Karen Jimeno: the classy face of Corona’s legal team

If the underlying strategy of those who are campaigning for the ouster of Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona is the use of mainstream mass media to demonise him, they may be in for a worthy challenger from those who defend him. Lawyer Karen Jimeno who has taken the role of one of the spokespersons of Corona’s legal team of top-notch attorneys is emerging as a media celebrity in her own right.

Jimeno stands out in stark contrast to the common lack of class of the prosecution team (and the broader anti-Corona campaign juggernaut) in the way she presents herself to and engages the Philippine Media. Together with her colleague and fellow team spokesperson Tranquil Salvador, she provides an oasis of decorum and dignity to what is evidently becoming a minefield of underhanded tactics and jologry that has long been the hallmark of Philippine print and broadcast news.

As I observed in one of their earliest press conferences on Day Two of the impeachment trial

I salute the grace with which Corona’s defense team spokespersons discussed the remains of the day with the media after that “disastrous” showing by the prosecution. They kept reminding everyone to apply a bigger picture perspective on the whole exercise we are being subjected to today courtesy of the vanity and small-mindedness of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, and not see the bumbling antics of the prosecutors on Day 2 as a feather on their cap. The setback of the prosecution team is “just an initial victory” according to Atty. Tranquil Salvador of the defense team “This is not a day-to-day competition. In a trial like this, you need to build up your case,” Salvador said.

This well-bred class stands in stark contrast to the inbred crass of Philippine media. A recent “report” on the ABS-CBN News site made a mountain out of the molehill of an alleged Php 8 million (est. USD 184,000) increase in the wealth of Corona “after joining the SC”. Then again, USD 184,000 being considered to be a big amount to ABS-CBN reporters just highlights the sort of non-money “journalists” make in the Philippines (considering the vast wealth of the Lopez clan who own much of ABS-CBN), which is probably why so many of them need personal “sponsorships” on the side to get by.

More interesting is the way the full statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN) of Corona were splashed all over that “report”. Included in the documents placed online for ready download is Corona’s residential address which, in most countries, would be an unethical practice. But then, this being the Philippines, a Third World country lest we forget, anything goes. The Civil Code of the Philippines lacks any explicit stipulation on the treatment of personal information by the media. In that regard, what ABS-CBN do are, by Philippine standards, normal.

As I wrote a while back in 2009 in my article “The establishmentisation of the Philippine Media”…

I, for example, am very critical of ABS-CBN on the basis of what I see on their Bandila news program which is aired on a free-to-view channel in Australia, specifically in the way they routinely:

– give disproportionate airtime to hearsay (sabi-ni-ganyan and sabi-ni-ganito) “reporting” and other instances of sloppy journalism that insult their otherwise noble profession;

– give disproportionate airtime to politically-charged stories when there are disasters and other events affecting hundreds or thousands of ordinary Filipinos that are more newsworthy and deserving of broadcast minutes; and,

– broadcast images of uncovered dead bodies demonstrating a lack of respect for privacy and regard for common decency.

On one episode (I think this was in the aftermath of flash flooding in the Bicol region), they even had their field reporters and camera crews shoving their way into a busy emergency room to interview medical personnel.

The Filipino viewing public should be thankful for Jimeno’s classy glamour and Salvador’s telegenic communication style. They complement the steely professionalism of the top-notch defense team who give honour to their general, the venerable Serafin Cuevas who, unfortunately, stands out like a law professor in a classroom full of slow learners. If this is going to be a trial-by-media, the Corona legal team are up to the job even in that aspect. They could have been stand ins for the protagonists of lawyer drama TV show Boston Legal. Then again, even the prosecution teams in Boston Legal are shown to be brilliant lawyers themselves — which describes the sort of stretch of the imagination needed to see their Philippine counterparts fitting the bill there.

She’s way above his league.

    1. You talkin’ ’bout Yingluck?

If she was a US President, she’d be Babe-braham Lincoln.

And yeah, PNoy looked like a giggly idiot as he was walking next to the Thai PM in the news.

  2. She’s a pretty face which makes her eye catching on tv but it’s the other lawyer, Atty. Salvador who is articulate and eloquent and has longer experience in litigation, who made the better spokesperson.

