What do the Yellowtards stand for and who do they look to for leadership?

There is a question that’s baffled me over the last several weeks now:

What do the Yellowtards stand for and who do they look to for leadership?

On first glance, the answer to this question seems obvious. Of course they stand for all the good things delivered by the 1986 people power “revolution”; freedom, democracy, yadda yadda. They also revere — and even pray to — the founder of modern Philippine democracy, the late former president Cory Aquino. They venerate her son, outgoing President Benigno Simeon ‘BS’ Aquino III as an incarnate of that leadership. They express their devotion to this branded advocacy by flashing the “L” hand gesture which symbolises the laban (fight) for that freedom and wearing yellow-coloured attire whenever possible, specially when attending yellow-branded rallies. Their oft-chanted mantra is Daang Matuwid (straight path) which, they believe, is the key underlying principle and philosophy of the Yellow brand. They also extend this devotion to people who are endorsed under that yellow brand — specifically “vice president-elect” Leni Robredo: who precariously stands as the last bastion of Yellow power in the Philippines’ Executive branch of government.

So then perhaps, in light of recent developments, the Yellowtards might want to consider that a stock-take of this belief system has come due.

Here are some guide questions that could be used for this evaluation:

(1) Does the Liberal Party of the Philippines still exist in the form the Yellowtards had originally come to adore?

Unfortunately, the Liberal Party, like any other political “party” in the Philippines was just an election winning machine back in 2010 and a power brokerage house over the course of BS Aquino’s six-year term. Today it has all but disintegrated. The “vice president-elect” Leni Robredo no longer seems to associate herself with the LP. Indeed there are signs that Robredo who now faces the real possibility that she will lose the vice presidency she supposedly “won” was, herself, double-crossed by the LP. Mar Roxas — the LP’s losing presidential candidate — has gone back to wearing blue shirts. Congress saw a raft of mass defections from the LP and into the PDP Laban Party of president-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

(2) Does the colour Yellow still stand for all the right stuff?

Apparently it no longer does (assuming it ever did). Under the watch of the Liberal Party and outgoing President BS Aquino, massive pork barrel thievery and pork barrel-funded bribery was perpetrated. Under the Daang Matuwid doctrine, laws were baldly ignored, rights were trampled upon, belligerent foreign governments were conspired with, alliances with deadly terrorist groups were entered into, and massive electoral fraud implemented. There was nothing straight about Daang Matuwid. Even simple rules issued by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to govern the conduct of this year’s elections were outright and shamelessly violated by the Liberal Party.

(3) Is there still a Laban to fight?

There is none such. The idea that Yellowtards are supposed to be “fighting” for something has long gone past its use-by date. The Philippines enjoys a moderately mature democracy. This is evident in the relatively orderly and peaceful transition of power currently transpiring before Filipinos’ (and the world’s) eyes. The irony that escapes Yellowtards is that the only battle left worth fighting is right under their noses. The last vestiges of a bygone chaotic past when Philippine elections were known for the “guns, goons, and gold” that fuelled it still remains. Allegations of massive electoral fraud and astoundingly vast sums of money spent on campaigns persist. It is quite remarkable that Yellowtards do not see these two big and current affronts to Philippine democracy as issues worth highlighting.

The answers to the above three guide questions are quite confronting. Yellowtards, in short, seem to now lack any underlying principles upon which to base the rather quaint movements in their ranks we observe today. The way they defend and apologise for the personalities they revere is marked by an absolute lack of modern logic and sound argument. They have no coherent position on any issue. They only have their undying devotion to keep them going.

The Yellowtards now also lack a god-like leader. Why is godliness in Yellowtard leadership important? Simple. Because Yellowtards base their actions on blind belief rather than on sound thinking. You can see this in the way they continue to foolishly grasp at their increasingly nebulous political brand, one whose representation in the real world — an organised party, consistent political leaders, and an intelligent guiding philosophy — have become mere shells if not totally non-existent.

Perhaps the best thing the Yellowtards could do is retire their brand and disband their “advocacies”. Theirs is but a mere relic of an era that has now closed. More importantly, Yellowtardism is practically inextricably interwoven into the fabric of Imperial Manila politics. Unfortunately the powerbase has shifted. The new president is a Mindanaoan. President-elect Duterte is an outsider to inbred Imperial Manila politics and will, for the first time in Philippine history, more strongly represent the interests of the long-neglected southern regions of the country.

There are no significant EDSA “shrines” or monuments to Yellowtardism in Mindanao. And that is a strong indicator of a reality that Yellowtards need to come to terms with. Perhaps it is high time the Yellowtards extricate themselves from the dark blanket of Yellowtardism and open their eyes to the dawn of a new era.

  1. Yellowtardism ended in 1987 + after Cory crafted the Constitution. The Nationalist Provision in the constitution is now obsolete and yet they try to continue it despite the rise of globalization. Yellowtards are stuck in the old times. the reason The Philippines is lagging behind.

it’s time for Constitutional Reform under DU30 presidency. it’s time we face the brave frontier.

