Malacañang continues to fail in ‘social media’ spin

According to a GMA Network news “report”, many of the almost 14,000 members on the Facebook group “We Support Chief Justice Corona and the Rule of Law” were “added” to the site against their will or without their knowledge. This, the news report seems to be aiming to imply, is reason to conclude that there are really not as many supporters of the the Chief Justice as is being purported by those who support him. Indeed, the report does make the bold claim…

The effort at inflating the number of Corona “supporters” on Facebook signifies an uphill struggle in using social media to turn the tide of public opinion. So far, sentiments on Facebook and Twitter have been overwhelmingly against Corona.

But being pulled into a Facebook group is a common practice — something that can be easily rectified by unsubscribing one’s self. But that no-dramas option does not stop some self-important drama-queens from huffing and puffing and making a big hoo-ha about having their Facebook accounts violated by such outrageous practices…

After Harvey Keh read an earlier version of this report, he commented twice under the article:

For the record, I have NEVER and will NEVER sign up to join this Facebook Group: “We Support Chief Justice Corona and the Rule of Law”.

Ang kapal naman talaga ng mukha ng mga supporters ni Corona to even add my name in their Facebook group! I do not support, have never supported and will never support Chief Justice Renato Corona. I hope they can stop resorting to dirty tactics such as these as well as propagating lies to the general public. Mahiya naman kayo!

Oh the humanity!

We will, however, recall an even bigger outrage perpetrated by the Yellow Forces of the Aquino-Cojuangco feudal clan back when the smoke from the infamy of the 2010 presidential elections was just clearing when the privately-owned Facebook.com/Noynoy.Aquino page (owned by Califorinia-based Ben Totanes and Betty Abrantes, but now defunct) that at the time claimed 1.5 million “fans” (now known as “likes”) was seemingly hijacked by Malacañang. The page was allegedly shut down by Facebook admins (some say under pressure from the Philippine Government) and its subscribers apparently re-subscribed into the now “official” Noynoy Facebook page at Facebook.com/PresidentNoy

According to AllFacebook.com, the number of “likes” on the fan page of the new PresidentNoy Facebook page suddenly jumped in number from about 100,000 as of the 8th of November to almost 1.6 million as of the 11th of November [2010].

The PresidentNoy Facebook page now boasts about 2.2 million “likes” which, suffice to say does not necessarily mean that the President has that number of supporters on Facebook. Unlike Noynoyist netizens, online activists critical of the President are not ones to shy away from heated debate. As such, many of them subscribe to pro-Aquino forums and online communities in order to directly engage in healthy discussion with their pro-Noynoy counterparts. Indeed, it is well known in the online political community that admins of the PresidentNoy Facebook page have had to disable commenting on the site in many instances when comments critical of the president being posted there got “out of hand”.

The Communications team of Malacañang have an extensive track record of failing to really get what modern “social media” is all about. This latest fail in spin is just the most recent evidence of that consistent cluelessness.

  1. Isa na naman itong kalokohan ni Corona, kung mpapansin, iniimbita ng mga bayaran ni Corona na sumali ang user sa group imbes na kusang sumali ito. DESPERADO n tlga, dpat magresiGn na si CoroNa.

    1. Mas desperado si Vincenzo because of spouting Yellow propaganda, rhetorics and tsismis. Kawawa ang mga utak-squatter; in reality, they are the ones who are in DESPERATION because they use hearsays or ‘tsismis’ to support their claims.

That’s and old troll logic, kid. Try something new because the more you post here, the more how DESPERATELY STUPID you are.

      1. And those with the squatter mentality eventually fall so behind their betters… frankly speaking, they have only themselves to blame when they see the world around them evolve while they remain in their sorry rut.

      2. Who told u im dEsPerate? Im coNfidEnt that thieF justice Corona will be impeAcheD then coNvicteD. Kta naman sa recent pulso ng bAyan,

        1. @vincenzo

As usual, you overlooked the FACT that UNTIL NOW, your prosecutors have proven NOTHING AT ALL. Only dumb uncle-f**kers like you will insist that corona will be convicted even though the evidence is OVERWHELMINGLY WEAK

You are really DESPERATE you stupid fool.

        4. and to further prove my point, kit tatad posted about the sws and pulse asia surveys.
          http://kittatad.wordpress.com/2010/04/17/a-take-on-sws-and-pulse-asia-surveys/
he explains that the internationally accepted formula in sampling in any given population by n=N/(1+Ne^2) where n=sample size, N=population size, and e=margin of error (lagay na natin sa 0.05 or 5%)

sa example ni mr. tatad, sa ginawang survey ng sws nung elections, and i qoute from his site:
onsidering that both survey groups usually set the margin of error at plus or minus 2 percent (or 0.02), here’re what Slovin’s formula says about the SWS and Pulse Asia sample sizes (anybody with a considerable aptitude in algebra may verify these):

          * SWS’s survey over 2,100 respondents, with margin of error set at 0.02, assumes a population composed of only 13,125 individuals. In the context of election-related surveys, that would point to the survey results being possibly representative of a population of 13,125 registered voters nationwide.
          * Pulse Asia’s survey over 1,800 respondents, with margin of error set at 0.02, assumes a population composed of only 6,429 individuals. In the context of election-related surveys, that would indicate that the survey results may be representative of a population of 6,429 registered voters nationwide.

and there you go. you can’t simply base a survey on 1200 respondents to represent the voice of the country.

    2. Kung inimbita sila and ayaw naman pala nila, bat di sila nag quit?

You can always opt to quit. Tsk tsk. Flawed statement much?

Hay! Noynoying ka nanaman e!Di pa ba obvious? Gawa-gawa lang ang issues raised against CJ! From 45 properties, ilan n lang ulit? di bawal mag-isip!

        1. OMG! he admits may kasalanan. while si diaz di nya maadmit na sya may kasalanan. bravo! nakita mo yun ha? is there a way here to search on the posts of a user? i think i saw this vincenzo say na hindi importante ang testimony ni diaz, or something of that sort. i might be wrong though. it’s a rare sight to see yellow people admit na mali ang kapwa nila. 🙂

        1. come again? teknik kamo? LOL. ayos sa teknik. buti di nag file ng mistrial ang defense dahil mali naman ang ebidensyang prinisenta in the first place. hindi makakuha ng kopya? ano yung binigay ni diaz? blindfolded aim at a dart board? may kopya na sila, di lang nila binusisi dahil “mas marami, mas mabuti” ang teknik ng prosecution mo. at tax sa US? so sa tingin mo di sila nagbabayad ng tax sa US? san mo ba talaga gusto husgahan si corona? dito sa pinas or dun sa US? at mabuti pang ikaw na magsabi sa US na silipin ang pagbabayad nila sa tax. tutal, ikaw naman nakaisip e.

Just sh0ws that hnd m mtnggap ang hubAd na ktotohanan.

        1. Because the people are easily manipulated thru the Cory magic and hype. She was busy paying her media friends to make things look good in her term. Not just ABS-CBN but also Inquirer and SWS. Need I say more?

It just shows na hindi mo matanggap ang hubad na katotohanan na… UTO-UTO ka. Fact is hindi mo matanggap na yours is a SELECTIVE ‘truth’.

    5. Idiot! There are million of us supporting the Chief Justice. But unlike yellow people like you, we tend to remain silent.

Just wait and see once the Impeachment Court fails to deliver a fair and reasonable decision.