  3. Hmmm… someone has to get off his (imaginary) high horse here. I am surprised that this website is named “Get Real Philippines” yet the pseudo-intellectual writer of this article seems to be out of touch with reality. The writer should not confuse his being a fanboy of an “artistahin” lawyer as a sign of his supposedly, “classiness”. His attempted appetence for supposedly finer things is no less than a pretense. The writer should not be deceived by the eloquence and beauty of Atty. Jimeno–though admittedly possessing such fine traits–as a mark of “classiness”. A probinsyano who could not speak English well but could formulate logical arguments, and at the same time, stands up for what he thinks is moral and ethical, is MORE CLASSY than a lawyer, who may seem pretty/handsome on the outside, and who could even have a way with words, yet stands up for what is wrong. But don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that Atty. Jimeno is a bad person. I’m just warning everyone here that not everyone that glitters is gold. Be very cautious for what you might be opening is a can of worms.

    1. @A Fine Jologs

“…who may seem pretty/handsome on the outside, and who could even have a way with words, yet stands up for what is wrong.”

All the more reason to admire Atty Jimeno, given her willingness to stand up for what is right, in full view of the fact that who they’re up against are extremely rich and powerful enemies, whose zealousness at spreading malice, suspicions, and deceit in order to force their own will upon sworn targets, even blatantly disregarding their individual rights, knows no bounds. A sure epitome of class Atty Karen Jimeno is—-unless, of course, your ideal is the President’s sister, Kris…lol!

      1. Young, beautiful, slim very bright, harvard educated, classy. These are the people the country needs.
Instead we end up with a psychological mess, a self interested money grabber ,a promiscuous parent!, an ill-mannered brat, and trailer- trash. Kris aquino proves money cannot buy you class, brains or a cure for autism. I pity the home alone children. The cycle will only continue for the aquinos. Not a clue

      2. @Felipe
I do not see why Kris Aquino is even being dragged into this. Please read and understand my argument first before making your contention, which does not at all, elicit any logical sense.

        1. @A Fine Jologs

I do not see why Kris Aquino is even being dragged into this. Please read and understand my argument first before making your contention, which does not at all, elicit any logical sense.

If you’re quite challenged in that department, let us make it simple for you. If you have any misgivings about the author’s preference for women like Atty Jimeno with obvious admirable qualities for media exposure and the “side” she chooses to advocate, perhaps you should consider the kind of women on the side of the antagonist representing it most prominently such as, well (unless you live in a cave)—Kris. Who among these women do you think would be a better role model for a society in dire need of one? A classy author would rather choose a classy lady (inside and outside) like Atty Jimeno—and that’s as real as it gets!

I’ll leave it to the author & the rest to address the other aspects of your post if they want.

        2. @jay

kris aquino likes to be dragged into everything – especially if it has nothing to do with her.

True, in spite of A Fine Jologs pretensions.

          @A Fine Jologs

“..before making your contention, which does not at all, elicit any logical sense.”

Unlike almost all of the 188 representatives, I read the material before responding to or contending with it. Your post has been adequately read, and your bizarre sense of reality and logic hinder you from catching up with the rest of most folks around here.

    1. which is why i am just waiting for her to “volunteer” as spokesperson for the perse – er – prosecution team.

*insert shrill voice* “bongga di ba? ahahaha!!! move on na kayoh!”

        1. @ILDA
You might want to be accurate with your explanation. I do not see anything wrong with what I said, not unless you reckon that the truth is indeed, hard to accept:

“@Felipe (aka Benigno, the author of this unrealistic, pretentious, and run-off-the-mill blog)

Obviously, you are a one-sided prick and your faux intellect need not be elaborated so as not to further shame yourself.”

STILL @ ILDA and the rest of the crew:

The problem with bloggers like you is you complain when you get censured but YOU actually practice censure in your own puny blogs!

        2. @A Fine Jologs

“@Felipe (aka Benigno, the author of this unrealistic, pretentious, and run-off-the-mill blog)
Interesting. You confuse me with benign0 and yet you presume to be able to tell what counts as “unrealistic.” You even sound so sure of your claim and yet complain about others of being “pretentious.”

Obviously, you are a one-sided prick and your faux intellect need not be elaborated so as not to further shame yourself.”

If you have nothing but expletives and ad hominems (not classy at all) as your best argument against a position you’ve so far been unable to counter, and yet attribute it to a “faux intellect,” what does that make yours?

Before complaining about the “stain on your brother’s shirt” and going ballistic over it, perhaps you should “first take the plank out of your own eye.”—Doing it in this order would give you a better chance at being convincing to others.

  4. TAKEN FROM ILDA: “Discussing or talking about things is good because people get a chance to hear other points of view…”

TAKEN FROM BENIGNO: “…All pertinent opinions are welcome here.”

I really do hope that you stick with your words. The principle behind the freedom of expression IS NOT the freedom from things you do not want to hear. DO NOT CENSURE COMMENTS, which in your opinion, counter your standpoints. You should actually be delighted that opposing views enter the realm of your blog to ascertain the balancing of views!