    1. “Yellowtardism ended in 1987”
False, Yellowtards still exists even today, they are the mindless people who are still loyal to the Liberal Party(Partido Liberal) despite the party’s corruption, these simpletons believe everything they see on TV with no second thoughts. They are NOT fighting for democracy or freedom anymore, they are just fighting for a political party & it’s long-due promises that weren’t kept

  2. The yellowtards stands for Marcial Bonifacio the Malaysian citizen Traitor known as Ninoy Aquino the Non Pilipino worthy to die for 32 years of Hacienda luisita self interest of an Economic Hitmen of Marcos destruction of the Philippines, The reform of open Corruption of Senatong Tanda and his napolis list of money bathub auditors that brought down to third world country status of Bribed Bacon Barrel of Crown and thorns of the yellow oligarchs stuck in old times.

  3. “What do the Yellowtards stand for and who do they look to for leadership?”

That’s easy. The “Chekwa” community that is made up of Chinese-Filipinos (Chinoys) and Chinese foreigners, who know how to keep the “Bamboo Network” alive and well by forming political and business cartels–while keeping other ethnicity out–to take over and monopolized an entire nation.

  4. the ‘L’-uisita sign ended in 1983 at the tarmac. and it took 30 years for Pilipinos to realized they’ve been fooled by black propagandas especially the youngs. the hacienda luisita was owned by the farmers since pre-spanish times and then was sequestered by the spanish governor. it is (hacienda luisita) the roots why the Philippines suffered miserebly. it is worth dying for.

  5. It was mostly based on personality cult from 1986 onward. With the Aquinos now out of favor and only Leni to bank on, this cult is losing steam.

Second, LP had always branded itself as opposition, so when it became the party in power, they probably didn’t know what to do.

Third, warlordism is still the main factor behind politics in this country. They were also likely pulling the strings in the LP. And warring within the party as the various factions.

  6. GRP is biased, confirmed. Despite their claim that it isn’t biased, it’s not hard to notice how they always points out only the negatives of the yellow and only the positives of the Marcos side, when in fact, both have their merits and faults. I’m neither a Yellow or a Marcos loyalist, btw.

    1. We’re not under the Marcos days. Get over it!

GRP is interested more in Pinoy society’s cultural dysfunction which happen to be more pronounced within the brainwahsed Yellow crowd.

Blame it on the Yellow brand, the brand of hate. They have so much negative material to write about. Their followers are the ones who currently need to wake-up. They’re the ones abusing power, exploiting media, and the gullibility of people (like yourself.) GRP functions as a balancing viewpoint against the larger Yellow-promoting media sources out there.

No need to be dishonest—You ARE biased towards the Yellow. That’s all there is to it.

    2. You’re a Yellow Zombie, confirmed. You’re thoroughly blinded by your own anti-Marcos bias by accusing this site as being pro-Marcos. Stop this crybaby crap, son.

      1. Read my comment. I’m against the yellows too. But It’s also questionable how GRP never criticizes Marcoses like they do the Yellows. Both the Yellows and Marcoses have their own faults.

        1. How exactly are the Marcoses—or even BBM—relevant to the issues concerning the current administration run by the yellows? Surely there’s more to be noticed about that given the current circumstances than what happened back in 1972.

        1. Evaluativist,

Good luck in finding a “stand alone” politician that is not supported by “factions” or organizations. You might find out in the bathroom, campaigning for one that is looking back at him/her from a mirror.

          Aeta

  7. YellowTadism was a political/religious ideology, founded by the called icon/saint of EDSA, the late Cory Aquino. It was established in response to the U.S./C.I.A. effort to remove Marcos Sr.; because of his refusal to renew the U.S. Bases Agreement.

The YellowTards flash the :”L” , Laban sign.
The political/religious ideology of YellowTardism is now obsolete. Their EDSA Shrine could be turned, into JollyBee, McDonald or KFC. Most Filipinos do not believe the Aquinos, anymore. They committed: mass thievery of the National Treasury; massive corruption thru : DAP, PDAF, Pork Barrel Bribery; they allowed and were participants of the: Hacienda Luisita massacre; Mendiola massacre; they allowed the Luneta Chinese tourist massacre; Mamapasano massacre; etc…this is their “Daan Matuwid” result of their political/religious ideology.

The more we put the Aquinos, EDSAs, the Cojuangco/Aquino political alliance; to the dustbin of Philippine History; the better for us all !