        1. Baka millions of pesos to be given away by Noynoy supporters? Remember how your idiot President used his pork barrel to bribe the Congress?

    6. Desperado lang talaga ang grupong ito. Could you imagine adding Marites Vitug, Argee Guevarra, some senators and many other prominent personalties publicly opposed to Corona to their FB group? Very clearly to bloat their numbers and add some semblance of credibility to an otherwise… (you add).

Common courtesy dictates that you inform the person you wish to add to your group. Hindi kailangan ang kung anu-anong terms and conditions on FB use to know and do that.

      1. Could you tell us who add their names without their permission?

What if I include my name in the list and then claim somebody did it without my permission?

        Can you tell the difference?

      2. brad, katukayo, hindi ako masyadong magaling sa fb. pero nagtanong ako sa kaibigan ko na marunong sa fb. ang page ay nililike ng bumibisita. hindi pede yung page na magpalike sa visitors, nasa user na yun. unless, ur telling us, hinack ang account ng 14000 people in fb. tulad na lang sa pagcomment sa youtube, or yahoo, kailangan yung user ang mag click ng thumbs up or down.

as i see it, yellow zombies clicked on like, then complained saying na hindi sila nagclick, etc etc.

    7. anong gagawin mo vincenzo pag na acquit si Corona?..magpapakamatay?..or sasabihin mo na naman na nagawan ng paraan ng mga galamay ni corona?…baka masiraan ng ulo boss mo..kaya as early as now nag oorganize na ang grupo nya ng noytards ng mga rallies na for sure lalangawin na naman

  2. BenignO

But why would PNoy supporters, the Liberal Party members in particular, be worried about the “popularity” or “unpopularity” of their idol? The incumbent “elected president” serves only ONE six-year term with NO re-election, and PNoy is now on his second year in office.

It should be Roxas’ popularity that they should be concerned about; he’s supposed to be next in line, as agreed upon. Perhaps, these guys have sinister plans brewing that we can only surmise. And the only possible scheme may be along the line of a “legal” or “constitutional” (even “extra-constitutional”) extension of the incumbent’s term.

    1. Its either Roxas or Revilla for 2016. Bongbong has nO chance becAuse he inheriteD his thieF mind froM his father.

      1. All the more reason for Ferdinand Junior to prove himself capable of stepping out from the Senior’s shadow–and with the nature of our media outlets, Papa Marcos’ ominous specter to boot.

Besides, must the son suffer for the sins of his father?

    2. Perhaps Noynoy’s popularity is important now (despite not having to be concerned about reelection) because he is in the process of impeaching Corona – an initiative that requires popular support. The only long-term trans-term agenda at stake here is the fate of Hacienda Luisita.

      1. So that being said the question one must ask is can he sustain? If one where to overlook his neglect of state affairs due to over-concentrating on prosecuting the CJ, some people will ask on what kind of ethics they have shown in the whole impeachment process.

      1. There is no bigger hypocrite than those who are filthy vindictive, love to judge others, and those who prefer ANARCHY in order to seek justice.

And even the president himself is being one.

  3. This is really an idiocy in its highest order. As if my favorite commenter is the one manipulating this one. So stupid.

How one will know that they pretended to support Corona and then claimed that they did not know it? This is the same as their claim that somebody, without their knowledge, did it. Who can tell the difference?

Why is GMA7 is very quick to the draw that there is an anomaly on this issue? Did they perform an independent investigation? Take note the bylines are MARLON ANTHONY R. TONSON and KIMBERLY TAN. Their names might come handy in the future for who they are.

Compare that one on how Penoy’s FB likes jumped from a merely 100,000 to 1.6 million. It can be explained and can be backtracked.

This Harvey Keh according to him:

“For the record, I have NEVER and will NEVER sign up to join this Facebook Group: “We Support Chief Justice Corona and the Rule of Law”.

Mahiya naman kayo!”

Can you explain how they have hacked to your FB account? Are these Corona supporters really that good? If you’re just making a claim without supporting it, in my book, you’re an idiot.

If they’re really that good, in my book, they’re stupid. They should have aimed higher.

And this Harvey Key feels he’s that significant.

    Pwe!

    1. Tito Noy is a popular and great president because of his anticorruptioN drive. Mrmi tlga ang ngmamahal sa ating pangulo, look at Glorias page wla p yata sa 1k, magnanakaw ksi

      1. This Vincenzo, he’s really a fun to have around. Please handle your counter-comment with care. He is the embodiment of the best of Penoy’s lap dog. Not lapdog. Lap dog.

Second only to my favorite commenter in this blog.

We can’t afford to lose Vincenzo.

        Parallax take note!

        1. @trosp: i don’t bother much with vincenzo. speaking to him is like spraying lacoste cologne onto a wet piece of dung – if you step on it, it still reeks!

      2. Idiot!

In fact, he is the one who cast the first stone. It shows his immaturity and temper tantrums. Just like you do. 😛

  4. There is an existing YellowTard Computer Hackers group. Hired by Noynoy Aquino and the Cojuangcos. They send your computer: Malware Installers, Malwares, Viruses, Trojan Horses, Tracking Cookies, etc…They try to control your computer, when you are writing a comment on the FaceBook or Websites, not friendly to the Aquino Regime. The Hacienda Luisita Videos, in the You Tube, are the best proof for this…it is full of viruses,if you download them…you’ll get a lot of viruses, on your computer…This GetRealPhilippines Website itself, is being redirected by YellowTard Hackers, when you log in to it…

    1. I made a comment against Ab-Noynoy at PDI and I misteriously got an unknown message on my FB Account hurling vindictives on me saying that Corona owns the US properties. And now, they are messaging to FB people posting messages at “I support Corona” page the same way that they taunt Anti-Abnoynoy bloggers. Obsviously, these people are paid hackers and bloggers that’s why they move and blog systematically with obvious supervision.

    2. AnOther hearSay. I also get viruses froM a Tj coroNA page And it reDirects me to a pictUre of cristina coroNa crying.

      1. Yes vincenzo, show us some proof oh wait… As usual, you are spouting your shitty yellow propaganda again. Only

    1. My oras pa. Alm nman ntn na multimilyoN ang mga pagaAri ni CoroNa na galing sa nakaw sa Amerika at gngmit nya lang ang anak nya dito.

      1. Baka alam MO? Fact is PNoy and his supporters use ‘tsismis’ to support their claims.

Imbes na makipagtsismisan, I’ll just let the trial continue.

        1. and now tax evader naman sila sa america, san mo naman nakuha yang basis mo? may preba ka ba? or heresay nanaman yan? or theory mo lang yan? share mo naman.

        1. cge, go cast the first stone, be a good citizen to the US and tell the irs about corona’s “tax evasion”. if you even have proof.

  5. Let the Numbers Speak.

As of 11:30 a.m., April 4, about 19 hours from the time of posting, the article registered the following numbers:

    1. Only 54 comments

    2. Only 22 commentors made the 54 comments (i.e., some individuals made multiple comments)

    — Leading the pack of commentors with multiple comments is: Vincenzo B. Arellano (11 comments)
    — Others with multiple comments are: Daido Katsumi (8 comments); Aegis Judex (6 comments);Trosp (5 comments), Nelson Ongpauco (3 comments), Jose Maria Espiritu (3 comments). James,FallenAngel and Parallax made 2 comments each.
–The rest, made 1 comment each: Ahehe, Anonymous, Felipe, Jasin Natael, Charlie Tan, Bhabes Ortiz, Domingo Arong, BenignO, BenK, Hyden Toro, Arkangel, Odin

One wonders, where are the supposedly 14,000 fans of the Facebook page “We Support Chief Justice Corona and the Rule of Law”? One would expect that at least 1% of these 14,000 fans (140 individuals) would comment on this article — not only to show some support for the writer and but more importantly to confirm that there are indeed 14,000 “FB Corona fans”

Either the article wasn’t interesting enough to generate the expected numbers or the blogsite itself is heading towards a “natural death”.