    1. @A Fine Jologs

Try and reading first their posting guidelines when it comes to comments before you complain. Perhaps you violated some of what is stated there.

Besides, you are not the only poster here who might have a contradicting view to the bloggers/admin here and I do see the posts of those persons.

Perhaps you should read up on that.

      Cheers!

        1. “Besides, you are not the only poster here who might have a contradicting view to the bloggers/admin here and I do see the posts of those persons.”

          THIS.

        2. @A Fine Jologs

I have read what is posted and what can be seen as your comments. You have a contradicting view in most/some of the articles. I can see those.

But your complaint revolved around a certain few/one that was not posted. Ms. Ilda said it was put in spam because of certain foul/tacky language.

May I suggest you try and “reword/rephrase” your comment, so that we can see/read what you want to impart in a proper manner (with regards to that specific post).

          Cheers sir!

        3. @A Fine Jologs

I am fine with reading contradictory views or arguements, as long as they stay objective and are in line with a proper code of conduct (no name calling/flaming etc)

I do also want to admit that sometimes, some posts just do infuriate me (like Vincenzo) so I just try and make light of it with a joke about MSG’s. But I do so if it is him because he has proven, through numerous comments, that he is not here for a proper forum/discussion of Points of View and simply for trolling.

He however does not (as far as my knowledge goes) use any foul language in his trolling, which does not (I believe) necessitate a ban/spam marking.

          Cheers!

        4. @Sphynx

I do NOT need to rephrase my opinion. Please be critical too of what is written in Benigno’s article. Weren’t you appalled to have read “jologry” in it? It is obviously a sign of insensitivity and reflective of an opinion of a middle-class pseudo-intellectual SNOB!

In other words, with this kind of language that the author himself used in his article, he should not be surprised to receive antagonizing comments from readers like me!

So should Benigno have “rephrased” certain words in his article? My answer is NO! He is entitled to that!

But should I rephrase my comment? Obviously, NO too since Benigno himself paved the way for a hostile environment with his article. And besides, as long as my statements are not libelous and in line with the article, the authors should not feel threatened!

          Cheers!

        5. @A Fine Jologs

True, you have a point. Well, quite frankly, I avoided commenting on the specific article as he has stated what he thinks and his comments on it.

As for the words he used, well, please remember, it is his blog, and you are commenting on HIS/THEIR blog. And therefore, HIS/THEIR RULES will apply to us who comment. They are still after order in the comments section. So it is still (I believe) proper for us, to observe THEIR RULES as we are visitors here.

Anyway, that is how understand this “relationship” works. Admins enforce rules and the blog owner also has a right in the comments section of their article. I still think they are open to feedback (pro or con/good or bad) just as long as you keep the dialogue proper.

          Cheers!

      1. @Sphynx

Thank you very much for your views Sphynx. But I am of the belief that the Internet is a free space where we can all express our views. And I do not agree with CENSURE for it abolishes the very freedom that we have in cyberspace.

But here’s the deal. If these bloggers continue censuring comments which are opposed to them, then I am of the belief that they ALSO LOSE their right to protest censorship if ever a SOPA-ish law is passed in the Philippines.

Also with their censorship, the blog loses its credibility for it validates their one-sidedness in issues.

        1. @A Fine Jologs

Here’s my belief on this. Censorship is when you clearly prevent something from appearing in general (no excuses, no lapses and it really won’t appear anywhere). So they do not censor contradicting view, but just wish us to apply ourselves with following the rules.

Second, although the internet is free (kind of like the world), everyone has somehow established their domain on it (like countries/cities or what have you). These domains have their own set of rules that apply specifically for them, while other domains do not have the same set of rules/clearly do not have them at all.

Since we are in this specific domain, we are confined to adhere by the rules but are not being censored in expressing our view.

I still think there is room for discussion and I can clearly see no one-sidedness in “this domain”.

          Anyway, cheers!

And I do wish I did not offend you in any way in our dialogues.

  5. so it’s okay to post your non-agreement to a post on his blog but when others disagree with your post you get so high handed in your reply and start name calling…why bother posting if you don’t like to be answered back..ikaw na..

    1. @Joshua R
I actually do encourage to be “answered back” and I am not against it. WHAT I AM AGAINST is the admin’s DELETION of a comment I made. Anyone could say anything against me and I will reply. BUT THE ADMINS SHOULD NOT DELETE COMMENTS for as long as they are not libelous!

Joshua R, I suggest you read my comments first before making such unintelligent assertions!

      1. @A Fine Jologs

Hi! Can I just request for a restart to lower the heightening of emotion.

