is this a private jet??

Is this a private jet??

What a nightmare for poor Jolo. He’s now the most recent kid suffering because of his parents’ sins. Then again, he did enjoy the glam life because of his father’s sins. Oh, sorry, alleged sins. My bad! You really have to be careful. Innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz…

On second look, actually, I did notice that those casino chips he was holding in one of the photos are actually just P500 chips. Yeah, as in Philippine pesos. I count ten of those chips in his hands, so that’s P5,000 in all. The caption on the photo reveals that this stash represents his winnings for the night (he’s definitely no high roller and does admit that he “don’t do this often”). And Jolo goes further to announce what he plans to spend it on: “Free drinks for me tonight!”

That really doesn’t come across as very ostentatious to me. P5,000 winnings to be spent on drinks. I just hope it’s drinks among friends not just on his own though! And if we look closely at the photos of his Manila Hotel room “for the weekend”, I’m thinking, So What? It’s not like other ordinary (well, upper middle class) folks check into the Manila Hotel every now and then for a much-deserved and rare splurge. For all we know that’s all it was. And the LV shoes? Come now. I see a lot of ladies who are mukhang ale sporting LV handbags while riding da tren to Calamba. Nothing special about that either.

What is quite an eye-opener though, in my opinion, is that snap of Jolo and a pal in what appears to be a private jet. Is it a private jet nga ba? And were they actually flying in it, or just posing in it the way many of us pose for a selfie in front of a shiny Porsche or Ferrari parked on a street corner we happen to be walking by? That interior might even be just the interior of a well-outfitted boat or luxury van or something.

Maybe we should give Jolo the benefit of the daw. We can only rely now on this shady website “BV-Patrol.com” which claims that these photos are Jolo’s, daw. In fairness, however, you gotta ask why Jolo’s Instagram account has since gone dark. Something to hide, perhaps?

Well, he’s a 17 year old kid, daw. So, c’mon folks, what’s a 17 y.o. to do when your dad is a Philippine Senator? All the other politicians’ sons and daughters (and most of us know and are friends with at least one or two of them) may as well shut down their social media accounts as well if this is gonna be the way things are from now on.

Lucky for us, “Selfie” was not even a word yet during the time my friends and I would be galivanting around town as teenagers on the weekends. One of my friends happened to be the daughter of a politician. Gives me the shivers thinking of how this could happen to someone I personally know. I mean it’s not as if Jinggoy is any different from any other Senator. Unless I’m missing something, most if not all Senators are rich, after all, and their kids pretty much all live a nice life. Just because they might own nice clothes does not necessarily make them bad people.

  1. “Alleged sins…”

If Jinggoy Estrada can spend 40 MILLION PESOS for his birthday celebration on a monthly salary of one hundred thousand Pesos, you’ll have to admit that even the very rich elites in the Philippines will find that ostentatious display of profligate spending somewhat disconcerting. Even if he earns up to five million a month, as Sen. Miriam Santiago contends, throwing away two-thirds of his annual income on ONE party is enough to make even his relatives cringe (which it did). And then indulging his children’s caprices and flaunting it on Instagram — what can be expected other than indignation and public outrage?

    1. Silly blogpost. And who is that kate natividad? I wonder why getreal allowed this to get posted. Do you expect the public to react otherwise after all the plunder raps and incarcerations that marred the Estrada? I would have given the kid the benefit of the doubt if he’s a Zobel or a Coyuito.

  2. “Who knows himself a braggart, let him fear this, for it will come to pass that every braggart shall be found an ass.”
    ― William Shakespeare

  3. If your father is a public servant then you should set an example of how to live a simple life. If your father is guilty with Plunder and people saw you with a posh lifestyle, then yes, it’s bad that we see you in pictures having the time of your life because we know where your luxuries come from – from the time and sweat of the Filipino workers.

  4. LV shoes: You wouldn’t brag on Instagram about fake LV shoes right after you’ve bragged about PRIVATE JETS, CASINO GAMBLING, and PRESIDENTIAL SUITES. These activities are suited only for millionaires (think Donald Trump and Lady Gaga). If anything, they just cast more proof that his dad is guilty. My parents earn around that much (100k salary), and I can’t even afford those shoes.

Is Jolo a bad person? I wouldn’t know. We don’t know him personally. Are his instagram posts good? NO. Millions of Filipinos are starving everyday, your dad is a Philippine senator, and you post about sipping champagne in a bathtub in a 5 star hotel. How many families could be fed with the cost of that presidential suite? The posts are nothing but insensitive, and shows how much “values” his parents have taught him.

    1. 100k is senator basic but allowances and other benifits, it will reach more than 1M as said by miriam. Manila hotel suite could be complementary.

  5. While I personally do not think Jolo is a bad person (since I do not know him personally and therefore cannot judge his character), I do think his instagram posts only became hot just because his father is in the hot seat.