    Another one bites the dust?

        1. This is an IDIOCRACY, not true democracy. Ang pulso ng bayan ay kayang manipulahin. Bobo ka lang. 😛

    1. Ei, JM.

Raissa Robles’ posts never reach 1M comments each. Makes me wonder if Noynoy really had 15M supporters last election.

      1. Its becAuse wla silang time maginternet, hnd nga ntn alam kung mrun0ng maginternet ang lahat ng 15M na bum0to ky Tito Noy

        1. 15 million of them have access to the internet. But they gave in to their idiocy rather than they think.

          Bobo ka lang. 😛

    2. Just look at what PNoy supporters preoccupy themselves with…tsk tsk. This is the height of monorism.

Well for your info, ever since Facebook groups became the “in” thing among Pinoys, most of the discussions have moved away from blogsites and into such networkings sites. It does not really matter to us writers because we are also members of such groups and we can join the discussions there. Why don’t you join the Facebook page “We Support Chief Justice Corona and the Rule of Law” so you can monitor how many people participate in the discussions? That will give you something to do for the rest of the day.

      1. @Ilda

Why get annoyed with me? I was just making an objective reading of GRP’s performance ‘numbers’ — ‘numbers’ reflecting a general trend among Pinoy blogsites –i.e., heading towards extinction. You said so yourself, “… ever since Facebook groups became the “in” thing among Pinoys, most of the discussions have moved away from blogsites and into such networkings sites.”

But, then again, there is the phenomenon of the – Raissa Robles blogsite. Is this an exception to the rule (i.e., trend) or are we just both reading the trend incorrectly?

        1. @jm there’s no point in arguing about stats. 🙂 honestly, i don’t see your point in discussing this in first place. if people comment less on this site than others, then so be it. the article wasn’t aimed to have more people comment or like this site anyway. i wonder how you stumbled upon this article, and care to even make stats.

        2. @Jose

That is how shallow some Filipinos are. They focus on the wrong things. Unfortunately, even if you try to explain something simple to them, they still manage to miss the point. It’s part of the reason why the country remains one of Asia’s basketcase.

        3. @JM

What makes you think I am annoyed? It is disappointing to see Filipinos like you demonstrate their ignorance. It’s a bit pathetic of you to be focussing on trivial stuff. It reflects on the society as a whole considering there are more people like you around. You should be sharing your ideas instead of “tsimis”. But I guess you have none of your own.

See, you still did not get my simple explanation. Facebook may be getting a big share of traffic through its facility because it is convenient for people to stay there after logging on but it doesn’t affect the existence of blogsites like GRP. We share our articles on Facebook and it does generate discussions on various group page. This has been going on for a few years now. Where you got the idea that the existence of such will affect this blogsite is beyond me. Facebook and other social networking sites even help promote this site.

The fact that you feel threatened by our existence, and this is evident in your lame attempt to put this site down, means that we are making a difference.

Tough luck! You are only good at bullying just like your idol, Raissa Robles. 🙂

        4. Jim,
People pissed at penoy admin will never comment on their FB because most of them are govt employees—and there’s THREE MILLION of them! RANDOMLY select and ask ordinary govt employees from each agency and they are looking forward to fast-track this nightmare. Ask our civil servants from DAR, DoT and DOTC, DECS, DTI, DOST, DOLE,DBM and even civil servants in Malacanang! Naturally, they are forbidden to post any anti-pnoy. comments/insinuations because Sen. Joker Arroyo was right. We may have a creeping dictatorship!

Thing is, most of them actually like the Pnoy! Honesty and fiscal prudence have been restored in govt. But the slow management style, indecisions, obsession with Corona and general arrogance of the yellow people surrounding the president that are really turning them off. Sayang!

    3. I don’t support the CJ personally but the rule of law which the Yellow cabal has been so blatantly breaking left and right. To heck with surveys the so-called “people’s pulse”, just because the majority says so doesn’t mean they are right after all a lot of Germans thought that Hitler was the best thing to happen to their nation and we all know how that story ended.

    4. I remember I’ve commented in this blog that I’ve noticed that the main issue is not Corona per se but the issue of rule of law. I would say we can’t correlate the 14,000 fans of the Facebook page “We Support Chief Justice Corona and the Rule of Law” with the number of commenters here who are pro rule of law.

IMO, it does not make any sense.

One thing that is worth asking: how many here have been surveyed by SWS, Pulse Asia, Ibon, etc.?

A lot of level headed people are asking if these survey firms are really making a survey.

Me? I even haven’t see anybody being surveyed by any of them and I always roam around the metropolis. Or even heard any of my friends, relatives, neighbors telling a story about somebody they know being surveyed.

Another one is how many people visit this post as compared to the number of commenters?

Possibly, the number of commenters here in this post will not even reached 1 % of the numbers of people who have visited this post.

Will my two questions make sense?

  6. As an “outsider” looking in, I can’t help but get the impression that the Philippines is ruled by a popularity contest instead of the rule of law. The rule of law only apply when it suits the “filipinos”.

The louder the noise you make, the more “right” you become even if it goes against all logic or morality. It’s like a mob rule through the media. Today it’s this..tomorrow it become that…hay nakku…

For example recently on Yahoo news, there was the arrest of 8 koreans and the commentators was screaming for the blood of koreans in general. Then on another article, there was Jasmin Lee running for office in Korea…filipinos were talking about her making it in Korea.

Didnt anyone stop to think if they thought all koreans were cold heartless people,….why would a pinay renounced her Philippine citizenship and became a korean and choose to serve the korean public by running for office? No wonder I REALLY became clueless.*sigh*

  7. Hey,

By the way guys and gals…this site is doing a great job in presenting both sides of the picture intellectually….not emo. With the right tinkering it WILL become a very popular site among foreigners looking for an objective veiw about the Philippines.

Meron hope still for the Philippines. I grew to love this country as much as my own because I am partially malay and my wife is a filipino. So much similarity between the Philippines and Malaysia although the Philippines prefer to adopt the U.S as a model.

    1. Thanks, Clueless. We don’t really expect a lot of kudos because as you can see for yourself, there are more emotional Filipinos compared to the rational ones. But it is a nice surprise when people appreciate what we do.

  8. @Ilda

Why are you so bitter? Why is there so much hatred in your heart for Raissa Robles? Why can’t you be happy for the phenomenal success of a fellow writer?

Raissa’s blogsite is the most visited in the Philippines with millions of ‘netizens’ who call themselves the ‘Plaza Miranda’ crowd. Her blogs, considered very credible and newsworthy, more often than not, make it to mainstream media: major dailies (Inquirer, Phil. Star, Manila Bulletin) and TV-broadcast networks (ABS-CBN, GMA7 , TV5).

With all the good things going along Raissa’s way and sensing the person that you really are, why am I not surprised to see you very envious of her?