Okay, here goes.. I did not specific comment on this article, as this was (for me) a humor me article. Something than is not really that relevant but something that is being discussed just because some/a lot have thought it was worthy of discussion.

Doesn’t change my overall view of GRP, but hey, doesn’t change their rules as well.

I do not think/believe you are any way like Vincenzo and we can have a mature discussion of contradicting views. Let’s just take a step back, and observe the rules.

        Cheers!

        1. @Sphynx

Again, thank you. I do not know who that Vincenzo is, but I came to this blog to warn people not to be bedazzled by a beauty of one’s person and mistake it as being “classy”. The comment which actually ignited the hearts of the fans of this blog is as follows:

“Hmmm… someone has to get off his (imaginary) high horse here. I’m just warning everyone here that not everything that glitters is gold. Be very cautious for what you might be opening is a can of worms.”

Several people have made their comments, and in reply to one of those, I said:

“@Felipe (aka Benigno, the author of this unrealistic, pretentious, and run-off-the-mill blog)

Obviously, you are a one-sided prick and your faux intellect need not be elaborated so as not to further shame yourself.”

Apparently, admin ILDA deleted the comment had to “go to the spam folder because it contain(ed) [sic] tacky foul language”

I told her that she might want to be accurate with her explanation for I did not see anything wrong with what I said. I am of the view that I was merely expressing my distraught and frustration with this article, which anyone can do especially this is in the Internet.

          Cheers!

        2. @A Fine Jologs

Well, I still see the first comment which had a discussion. But yes, the next one you made does not appear.

However, it was (for me) on name calling and trying to degrade our “host” which of course would be found offensive (instead of a simple contradictory view).

Anyway, this article, is just a “Breath of fresh air” thing for me. Something that is less serious and related to but does not adversely affect a serious matter which is the impeachment trial.

This article (for me) is a light hearted one which just ended with a reminder of what the author thinks of the whole impeachment thing as a closing remark. =)

          Cheers!

        3. @Sphynx

But did you notice the comment of Parallax referring to me as “another ad hominem spewing idiot”, to which ILDA did not delete? Do you see the BIAS of the admins now?

Anyway, much of time has been consumed by this blog and I do think that this will be my last comment on this issue (and this blog too). It was a pleasure to have exchanged thoughts with you, Sphynx! Thank you!

        4. @a fine jologs:

          bias bias ka pa dyan.

just accurately describing the emo way you were behaving, AFJ.

what, are you gonna cry now?

speak like an adult and you will be spoken to like an adult.
otherwise, keep spewing baseless and logic-free (seriously, pal, you cannot use what you do not have) rubbish and see how far that will get you. (sorry, i’m not as patient with emos as sphynx is.)

      2. i do read all the comments before i make any comment just to make sure i don’t put my foot in my mouth…and does a comment have to be libelous to be deleted? and you just made my point of your being onion skinned…wouldn’t it have been more magnanimous of you to have just said before making assertions rather than putting an adjective in front of it? you don’t know me from adam and you have the gall to call me unintelligent? ikaw na talaga, promise

        1. Then what’s this comment, auriga”

          “@A Fine Jologs

          You tell me.”

Where you talking to me or was it you just being schizophrenic?

        2. Hindi ko naman tinangging epal ako, diba? Mabuti nang “epal” kaysa sa isang binubulag ng kanyang mga damdamin. Oops, di ko sinasabing ikaw yon! 😛

But since you failed to understand what I did there let me break it down for you.

          I first quoted Sphynx:

“Besides, you are not the only poster here who might have a contradicting view to the bloggers/admin here and I do see the posts of those persons.”

And then I said “THIS.” I guess it’s my fault for assuming you know internet speak, but this was what I meant.

Point is you’re not the first and only dissenting voice in this blog. We regulars (if I can consider myself a “regular”) here can readily point you towards other articles with far more disagreeing opinions. Their posts are there for the entire world to see. In other words, your argument that the admins are censuring dissenting opinions is INVALID.

So your comment got deleted yet theirs didn’t; I wonder why…

        3. Thank you for your enlightenment as obviously, this is my first time to take part in a discussion in a blog. And in all honesty, I LMAO when I finally knew what “This.” meant.

Anyway, I think my comment was deleted because it directly attacks the foundations that support this blog–that is, the supposed intelligence of the admins. Like I’ve said in my previous comments, I do not think that is violative in any way since the admins themselves attack on the intelligence of other people. In so doing, they have made themselves vulnerable to comments of similar nature.

          Thank you!