I mean, looking back and correct me if I’m wrong, the only time Jeane Napoles was in the hot seat was because her mother was the popular topic of the time wasn’t it? When Jinggoy wasn’t directly involved, very few knew who Jolo was and his lavish lifestyle photos on Instagram, and there was no public outrage for it either.

In my opinion his posts were in the wrong place and in the wrong time. Next thing you’ll see Enrile and Revilla family kids’ instagram accounts being monitored and publicly denounced for “rich kid activity”, which the children of those who aren’t implicated (yet) remained under the radar.

    1. @Maya: I think you’ve come the closest among those who have commented so far to affirming the point I was trying to make. Wrong place, wrong time. All the other politicians’ kids have similar lifestyles. But they just happen to be under the radar — for now.

      1. I think you’re a bit off on that one Kate. There’s always been indignation. There’s always been outrage at the profligacy flaunted by our political elite. The fact that the Estradas are currently in the cross hairs just means that this general feeling of resentment the majority has towards the country’s elite has found some concrete ‘thing’ — a target — to focus on. Unfortunately for Jinggoy Estrada and family, they’ll be bearing the brunt of the people’s anger for as long as this matter holds the public’s attention.

    2. Maya, you state that you don’t know him personally. Well, then you also can’t state that he is not a bad person. Just say you can’t judge him at all.

I however can judge him. The apple does not fall far from the tree and I have hardly ever seen any children that grow up with wealth and corrupted power turning out not to be major assholes. It’s inherited in the genes. The Trump children shooting elephants in Africa is just one of those examples. If that kid would not be a fuck head, he would not be such a braggart. That alone speaks volumes. Age is no excuse. He obviously lacks the proper grooming and upbringing.

I would not piss in his mouth if his teeth were on fire.

Witness the next generation of politicians.

    1. And the shitposter named danny carino sounds like he’s a Yellow Propaganda, so how much did it cost them real-life FRAUD? 😛

  6. LV shoes? C’mon, that looks so tacky. How nouveau riche. I really feel sick with these “fashion-forward” types. I’ll stick with Sperrys, thank you very much.

  7. Let’s see . Dad and Lolo spent time in what passes for jail when that kid was about five. People already made a big deal of Janet’s girl and he still has no decorum. That makes him family I guess. Which reminds me of a fourteen year old email I had that is quite appropriate. It is good it is still there since I could not find it in Google.

3,000 Ejercitos meet in Erap’s residence in Greenhills for a “Ejercitos Are Not Stupid” Convention. President Erap says, “We are all here today to prove to the world that the clan of Ejercitos are not stupid. Can I have a volunteer?” Jinggoy gingerly works his way through the crowd and steps up to the stage. Erap asks him, “What is 15 plus 15?” After 15 or 20 seconds Jinggoy says, “Eighteen!! Obviously everyone is a little disappointed. Then 3,000 Ejercitos start cheering, “Give him another chance! Give him another chance!” Erap says, “Well since we’ve gone to the trouble of getting 3,000 of you in one place and we have the world-wide press and global broadcast media here, gee, uh, I guess we can give him another chance.” So he asks, “What is 5 plus 5?” After nearly 30 seconds Jinggoy eventually says, “Ninety?” Erap is quite perplexed, looks down and just lets out a dejected sigh-everyone is disheartened – Jinggoy starts crying and the 3,000 Ejercitos begin to yell and wave their hands shouting, “GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE! GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE!” Erap , unsure whether or not he is doing more harm than damage, eventually says, “Ok! Ok! Just one more chance– What is 2 plus 2?”
Jinggoy closes his eyes, and after a whole minute eventually says, “Four?”. Throughout the stadium pandemonium breaks out as all 3,000 Ejercitos jump to their feet, wave their arms, stomp their feet and scream…
“GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE! GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE!”

  8. Does not matter if this lavish lifestyle is financed through legal means or stolen pork funds (probably stolen though) public servants must be examples of humility and simplicity. Totally unethical. His posts insults all the hungry people in this country.

  9. Poor Jolo. What a nightmare, being judged for enjoying the good life while his father tries to weasle his way out of jail. Meanwhile, the masses toil on and grudgingly pay their taxes, trying to make ends meet, looking for insensitive braggarts to blame. Be brave and keep posting, Jolo. May many others like you post even more examples of how fun life can be for the children of plunderers. It’s okay to keep enjoying life and be proud about it. Flaunt what you have. One day the proletariat may snap, and blessed be the day that the tides are turned upon the whole lot of you.

    1. Jinggoy and his family treats the Philippines like they are truly ignorant pathetic morons. Thing is judging by the media and the audience of the media, they are right.

  10. I really wonder what Josh Aquino’s instagram/twitter accounts would look like if he wasnt mentally challenged.
Then again we can all look forward to the time when Bimby’s in that age…