Will be praying for your soul during Lent.

    1. Ilda will forever be bitTer with Raissa.

      2. And you vincenzo bobo arellano, will forever be a f**king moron for continuing
to post illogical and idiotic posts.

    2. Tingnan mo ang mga ugali ng mga fans ni Raissa. It’s always about them. Why can’t you guys talk about ideas instead of your egos?

I don’t hate Raissa, Mr JM. I don’t know her enough to feel that way about her. I hate what she is doing to our society though. She is turning it into a vindictive one. I feel sorry for her, actually. It seems like she has become addicted to the attention she gets from her “fans” because she keeps publishing unverified reports just to keep them interested.

Notice how we don’t talk about any evidence that hasn’t been accepted in court? That’s our way of respecting the institution and giving the respondent the benefit of the doubt. We don’t claim to know everything.

The only reason you think (yes, it’s just your perception) more people visit her blogsite is because she publishes articles that tend to feed the curiosity of shallow people. Marami talagang tsismosa and she caters to that. Besides, not everyone who visits her site approves of what she does.

The trial has been on for several weeks but not one of the “evidence” she has written about has ever been admitted in court. In fact, she is not even willing to be a witness. This can only mean she doesn’t really know the truth. She’s just stating her opinions and presenting it as “facts”. They are all “hearsays” but you guys keep falling for it.

Bitter? Nope. It’s just really disappointing how she wants to divide the sentiments of the Filipino people just to get validation.

      PS

Thanks for visiting our site btw. 😉

      1. @ilda about his “point/s of argument” yep, i agree with you, none really even how much you try to explain. and jm, it’s nothing personal to robles, it’s what she writes. i dont know her too, but her basis of “journalism” and how she does it, is seeing only 1 part of the coin and exaggerating it.
anyway, again. it’s pointless to talk to jm. for me that is. 🙂

but hey, he adds more comments to this website. shouldn’t he be adjusting his stats? lol

        1. but hey, he adds more comments to this website. shouldn’t he be adjusting his stats? lol

It’s not about the quantity, it’s the quality. JM’s comments are simply not worth the space it is posted on.

        1. I’m a Christian but I never treat the Holy Week as comedy. It’s also a time of reflection for me.

        2. I think they are following a different religion already. Being judgemental is definitely not part of Jesus’ teachings.

        3. @Ilda:

Spot on! When someone said that he/she is for the rule of law then those people will brand you as ‘pro-CoronArroyo’, which is ridiculous. If I realize that I became judgmental, I’ll just say ‘I have sinned against the Lord’ and nothing else.

It’s like they want a modern version of ‘The Reign of Terror’. Sa mga bobo sa history, it was a period of terror made by the tyrant Maximillian Robespierre, where suspected ‘enemies of the Republic’ were executed. It can also happen here if most of our people are vindictive and malicious. What I mean is I will just go to jail just because I was suspected as being ‘corrupt’ without any fair trial: let me guess, Mr. JM’s role model is Robespierre.

PS: Christianity is ALMOST eliminated during that time, believe it or not.

        4. There is nothing wrong with the rule of Law.

There is everything wrong about the Rulers of Law.

        5. @shsss:

Not only the rulers of Law who are everything wrong but every citizen who choose to ignore it. Even the President himself is subject.

          Troll logic you got there.

    3. “Dumb people talk about PEOPLE. Average people talk about EVENTS. Intelligent people talk about IDEAS.” -Eleanor Roosvelt.

But even God Himself will be disappointed on what you’re doing because you refuse to THINK and instead you are doing the opposite.

    4. nadagdagan account ni vicenzo :))…nauubos yata pera ng gobyerno sa pag hire ni Noytard ng mga bloggers at magko comment…btw, me ps vita na ba si boss nyo? :))

  9. @Ilda

Yes, I pray. Being a devout Catholic, I take my praying very seriously. You may practice your faith in a different manner, but that doesn’t give you the right to make fun of my praying. Your snide and sarcastic remarks about my praying are so offensive, so below the belt.

Also, please advice your cohorts to respect the Holy Week. Christ being nailed to the cross until death was His greatest sacrifice to save humanity. It is not “comedy” as one of your friends stated.

    1. I agree. Faith is a personal thing and should never be trivialised when we are trying to have a intellectual discourse. It actually have no bearing on the bigger picture. Regardless of our own individual faith, we should refrain from questioning others about their faith when it comes to a debate.

      1. @Clueless

You are very right when you said, “Faith is a personal thing and should never be trivialised when we are trying to have a intellectual discourse. It actually have no bearing on the bigger picture. Regardless of our own individual faith, we should refrain from questioning others about their faith when it comes to a debate”

LET US JUST STICK TO THE ISSUES.

        1. “LET US JUST STICK TO THE ISSUES.”

—right after you raise that issue about people here mocking your holy week.

And just to flip you off without showing you my hand:
-Raissa Robles is a lying sham
-Pinoy Catholics are after form not substance
          -Pinoys cannot think critically
-Pinoys would sooner worship a hunk of wood or be nailed to a cross than take the time to really read and understand the Bible.

    2. You respect the Holy Week, yet you love to disrespect other people or committing blunders like believing in hearsays as truth. You should be offended because the Lord hates SLANDER.

If you pray with a vindictive and malicious mind, then God is disappointed at what you are doing. You said that we have no right to make fun of your praying while you love to make fun on others by vilifying those who are perceived as ‘evil’ (Corona, Arroyo) or supporting conspiracy theorists like Raissa Robles.

That’s hypocritical. What Ilda said is the truth. We can never move forward as a society if we are always like this. My dad is a pastor but he will treat you like a childish brat since he knows much about politics. True faith comes for those who want to seek the Lord. No compromises. What you did is COMPROMISE.

        1. I’m referring to JM, who is using his religion to justify his wrongdoing. I don’t like that.

    3. Excuse me, but you can’t lecture us on observing Holy Week. You are the visitor of this site, which means you are the one provoking the writers and the regular posters here during Holy Week. If you stopped writing, people would stop responding.

If you look at what you have written so far, none of it has been productive or help promote peace among Filipinos. So if you really took your praying seriously, you wouldn’t even be promoting Raissa Robles here.

So go and reflect on what you are doing.

        1. Oh, hi Cluelesss

That was meant for Mr JM who keeps lecturing us about righteousness when in fact he is the one wreaking havoc on this site. It would be good if he can practice what he preaches by quitting the red herring.

        1. Thanks for the link.

You just have to admire Japan’s resilience. They quickly pick-up the pieces and move on. That is something I cannot say about Filipinos. Latter seem to get stuck with too much politics most times.

      1. So wait a minute. Visitors and regular posters are of a different class? I’m not sure I grasp that. And at what point am I properly anointed as “regular”? When I slam the yellow zombies and call Raissa Robles trash? Either “fit in or get out”?

        1. Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realise you consider yourself a regular. You’ve dismissed and tried to put this site down in your own blogsite so many times in the past. I can’t even tell if you are coming or going. You are in a class of your own if you ask me.

        2. who cares if you’re called a “regular” or not?

and where does it say “get out”?

if you wanna belong somewhere, find someplace yellow and filled with gullible idiots. you’ll be annointed anything you like, even “fabio.”

          mountain-out-of-a-molehill drama queen.