  6. @Sphynx

However, did you notice the comment of Parallax referring to me as “another ad hominem spewing idiot”, to which admin Ilda DID NO delete? Do you see the BIAS of the admins now? 🙂

Anyway, much of time has been consumed by this blog and I do think that this will be my last comment on this issue (and this blog too). It was a pleasure to have exchanged thoughts with you, Sphynx! Thank you!

PS: You might want to set-up your own blog for you are the only the level-headed person I spoke to here. I will not be wasting my time on GRP anymore. Thank you!

      1. @Parallax

Oh wait, I think I forgot something. Oh my, I think it’s Parallax face sticking under my shoe! Ohhhh cat crap really sticks like hell!

        1. still here? we thought you decided to run away crying to mommy.

that must be the most pathetic comeback i’ve seen in years.

tough having hormones flip like switches eh?

        2. So did you really think I’ll let you off that easily? (HAHAHA!)

And why are you still awake at this time of the night? You’re probably waiting for your “friends” to AFFIRM your judgment. Awwww poor little Parallax. 🙁

        3. “And why are you still awake at this time of the night?”

right back at ya. (of course this expression might fly over your head to better google it.)

“You’re probably waiting for your “friends” to AFFIRM your judgment.”

sounds like something YOU do on a regular basis. typical.

if you wanna look clever, try harder, mmmkay? 😛

(about the link you posted, good luck. not interested.)

      2. @Parallax

Do I want to LOOK clever? So should I wear dark-rimmed glasses? Or should I probably carry some books around too so I could LOOK clever, right?

Ohhh wait, you probably meant, I wanted to SOUND clever?

Those are two different things, but for the average person like you, hmmm, let’s just say that you are more careless with words.

So what were you saying again, “if you wanna look clever, try harder, mmmkay”

Well, right back at ya! 🙂 (Without the stupid “look clever” part!

        1. @Parallax

Obviously, this discussion has been watered down by your unintelligent assertions.

If you don’t get it, I am trying to stoop down to your level of intelligence, because apparently, that is the only way to talk to you. 🙂

        2. @afv: well gee whiz, einstein. like your attacking the authors of this blog didn’t do what you say i did.

para kang so pnoy. blame everyone else but yourself.

dali hirit pa. your cover’s blown. all comments are timestamped anyway. let’s see who did what.

        1. i’m not. i just slap some sense into hysterical emos like you.

why do YOU keep coming back? ah wait. validation nga pala. let’s not forget.

          sige, keep trying.

        2. And by the way, I think not only is the time of my comments “stamped” on this blog, the existence of “A Fine Jologs” or “AFJ”, as my closeted fan Parallax succinctly puts it, is already imprinted to every reader of this blog. 🙂 Thank you, Parallax! 🙂

        3. @Parallax

The mere fact that you reply to every comment I make just makes me so happy. Thank you for your attention. 🙂 Maybe your being a fan of my words of wisdom has already made you infatuated with me. I don’t mind at all. 🙂

        4. see, folks?

clearly this afj person is deluded enough to see a fan in me in the same fashion pinoy bandies about “pinoy pride” – which is basically pride in nothing.

quite an example of how da pinoy is in dire and constant need of VALIDATION.

afj here, hysterical or otherwise, is no different. let’s wish him good luck and kung hei fat choi (because that’s all he will ever get).

        5. “see, folks” >>> NOW WHO NEEDS VALIDATION? Trolololol!

Whatever Parallax, together with the pretentious and arrogant authors of this blog, you are the biggest hypocrite I have ever met!

          HAHAHAHA! Whatevs.

        6. oh my. you don’t even know what validation means pala.

          never mind.

you like to use words you don’t even know.

          validation daw. woo hoo!!! 😛

          more replies, more ammo.

          try harder, kid.

        7. Whatevs. HAHAHAH!

“See, folks?” is not a form of validation??? ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME? (Can I just emphasize the “folks” part with the corresponding “?”)

Who are you talking to, Parallax? OMG, you are not just a HYPOCRITE but you really are–and may I say this in this simple and uncomplicated language–STUPID!

          Trololol.

        8. And my goodness, can I just say that you even have the audacity to comment about Pinoys being “in dire and constant need of” validation.

YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY shaming Filipinos with your NON-SEQUITUR argument!!! You are such a disgrace to you race, if ever you even consider yourself a Filipino!

OMG. Just plain HYPOCRISY and STUPIDITY at its finest. 🙂

        9. you’ve just effectively demostrated that you don’t know the difference between seeking validation and having you tarred and feathered.

congratulations, you’re the dunce of the week!

took you long enough to reply, since you had to google it before you could come up with (once again) another pathetic comeback.

it’s almost unfair that we are engaged in a battle of wits for which you are unarmed.

oh, btw, before you call people hypocrites, you’re the one who said you’re leaving and didn’t. what a simpleton.