  8. It would seem that it isn’t the new President who shall be walking a thin line, during his administration. During the campaign, he had forewarned everyone of his intentions and had described his methods in no uncertain terms…and, still, we resoundingly voted him in. The election of Mr. Duterte into the Presidency, after his graphic, (and actual), demonstration, while still campaigning, of how harshly his administration would be conducted, should be taken as an approval, (even an endorsement) of his presidential style. There is, now, an unmistakable, if unwritten, contract between the electorate and the new President that might even make the UNHCR’s, and local Human Rights Commission’s, roles, now, moot and academic.
Now, it is the electorate, the very citizens who punched Mr. Duterte’s ticket to the Presidency, who must walk the line. They have approved of Mr. Duterte’s ‘hardline’ methods of fighting crime…including extra-judicial executions, (if Mr. Duterte’s own words are true); they have given validity to his threats of by-passing congress on issues which he may consider too important for them to stall or disapprove; they have tacitly gone along with an amorphous idea of ‘detente’ with the communist party and the MILF…even of his giving these groups sensitive roles in governance; and, they have bought into federalizing the country, without as much as a peek into how this would help, or as to how the country may now be ‘divied-up’ into new semi-autonomous states. It is now for all citizens, (not just those who voted for Mr. Duterte), to observe and conclude whether his methods are effective, and to applaud when these redound to the country’s benefit…or, to protest and tell the President when and where to get off, if or when his methods fail. This might be what is called the ‘thin line’. And, it is the citizenry who must walk it.
This is, by no means, an admonition of those who voted for Mr. Duterte. Heaven knows how frustrated and hopeless the citizenry have been for some thirty years now…despite high hopes engendered by the events of February 1986. Heaven knows how desperate we have been…for real change… all these years. Rather, this is an alert…a forewarning, if you like…that the pendulum had now swung from one extreme to the other. This is a reminder that our choices have costs…which we must be prepared to face-up to, and pay.

    1. Aquino and his minions committed the worse things in our country. Aquino bribed Congress and the Senate with Pork Barrel Bribes. He stole taxpayers’ money thru: DAP, PDAF, etc… Aquino impeached the late Supreme Court CJ Renato Corona, and put his own people, to protect his Hacienda Luisita. Aquino did not do anything on the : Maguindanao massacre; Hacienda Luisita massacre; Mendiola massacre; etc…

Aquino allowed the : Luneta Chinese Hostage massacre; the Mamapasano massacre, etc..

If we talk about “human rights”…Aquino never observed any “human rights”…did any of those who committed the murders jailed ? No sir, they are as free, as a bird !

Our human rights and will to choose our leaders, were frustrated by Aquino’s Electoral Fraud in the 2016 election. Now, his cahoots in the COMELEC, led by that Hacienda Luisita Swine : COMELEC Bautista and his cahoots; have made the LP, above the law, by his recent decisions, to accommodate the LP candidates.

We have to wait and see, if Pres. Elect Duterte, can make the difference. Give the man a chance, instead of demonizing him !

      1. I don’t recall having written anything in this commentary that denigrated…let alone demonized…the President-elect; but I’ll check anyway. As regards your allegations against President Aquino, I trust you have the goods on him…ie, solid evidence; because all these loose talk, (they are still allegations), that he is in ‘cahoots’ with this or that party in order to upset this or that program seem to have been just a lot of steam…ie, hot air. I understand, though, that a slew of court cases are being readied for him, to be served as soon as he steps down. Let’s wait. Let’s allow justice under a new dispensation to take its course.

        1. What evidences do you want?
Are not people massacred, in Aquino’s watch?
The DAP , PDAF, Pork Barrel Bribery, etc…Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Revilla, talked it on the Senate floor. Now they are supposed to be in jail.

Why did not Aquino investigated the Pork Barrel bribery? Because he is the one who bribed Senators , to impeach the late CJ Corona.

YellowTards and Aquino minions ask for evidences: they are right under their noses ! Nonsense !

        2. The Aquino/Cojuangco Hacienda Luisita is the source of all the evils of the Aquino era. Many serfs/tenants were murdered. Many people suffered, because of their greed. Hacienda Luisita was the cause that the Land Reform program was not implemented. They Land Reformed the lands of their political enemies; but spared their Hacienda Luisita.

Aquino also ordered the Electoral Fraud of the 2016 election. He ordered his Hacienda Luisita Swine: COMELEC Bautista to accommodate his LP candidates, violating the law. They are now above the law !

We need to hang Aquino, like Saddam Hussein of Iraq, for his many crimes. He is the worst President…who ever reigned.

  9. To Hyden9999.99
I am… like some others in these pages…an ‘equal opportunity critic, who calls out what I see as irregularities and anomalies on both sides of the spectrum. Everyone knows that there are many dark transgressions committed by both the party in power and the opposition,…which seems to be a mixed bowl of groups and personalities…and these should equally be exposed to sunlight. That the administrators of this blog site seem to be weighted towards the opposition is of no consequence, as everyone is entitled to his/her opinion; and, it happens to be their site. I would like, however, to remark on your commentaries. They are vile, bitter, and unsupported. I worry for you. Unbridled ire and acrimony, as you might know, could cause a ‘blown gasket’. Do yourself a favor…chill out.

    1. @Vagoneto Rieles:

They are the Truth…you look the other way, because, you don’t want to accept the Truth. You are just a YellowTard, who pretend to be an “equal Opportunity critic”…

If you cannot stand the Truth…do not come to this GRP site…do not read the GRP blogs. Because, the Truth will penetrate your thick skull; and you will be hurt ! Much more your Master Aquino will be truly hurt. He cannot handle stress, because of his mental issues…

Nobody tells me what to write. If you play blind, to what is happening to our country.. . it is your choice…If you do not like what I write: don’t read my blogs. It is as simple as that ! CLEAR ?