        3. When our site stat shows a link back to your site, it is a good indication that you have written something about GRP again, which is about the only reason why I would go there. Your write-up about me shows how you can be unkind to women who have done nothing to you personally. You are not a sport at all, Mr. Joe America.

        4. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realise you consider yourself a regular. You’ve dismissed and tried to put this site down in your own blogsite so many times in the past. I can’t even tell if you are coming or going. You are in a class of your own if you ask me.”

Ilda, kailangan talaga ni Maher boy, aka Joe America, na gumamit ng makahiya.

Come to think of it, I also was hard on both of you and benign0 and I’m I’m very embarrassed with your civility and politeness.

As for me – I am for what I am and my reaction is dependent of who my adversary is.

If he’s an a**hole like Maher boy, then treat him as *ss****. No more, no less.

        5. Labeling Maher boy, aka Joe America, as not a sport is like calling Charles Mason an ideal baby sitter.

Tama si Parallax, it’s a love-hate thing for this dud inre of this blog.

In his blog, my first time to visit it since Ilda mentioned it, he has described his son as culturally ambidextrous.

And one of the definitions of ambidextrous –

          am·bi·dex·trous (adj.): Deceptive or hypocritical.

          Coincidence?

You must also remember that he is Bill Maher’s ass-kisser. Bill Maher is a satirist.

(He commented: Now if Ambrose Bierce, Jonathan Swift, Chris Rock, George Carlin, Andy Rooney and Bill Maher formed a public interest group . . . sign me up! They all believe in free use of the brain instead of bogging it down with dogma.)

          And they are all satirists.

        6. @joe:

oh, paralleaxe, you are correct; my bad. She only suggested he stop writing, which is different. So sorry.

she didn’t suggest that he stop writing. she told him that he wouldn’t get responses if he wasn’t drawing any with his posts. so basically the implication is, take what you dish out.

how do you manage to misinterpret everything that is thrown your way, joe? you really should get a refund from alma mater. your bs in bs just ain’t worth the toilet paper it’s wiped with.

        7. 2nd shift have just started…:D…buti hindi kayo nagkakalito lito kung anong persona gagamitin nyo..:))

        8. Joe, When did we have a GUEST/REGULAR classification here? Also there may be LURKERS here who have been reading GRP way way before I stumbled upon it AND aren’t posting comments. Does that make them more REGULAR than the regular that you are referring?

Also, last part of your statement sounds like Aquino’s you-are-not-part-of-my-team approach.

    4. JM

      First thing first –

      > Check you’re reading comprehension.

      > Do you read your comment beefore posting it?

Kabarkada ka ni Maher boy siguro…

  10. Utterly despicable for some people to irrationally make fun of the Catholic church.

Well… what can one really expect? This is the very same crowd that worships Corona, the confirmed thief and pathological liar, as their “saint”.

    Pathetic.

    1. I can make fun of the Pinoy Catholic Church. You superstitious ignorants won’t even know of the Fourth Crusade, or the real origins of the Santacruzan, or even the original route the Black Nazarene took being moved from one church to another. You heretics and idolaters just do without thinking and call it “catholic tradition”. Well here’s news: your folk catholicism causes harm and inconvenience to real people with real jobs and concerns and real spiritual needs. Go back to catechism school and find out why your Filipino clergy can’t explain the faith to you in real and open terms.

And as an exception, I don’t worship Corona, but I am a stickler for rule of law, not the bullshit theocracy that you espouse. Either prosecute the accused properly, or don’t prosecute at all. But to a theocrat like you, with your unproven claim to have the “truth” on your side, it should make no difference. You are Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin, ready to stoke the passions of the unthinking mob, to protect your own interests.

      1. @Don

        Let me remind you…

It NOT the Catholic Church nor its devotees nor its clerics nor its practices that are on trial. It is Corona who is on trial for being a “thief and pathological liar”.

        1. Yes, Corona is on trial but your vindictiveness and maliciousness are a proof of your hypocrisy. Even the one who is on trial should have his right to defend himself and to answer the said charges against him.

Got proof? I’ll just let the trial go on if I were you. Jesus said, “Those who have no sin let him cast the first stone.” I can even call you a “thief and a pathological liar”. Seriously.

        2. I know this dud Don will not agree to testify against Corona, that fact that he knows Corona is thief and pathological liar.

(What did he steal? What has he lied to be called a pathological liar?)

I’m just wondering if he’ll be sued for moral defamation for the person he is defaming, can he support his accusation with facts?

It’s not farfetched that this would happen.

But, alas, they will hide again behind this freedom of expression right!

How about Don, I expose you as pedophile because your name sounds like one?

Peer pressure and comprehension are the two evils of our societies that we have to contend.

      2. This dud, Maher boy, aka Joe America is a misinformation purveyor and a dishonest commenter.

No more no less. And he’s happy with it.

      3. @Don

        Your comment

“I can make fun of the Pinoy Catholic Church. You superstitious ignorants won’t even know of the Fourth Crusade, or the real origins of the Santacruzan, or even the original route the Black Nazarene took being moved from one church to another. You heretics and idolaters just do without thinking and call it “catholic tradition”. Well here’s news: your folk catholicism causes harm and inconvenience to real people with real jobs and concerns and real spiritual needs.”

Ok, what are the things you want to discuss with the above?
        I take the cahllenge.

    2. Ultimately, this JM is having a monumental tantrum right now. He thought we were mocking holy week all because he misread or misunderstood a comment above.

JM, nobody said holy week was a comedy. What they said was that you were providing us with comedy, during this holy week, with your comments. If you can’t understand the difference between the two, you’re a signal no. 4 mowrown.

    3. You know what’s pathetic? Those people with vindictive and malicious minds. Those who believe someone who is evil or bad or ‘corrupt’ yet they have nothing to prove. If I were you, I’ll just leave it to God. NO COMPROMISES. Pathetic, isn’t it?

Yellow hypocritical troll detected. You’re going defensive against those who makes fun of the Catholic church yet you love to make fun or vilifying on someone who was perceived as ‘evil’. Like I said, God is disappointed on what you are doing. Tsk, tsk.

  11. @Joe America

Thank you Joe America for uncovering the true nature of this site by asking these profound questions: “Visitors and regular posters are of a different class? I’m not sure I grasp that. And at what point am I properly anointed as ‘regular’? When I slam the yellow zombies and call Raissa Robles trash? Either ‘fit in or get out’? “

After all these questions, I hope they don’t brand you with the dreaded status — “visitor”.

    1. that’s just pathetic, jm.

first you get pwned after being this holier-than-thou hypocrite who believes hearsay like most gullible people do, and now that you’re butthurt you resort to looking for allies in your butthurtness.

      typical.

enjoy your love-in with joe america.

    2. JM’s Right, they brand me with a lot worse than that. Contrary views drive them into apoplexy so they go to the slime machine. Dignity is not something the thugs here aspire to.

I really don’t get the distinction between visitor and regular commenter, but that distinction suggests a commenter has to have credentials to be accepted as legitimate. Even the Terms of Service refer to the Get Real community, as if you have to subscribe to their ideology to belong. It is like most things in the Philippines, “you are either fer me or agin’ me”. A cabal. A clique. A family, opposed to the Aquino family. It just lacks having a street in Manila named after the site.

      1. @joe “i’m so butthurt” america:

Dignity is not something the thugs here aspire to.

dignity is for non-hypocrites, so don’t expect to have any.

        1. Ow, Maher boy knows the definition of dignity? Jeez. That’s news.

          How about honor among thieves?