(i hope the caps lock are helping to soothe you. haha)

          try harder.

        10. what, can’t stand BEING an example of da pinoy’s constant dire need for validation?

too late. you’re still here trying to look este SOUND clever. fail.

          try harder, kid.

        11. @Parallax

OKAY, now make a fool out of yourself by trying to defend your HYPOCRISY and STUPIDITY!

I am sure that you are trying to sandwich and cover-up your STUPID comments with ANOTHER! Damn! Why don’t you just admit that you really need validation from your “folks”?

          Trololol!!!

And you haven’t even answered my comment on your HASTY GENERALIZATION about FILIPINOS being “in dire and constant need” of validation! Such a shame, Parallax.

        12. i wonder where it says “if told to try harder, press caps lock and repeat same inanity.”

is that the best you could come up with? calling people stupid and hypocritical? you’re soooo pinoy.

          typical.

          try harder, kid.

        13. @Parallax

Is that how you do it, Google things first? Well, I do not see anything wrong with that, if that’s what you do, NOT UNLESS you are an effing hypocrite and KNOW-IT-ALL that you consider yourself GOOGLE!

        14. @Parallax

I am so Pinoy? YES I AM! And damn proud of my race!

YOU BETTER GET REAL, BOY! Obviously, together with your cohorts in this pretentious, unrealistic, and run-off-the-mill blog, you are all A SHAME TO THE PHILIPPINES!

          GET REAL!

        15. would really be nice if that last one had a point, but alas, nothing.

just you on a tililing rampage because you couldn’t stand being the poster boy for da pinoy’s dire and constant need for validation.

          try harder.

        16. and here’s a newsflash for you:

there’s no such thing as a filipino race, einstein.

          what a dunce.

        17. Excuse me Parallax, aka the guy who doesn’t consider “see folks?” as a form of validation, aren’t you the one who needs validation? Don’t be ashamed if you really do need validation, I’ll understand because it would take millions of Parallax to topple A Fine Jologs. 🙂

        18. @Parallax

Are you running out of words? So you do need to Google now, huh? Don’t worry, I understand. 🙂 I’m not a know-it-all and hypocrite.

        19. your delusion is confirmed many times over, afj. good luck with believing your own fantasy. intellectual stunting usually happens that way.

if you’re too dimwitted to know the most basic difference between seeking validation (which you do but won’t admit so you just accuse me of it to divert attention) and having you publicly tarred and feathered (quick, google it and check what it means to be “tarred and feathered” so that you won’t look “stupid” like you keep saying), there’s no use explaining to you.

so typical da pinoy ka talaga.

don’t worry. as many times you say i’m this and that is as many times your idiocy is documented. hanggang dyan lang naman kaya mo eh.

i’d ask you to try harder, but you fail every time.

        20. Uhm, good attempt BUT NO, it doesn’t invalidate your outright HYPROCRISY and STUPIDITY.

By the way, since both of our comments have already watered down my initial comment I will put everything into place whit this new comment.

I never said that Karen Jimeno is a bad person. I am actually infuriated with how this article is written, especially with phrases like “This well-bred class stands in stark contrast to the inbred crass of Philippine media”, etc. It shows the outright HYPOCRISY of the authors in their being fanboys and fangirls of a lawyer, who just appears to be artistahin. Apparently, this delusional view that BEAUTY translates to CLASS is what I deem to be one of ills of our society (e.q. people voting for artistas just for their popularity or good looks)

Let me once again quote my initial comment for the sake of the new readers here:

“Hmmm… someone has to get off his (imaginary) high horse here. I’m just warning everyone here that not everything that glitters is gold. Be very cautious for what you might be opening is a can of worms.”

Apparently, this comment was not received well by most of the readers of this blog. And a new comment I posted was eventually deleted by admin ILDA, whom I now know, is already notorious in another blog for her bias and unresearched articles. (see: http://criticafterdark.blogspot.com/2012/01/get-real-get-real-philippines.html)

Anyway, from how Benign0 and ILDA have replied to me, all my views about this blog are confirmed:

First, the authors of this blog are part of a class of FILIPINOS who are intellectual snobs: people who think they are better than other Filipinos when in fact, they are out-of-touch of reality, AND NO BETTER than them.

Second, no amount of explanation will ever permeate their already thick skulls to make them think otherwise of their stand. Their mind is already dead set that the Philippines is in a dire condition, and apparently, their solution is the only solution for the betterment of this country!