This dud has not been labeled anything worse than misinformation purveyor and dishonest. Don”t be misled by his misinformation and dishonesty about that.

Now, playing the victim card again, “JM’s Right, they brand me with a lot worse than that. Contrary views drive them into apoplexy so they go to the slime machine. Dignity is not something the thugs here aspire to.”

          Kawawa naman. Aping-api.

Hey, Maher boy aka Joe America, once you’re a dishonest, you don’t have anymore claim for dignity.

Kahit sino, bababuyin ka na lang.

It’s all your undoings. Don’t blame anybody and don’t play the victimhood card!

      2. There’s no thug here. But definetly, there’s this one disinformation purveyor and dishonest commenter here.

You’re an ass**** if you can’t prove any thuggery here!

      3. Just like your idol Aquino, Joe. Just like your idol.

        ‘It is like
        most things in the
        Philippines, “you
        are either fer me
        or agin’ me”. A
        cabal. A clique.’

  12. 1. Jm came here mocking the authenticity of CJ support group/survival of GRP by pointing out the comment section on a single article which is “nilalangaw” daw accdg to his standard.

Raissa’s blog may have a lot of post but if she can resort to posting LOL in reply to a detailed defense of a commenter, I am willing to bet 90% of the posts are Vicenzio-style. How would you respect this woman?

    2. Pray for our souls?

Are you kidding me? You’ve already judged a person based on showbiz level evidences then you say you will pray for us? Maybe there is no Innocent-until-proven-guilty verse in the Bible, eh?

  13. Leave Joe America alone. He is just being honest. Why can’t you just allow people to have their own views?

If I were you guys, I would just focus and address the main issue at hand: Corona is a “thief and pathological liar”.

    1. If I were you guys, I would just focus and address the main issue at hand

You and your kind are the ones who keep changing the subject by attacking the writers of this site.

Corona is a “thief and pathological liar”.

Has this been proven in court?

      1. Why can’t he see that his own statement also applies to him? He keeps going ballistic at opinions not agreeing with his’/idol’s (raissa) opinion.

        1. Actually, I’ve never read the blog, not that you would believe me. Y’all appear to have your own reality rattling around in your brain. My idols are Ambrose Bierce. Andy Rooney. Charles Dickens. You wouldn’t know them, I’m sure, because you are so wrapped up in your comic books and other fantasies.

        2. Actually, I’ve never read the blog, not that you would believe me. Y’all appear to have your own reality rattling around in your brain.

you gave up your credibility a long time ago, joe america. it’s not our fault you have none of it left, wishy washy victim of the universe.

    2. “Corona is a “thief and pathological liar”. Wow, I’m impressed that you are such an expert on the CJ’s guilt and you say it with such great unshakable authority. You should volunteer you’re talents and services to the prosecution so that they can wrap this case up.

    3. If I were you, I will just focus on this: JM’s Right is a hypocrite who doesn’t believe in the rule of law and wants to worship the ‘god of CHAOS’ not the God of order. Sorry, idiot. But I will never believe in hearsays and God hates SLANDERERS.

  14. Ateneo students led a noise barrage among thousands of motorists along Katipunan Rd. to demand the ouster of Renato Corona as Chief Justice. A student organizer of the activity was quoted as saying, “the noise barrage is our way of apologizing to the Filipino people for the criminal acts committed against them by a fellow Atenean – Renato Corona. He has to be removed from office to make the Judiciary, once more, a servant of the people and not just of GMA.”

Patalsikin na si Corona sa pwesto. Siya’y isang salot ng lipunan. “Kung hindi ngayon, kalian pa?”

    1. What they are doing is PURE INSANITY. If I were those idiots, I will just let the trial to go course. Well, it’s natural since Aquino is an Ateneo alumnus.

I will not be surprised if these students want to kill innocent people. If Corona is ousted then the HLI decision is reversed, then will bring their own guns and will show their true colors, unfortunately. And… wait, why would not they stage up a rally in the first place?

  15. benignO: The right to express opinions we loathe carries with it, reciprocally, the right of the reader to simply disregard such opinions outright.

So, it is best to IGNORE comments the reader thinks were deliberately intended merely to annoy or distract–and to elicit a response they already know and anticipate. In fact, every response, critical or otherwise, becomes, to these commenters, the measure of their success in having their ideas (if you can still call it that) recognized as worth the time responding to and in having somehow irritated someone whose arguments they dislike–or whose opinions they have been programmed, even funded, to disagree–and then proceed to decry (and, in a way, gloat over) the “vile and wicked” language of the response to their similarly-worded comments.

Even then, let them be (but with nary a comment) and allow these freedom of speech advocates to continue weaving their own set of imagined realities as undeleted historical testimony to the skewed political environment prevailing–where facts and lies crudely manipulated to humiliate and embarrass don’t really matter anymore, where individuals (mostly elective public officials, at that) intentionally refuse to understand or deliberately fail to consider what ordinary right-thinking Filipinos reared up in the typical Filipino upbringing would certainly regard as unfair, unjust or untrue, having evidently lost or abandoned their sense of shame, of decency and propriety.

Of course, “the greatest freedom of speech was the greatest safety, because if a man is a fool, the best thing to do is to encourage him to advertise the fact by speaking.”–Woodrow Wilson (1919)

I’m sure GRP readers would be able to discern and IGNORE comments that have been clearly crafted to provoke a lengthy and pointless tit-for-tat.

    1. I’m sure GRP readers would be able to discern and IGNORE comments that have been clearly crafted to provoke a lengthy and pointless tit-for-tat.

we can’t assume that all the time. the uninitiated to grp who might be seeing their views echoed by the authors for the first few times need to see that trolls aren’t left to play, vandalize and lie as they please on grp soil (or they may, but at the risk of being made an example of, which is an occupational hazard).

there are plenty of other places where they can sh*t wherever they want (wow, sounds like the philippines), but i really don’t think it’s acceptable doing the same thing here.

      1. Hahaha…so funny how some of Joe’s readers still think that I am just a poser. Sorry to disappoint but I’m real.

These people resort to red herring when they can’t win an argument anymore. Joe America’s behaviour is so tiring already. It’s so 2009. No one is stopping him from leaving this site and yet he can’t help but badmouth us in his blogsite. Unfortunately, it’s so obvious that he gets ideas for his own blogsite from the writers here. He even used the same photo I used in my ego article in his most recent ego article. Gees.

        1. Indeed, I’ve gotten ideas from benigno, Arche and Fallen Angel, and provided the credit and the link-backs to the articles. Then I expanded or took their thoughts in my own original direction. I would have done extensive commentary on GRP, except your thugs come out and take anything of substance and mash it to an obscene pulp.

For some reason I can’t find much in your own work to cite, as it does not inspire me to new thinking. If we used the same photo, it is because Google delivered the same image top line in our searches. Trust me, if I knew it had your perfume on it, I’d never have chosen it.

As to originality, you know there is no one quite like JoeAm. Unbound by agenda, not pushing one candidate and smearing another, not raising money, not after fame or glory. Just doing what he does. Trying to make sense of Filipinos, of whom, for sure, you are one. And doing it with a little fun attached.

You can catch my latest at: http://thesocietyofhoonor.blogspot.com/2012/04/sin-city-manila.html

        2. @JoeAmerica: Dude, if there is something about the work of any one of the writers here that you seem to not be able to get, then that is your failing and not ours or any one of us. Take a bit of personal accountability around what is evidently a shortness or narrowness in your world view that the ideas of some folk here simply fly over it or slip through it. Perhaps your brain is simply not wired to grasp certain things that are more sublime than the stuff you are used to digesting.

If you will look at the commentors in your site, you will find that many of them are discredited and disgruntled stragglers who were orphaned by the collapse of FV and Barriosiete and the failure to launch of sites like ProPinoy.net. GabbyD, for example, I had no trouble banning for life (or at least until I do genuinely miss his vacuous comments) because he really is a non-value-added old relic of the Pinoy blogosphere who managed to persist out of sheer density of character (and not much else).

You on the other hand (and unlike GabbyD) have a body of work to back you up. It’s a shame though that despite you being pretty much the only fan of Noynoy I know of who has the guts to hang out in hostile territory, you cancel out that virtue with the rather sad whining about “unfair treatment” you keep spouting and the rather quaint attempts you mount to make unsubstantiated dismissals of some of the writers here. That’s too bad for you as it is your loss and not mine and not ours.

Deal with it, gramps. One credit I can give to the Pinoy blogosphere, for all the mediocrity that infests it, is that it still manages to reward enduring consistency in the long run. That I can personally attest to on the back of my own personal experience. Consistency, however, is something that seems to escape you, which I’ve always found a bizarre thing when considering how much of a well-read and articulate person you otherwise come across as. Perhaps that is the tragedy of the Philippines that you somehow ironically embody. It is a country that is ruled by the well-read and well-educated (although Noynoy and Erap kinda broke that run) yet remains inconsistent in the way that it aspires to succeed in a world that, itself, rewards consistency.

Tough luck for guys like you.

        3. @ilda: joeam’s bullshit never ends. from claiming your articles couldn’t be substantiated, to calling those who fiercely disagree with his b.s. (it is what it is) “thugs” just for catching him flatfooted all the time. like it’s anyone else’s fault his reasoning is flawed, flimsy, and downright filipinized in the worst possible way, with eloquence of course.

          @joe:

I would have done extensive commentary on GRP, except your thugs come out and take anything of substance and mash it to an obscene pulp.

what a stupid excuse for not being able to defend the indefensible in pnoy’s actions (or lack of) and his own subordinates’ shady deeds. don’t blame others for your lack of substance and focus on (misleading) form. there’s nobody stopping you from bringing your a-game; trouble is, you don’t have one.

For some reason I can’t find much in your own work to cite, as it does not inspire me to new thinking.

blaming others for one’s own lack of creativity and originality ending up with uninspired output – more fun in the philippines. stop whining about not finding as many obvious backlinks and do your own research, lazt whiner.

Trust me, if I knew it had your perfume on it, I’d never have chosen it.

well now you do. take it down why dontcha? (but of course you won’t. other than you’re too lazy to be original, like the typical pinoy, you were lying about not wanting to use it if it had ilda’s “perfume” on it.)

As to originality, you know there is no one quite like JoeAm. Unbound by agenda, not pushing one candidate and smearing another, not raising money, not after fame or glory.

          unbound by agenda = b.s.

not pushing a candidate and smearing another = b.s. because it’s no longer about “candidates” (what, you think everyone’s dumb enough to fall for that one?)

not raising money = who knows? i’ve no proof that you are making any money off kissing pnoy’s hind parts, but i’m guessing you like it so much you don’t mind doing it free of charge (like it’s a noble thing)

Trying to make sense of Filipinos, of whom, for sure, you are one.

translated: “don’t criticize one of your own kind.” but joe, you’re pinoy too! this is great motivation to tell you and those like you what’s wrong with you, again and again and again.

        4. benigno, ah, got the heavy hitter out now. I’ll take my bunch of castaways over your batch of pubescent thugs any day. Now your honorable writers, Arche and Fallen Angel, and yes, yourself, I respect, and learn from. But about half of your “community” . . . well, if that is your “style” as a professional . . . uh, . . . nevermind.

        5. “Heavy hitter” am I? Now ain’t that just so Pinoy of you Joe America. Tsk tsk. Sure you can take your “bunch of castaways” as it’s not as if you have much of a choice anyways. 😀

        6. @Joe

I’ll take my bunch of castaways over your batch of pubescent thugs any day.

Then why are you here? LOL

        7. benigno,

You write of Filipino character and find it falls short of ideal, where ideal I suppose is Australian, or German, or your character, personally. My observation is that, for many Filipinos, the “character” is ego atop insecurity, or ego atop ignorance. It is an odd mixture that assures values other than forthright problem-solving and competence emerge. “Face” and winning interpersonal power struggles supplant courtesy and candor and working to find good ways forward. Cheating is robust because it is a way to beat the rest of the nation to the little wealth that is available here. Ilda and your other writers cite these barriers to competence: excuse-making, blames, playing the victim, and other weaknesses. Fallen Angel did a wonderful piece on the 10 Commandments recently.

Then he went on-line as a commenter and cranked up a sexually loaded personal slur against the President of the Philippines.

That’s my hang-up. You pronounce the Filipino deficiencies and then manage a blog site that is hardly centered on forthright discussion, courtesy , respect for opposing views and problem-solving. It is a rats nest of ego on insecurity, or ego on ignorance. The “must win” debates seldom seek understanding, or even try to teach. Dominance is the goal. These are the same traits that lead the Philippines to be exactly what it is today. I find it surreal.

        8. @JoeAmerica: If it is indeed “sexually loaded personal slur against the President of the Philippines” as you claim, how does that stack up against the wholesale con of the Filipino people, the blatant coddling of cronies in the face of very evident impropriety and fatal incidences of negligence, the mounting of a monumentally wasteful and pointless witch hunt and demonisation campaign, and just being an all-around embarrassment to an entire people already starved for validation, sense of identity and substance-based pride as it is?

You are right. You are hung up on a lot of things about this site that offend your so-called “breeding”. But you cannot deny that this is the only site out there where smart people post smart comments in far greater proportion compared to other more “congenial” sites that are nothing more than orgies of mutual backpatting and high-fives among like-minded individuals who re-enforce and propagate one another’s inbred ideas and views of the world.

Here, the discussion may not be as polite as your bourbon-sipping sensibilities would like it to be. But at least the conflict and debate is in-your-face and readily evident — a lot more than I can say for other sites that are nothing more than shells of “polite company” masking that vacuous uniquely-Pinoy way of life that orbits around the intrigahan and silipan that is famously built upon our world-renowned lack of mutual trust for one another.

Deal with it gramps. There is a cost associated to hanging out with a smart people. Seems to me you find yourself struggling to afford the lifestyle.

          ha ha!

        9. benigno, my drink of preference is San Mig, and I agree the articles here are CONSISTENTLY the most thought provoking of Philippine blog sites. Maybe, on occasion, my own ping at enlightenment, too. Sometimes GRP is also the nastiest.

Let me go one more round then call it quits. I made a statement above. It could be perceived as critical of: (a) Filipinos, (b) Filipinos with ego on insecurity or ego on ignorance, (c) Fallen Angel, (d) benigno and (e) those who comment on Get Real Post. Just about everybody. But it was a sincere personal observation born of several years of experience, Western culture interacting with Filipino culture.