        21. nope, sorry but capitalizing what you say or adding exclamation points don’t make them true or impactful.

they only make you look este sound desperate. and it’s obvious.

repeating the pointless drivel and obvious attacks towards the blog entitles those who run the blog to any way they want to deal with you, the hysterical emo visitor.

and right now you’re just spamming the site with the same link, so good luck with that.

and get this through your thick skull for which there seems to be no actual space for grey matter: shed the faux righteousness and go back to school where they teach people not to depend on google so much.

          mmmkay?

        22. To the authors of this blog (and for my dear fan, Parallax):

You have named this blog “Get Real Philippines”. The call to “Get Real” DOES NOT exclude you since you are ALSO part of the Philippines. Do not be such intellectual snobs and hypocrites! You are in no better position than other Filipinos! The name of your blog already connotes that you are in a higher disposition than most Filipinos, so do understand my criticism.

I know this is cliche, but you have to practice what you preach! You also result to name-calling in your articles so do not be surprised if “commentors” like me post comments which are already repulsive in nature. I wouldn’t have uttered my initial comment if it weren’t for the hostile environment of your blog, plus the hostile comments of Parallax, whom I am of the view, I have bruised his ego.

Again, please do not think that you are better than other Filipinos! Be sensitive about your articles, especially to those sectors whom you belittle for your betterment. Always remember, there is “A Fine Jologs” out there, who might even be better than you, but nonetheless may not have the time to defend himself or herself from your tirades!

GET REAL, Get Real Philippines blog!

        23. @AFJ, I’ve deleted copies of the above comment of yours which you’ve re-posted at least five times repeatedly. So if you find your future posts getting automatically moved to the Spam queue, tough luck. That’s what you get for being a spammer. 😀 Take note, the database of the spam filtering system of this site is also used by other blogs, so you may also end up being filtered when commenting on other blogs.

        24. and you’re just about as hypocritical as it gets, afj.

good luck monologuing. i am in need of z’s now and have no interest in giving up sleep for your repetitive nonsense.

someday you might grow an iq as high as your shoe size. don’t stop believin’ mmmkay?

          kung hei fat choi, pbrain.

        25. Well, another hypocrisy on your part. Obviously I already made you sleepless for the past few hours. Trololol. Oh well, you can never really change a person overnight.

If I’m a peabrain then what do you call yours? Air?

        26. @afj, kawawa ka naman. You’ve written so much yet nowhere in what you write can we find a counter-proposal to any of the ideas articulated in this fine specimen of a blog. All you have presented so far is some quaint foot-stomping and laughable indignation over what you perceive to be “unfair” assertions. 😀

        27. He can’t even explain why he keeps referring to us as “intellectual snobs”. It’s probably because the articles are beyond his comprehesion skills. 🙂

        28. is that the best you could come up with, afj? nothing new or with actual substance? just making fun of someone’s surname? that’s phenomenally pathetic, which you seem to have a knack for.

          try harder, desperate troll.

pretending like you don’t mind being straightened out and repeating it over and over makes your dire and constant need for validation markedly obvious.

deep inside you’re incredibly pissed (and doing a poor job at pretending you’re not) you couldn’t bring ANYTHING hard-hitting to the table, aren’t you?

how do we all know? simple: you keep coming back.

don’t worry, there are millions of non-thinking da pinoys out there just like you with a spectacular sense of entitlement and nothing to show for it.

and you’re obviously going to come back assuming a “different” identity and trolling the place because you can’t stand being tarred and feathered without having the last word – repeatedly, and consistently – just for being ignorantly arrogant (or perhaps arrogantly ignorant).

good luck to your employer in keeping the company afloat while your mediocre bum is on the payroll. someday when you find yourself jobless you might consider this “idiotic” thing called blogging a viable way to put some instant noodles on the table, just like vincenzo’s getting for his moronic yellow drivel. one post, one noodle.

hysterical emos like you have a special place in my heart of hearts. so please, come back anytime, from one visitor to another. 😛

    1. @ A Fine Jologs,

Why don’t you stick around? I myself have some contrarian views vis-a-vis most of the hangers-on, but I don’t get bullied here.

Eventually, you will appreciate The World According to Benign0 (aka Political Jologsgraphy).

Don’t let the term ‘jologsry’ get your goat. I believe he previously called ABS-CBN et al ‘jologsnalism’ and referred to Ellen T’s blog as Jologsville.