Now the trouble with ego on insecurity or ego on ignorance is that it creates a wall around the individual called “face”. And that face is resistant to criticism, whether intended or not. Constructive criticism is for sure blocked, for it is indeed criticism. Every effort to convey information, other than total capitulation, is taken as criticism. Bingo. The onion skin arises.

If I had the most helpful new idea in the world, it could not get through that wall. Education can’t get through it. Another man’s experience and culture can’t get through it, even though it is harmless. And we end up with the barrier to growth that dominates the Philippines. The resistance to knowledge, to introspection, to enlightenment.

So what occurs in the Philippines so often occurs right here. A wall of dares and insults blocks courteous exchange and exploration of differences. The discipline to seek understanding, even in the face of criticism, is replaced by the need to win. Now Filipinos far and wide are not aware of the dynamic they live because, indeed, that is the definition of ignorance.

But what is the reason knives are drawn here, at Get Real Post? Why do conversations here more often than not migrate off into a substance akin to fighting chickens ripping at each other? If you speak sincerely, I will listen sincerely.

I have no idea how to get through the wall of “face” that blocks healthy discussion when two parties disagree. It appears to bludgeon is the approved methodology.

        10. @Joe

Please check your ego. Instead of complaining, you just need to walk away. You don’t have to win every argument.

You can’t control the behaviour of other commenters by crying-foul all the time. You are part of the problem. You deserve all the unfavourable response you get because you attack other people too. You brought all of it onto yourself.

Follow your own advice and take the high road.

        11. @JoeAmerica: If you haven’t noticed yet, there is no “face” here, Joe America. Only ideas — if you can focus on them. And if you assert that some of the “personal observations” that you observed are unfairly misconstrued as unfairly critical of what we do and how we behave here, then you will also have to accept that it is possible that you too may be unfairly misconstruing the ferocity with which we defend our ideas here as mere instances of that “onion-skinnedness” that you observe in the typical Pinoy.

Being critical of criticism is a step beyond being merely open to criticism. Criticism is, itself, a counter-argument that needs to be evaluated too, you know. A discussion that starts with an assertion does not end with one criticism. The latter too is fair game for evaluation and counter-argument. So, yes, it never ends. You may construe that “never-ending” discussion as something that describes the pointlessness of all this. If so, then you are, yourself, missing the point.

Perhaps some of the comments unduly come with drawn knives here. But the trick is to respond only to the payload if you are not prepared to get into a knife fight. Respond only to the substance of an argument and learn to strip away the noise that you think surrounds it. If you cannot do that, then you simply have to learn to engage along multiple fronts and/or multiple levels without having to whine about the effort half the time.

        12. @Benign0

In other words, Joe just needs to grow up and stop crying.

Joe behaves as if he expects people to kiss his ass all the time. That’s never going to happen when he’s being inconsistent and specially when he is in someone else’s territory.

        13. “@JoeAmerica: If you haven’t noticed yet, there is no “face” here, Joe America. Only ideas — if you can focus on them. And if you assert that some of the “personal observations” that you observed are unfairly misconstrued as unfairly critical of what we do and how we behave here, then you will also have to accept that it is possible that you too may be unfairly misconstruing the ferocity with which we defend our ideas here as mere instances of that “onion-skinnedness” that you observe in the typical Pinoy.”

I think this Maher boy aka Joe America is so idiot to understand it.

          So idiot…

          May bagong kakampi, JM.

          He he he…

          Birds of the same feather.

          Pareho ang reasoning ability.

        14. @trosp: the persistent bullsh*tter will be back, guaranteed. you can bet joeam’s wife he’ll be back. (it’s just his way of hiding the fact that he doesn’t really have anything going for him. nobody’s falling for his victim act.)

        15. benigno, thanks for the reasonable response. I appreciate it. I disagree with your first sentence, but that is no biggie, for your advice on knives makes sense. I did not intend to “whine” but to figure out the dynamics that make courtesy seem so rare in the Philippines, when people disagree.

        16. I did not intend to “whine” but to figure out the dynamics that make courtesy seem so rare in the Philippines, when people disagree.

          But whine you did, Joe.

Courtesy is accorded to people who deserve it and not to those who are rude and mean to other people.

Try not to act like you own the place, ok?

        17. Parallax, some sort of statement that he’ll quit. So I thought he’ll quit commenting in this blog. My bad. Yun pala, he’ll quit blaming every thing except himself. Whining naman ngayon.

This dud really has no balls.

I don’t even know who are the thugs he is referring to in this blog. I won’t hold my breath if he’d tell the comment readers how these thugs bullied him.

        18. He he he. I think Maher boy aka Joe America aka “blame it to them dud” is really calling it quits.

But there is this collateral damage. This dud wanted the webmaster to block his comment.

          Webmaster take note.

          Parallax, take note also.

This dud thinks he can obscure his intention with his rhetoric. He he he, for me, very transparent.

        19. trosp, this is my latest challenge to joe:

          http://getrealphilippines.com/2012/04/the-dying-lands/comment-page-1/#comment-29963

the challenge has stood for 10 hours, and he has come up with nothing. all of his blogging about how pnoy is the saviour of the philippines, thousands upon thousands of words praising pnoy and his administration, yet he comes up with nothing but calling me names.

this is exactly what he hates about me, because no matter how he forces himself around here trying so hard to appear helpful and relevant, he cannot shake being identified as a hypocrite who plays like a typical politician.

so i manage to reveal his true colors yet again, showing that joe america is all form, no substance, just like the pnoyness he defends day in and day out.

payo lang pare – calling him “maher boy” does absolutely nothing. but calling him out on his bluff and getting him to reveal his true colors – these are worth the effort. he is a phoney and could not prove he isn’t if his life depended on it, thanks to the hogwash he puts online all the time.

      2. @JM’s Right:

Just the opposite, actually. The reason why you’re saying this is because you are so butthurt because you are also vile and nasty by resorting to red herrings and vilifying a political enemy.

Congratulations on your hypocrisy. As God is my witness, YOU are bad news. As from someone who is “God-fearing”, your EMO is showing full force. You’re even a point-misser, revealing the fact that you are just trolling.

    2. I will always advocate for freedom of speech. Even if the “speech” is:

      a. unnecessarily lengthy
      b. boring
      c. made of poorly constructed sentences

      1. “Nobody panics when things get according to plan. Even the plan is HORRIFYING!” -The Joker.

You advocate for freedom of speech but you are bullying and vilifying someone; fact you have a twisted view on it. No wonder why America is much better on handling freedom of speech than here. It’s not freedom what you want. It’s MADNESS.

I won’t be surprised if you want a chaotic Philippines and hates something like Singapore.

        1. Daido Katsumi: This is basically the point I was driving at earlier in my reply to BenignO–that the sole aim of these guys is simply to distract and divert, by comments articulated in a manner that they very well know will soon degenerate in no time into an ad hominen tit-for-tat exchange. And this strategy can only come from those who are getting paid for doing it or are simply envious of the success of the GRP blog.

But then, it’s Easter Sunday; we’re supposed to “forgive those who trespass against us.” And we should, for these are actuations one can expect only from children who grew up–abused, rejected, disowned.

  16. Napunta na sa personalan itong “only 54 comments” article na ito.

And to think that it was started by a certain bible-thumping guy.

  17. YOU are bad news because you are spamming in this thread. Hypocritical isn’t it?

Requesting for deletion. It doesn’t even help the argument since it’s more like attacking the author than the message. It’s AD HOMINEM.

    THAT is your true nature.