      It’s more fun here. 😉

  7. a comment if i may:

i make it a point to make a comment on the article and the comments made about the content of the article, not its writer, not the blog, not the personal biases of the author, not his intelligence, his “classiness”, his sexual preference, his age, etc..in other words, i am an equal opportunity commenter, hence my disdain for others who resort to attack the personality rather than the subject of a post, name calling and downright rudeness should be censured for it does not lead to meaningful discussion as this case in point, in one word like what sphynx said, everybody CHILL…keep the free flow of communication going..maayong gabii kaninyong tanan..

    1. Let me guess, you are one of the hounds of the indie filmmakers who were offended by the article about Filipino films. Don’t tell me you haven’t moved on?!? OMG!

  8. @Benigno & Ilda

Why don’t you find yourselves REAL jobs? Or is it only in this kind of field where ***** get hired? Well, I’m not surprised since after all, it’s a “Dum-dum” who founded GRP.

    Trololol!

And oh wait, you are right, I stand corrected in calling you “intellectual snobs”. I guess I failed to understand what “intellectual” truly meant by using it to describe people like you. Such a disgrace to that person who coined that term, that not even “pseudo intellectual” would be apt to describe people like you. It’s just really hard to place “GRP” and “intellectual” in one room. Sorry, if I failed to realize that, Ilda. 🙂

Anyway, I am sure that this post will eventually get censored. That for me, is a sign of success. 🙂
You know in your hearts of hearts that you are censuring me because you are offended with the truth that I’m saying.

    Admit it. 🙂

This will definitely be my last post since apparently, the modus operandi of this site is just to piss of people to garner traffic to this puny blogsite.

And also, I have a REAL job tomorrow.

So, enjoy! I’m sure my posts here increased your IQ levels to soaring heights, especially to Benigno who has no creativity at all in crafting a name for himself other than to copy his idol’s name, PNoy. 🙂

    1. @A fine (not really) Jologs

I wrote about commenters like you in my previous article:

“As a blogger, I quite often come across commentators who cannot even follow simple commenting guidelines. There are some participants in the blogosphere who constantly violate the guidelines by consistently writing obscenities and foul language on forums just to give the impression that they are above the guidelines. The funny thing is, being moderated does not even stop them from misbehaving. They even cry foul for being moderated instead of conforming to the guidelines.

This brings us to another world-renowned Filipino mentality — the “victim” mentality. Filipinos are good at playing the “victim card” because they are very sensitive and emotional people. They play the victim card in front of the public to get as much attention as possible. Filipinos always try to get around following any rules and regulations or even simple guidelines by appealing to emotion.

It is quite interesting to note that some Filipinos would rather act like idiots than follow the rules. They always want to find an easy way out of a situation. They want to make uncomplicated things complicated. This brings us to another world-renowned Filipino trait: “lack of discipline.”

Please read more: Filipinos cannot progress if they cannot follow even simple guidelines 😉

    2. since you’re a habitual spammer and double-poster, please kindly refer to this as my reply to your double post:

      http://getrealphilippines.com/2012/01/karen-jimeno-the-classy-face-of-coronas-legal-team/comment-page-1/#comment-20370

i know you’re a glutton for humiliation so please, derive as much pleasure from this “job” you speak of so that you’ll be ready for another round of being tarred and feathered.

you can tell us how many noodles you’re able to earn when you receive your pay, mmkay pumpkin?

      1. Looks like this “a fine jerk” is some kind of masochistic FREAK since he keeps coming back just to get humiliated again and again.
Keep up the good work Parallax,
that jerk really deserves to be humiliated again and again and again.

        1. it’s like a losing streak at a casino. sooner or later you’ll be betting your car, your house, your wife, your kids’ future, your dignity. and that’s exactly what these emo dullards do at the drop of a hat. might as well help them dig a deeper grave for themselves.

  9. Hey all of you intelligent people! Get a life!!!
Classy, not-classy? Then you think can define how good or bad a person is because of what you think is class or not? (nothing against Atty Karen) but I am against most of you (i didn’t read all the comments) judging and stereotyping people that are class and not class and tagging them as worthy and not worthy. Yes defense team is classy and sounds and looks very intelligent, but it doesn’t mean they are wiser than all of the people in the courtroom (and it doesn’t mean they are standing for what is right as well), and Yes the prosecution needs practice, more studying (more studying before they even started this whole trial drama), but I believe it is wrong to judge them as well for being stupid because they are not classy (Although I also hate them being unprepared, feels like waste of time for the whole country).

Classy,, Kris A style,, not for me as well, I hate the way Kris talks and the way she does everything else, hehe, but I don’t judge people. People are people, and let’s not forget that because categorizing yourself as classy, intellectual and the rest of the people that are not classy like you are, are “Indios” (for lack of a better word) is maybe one of the many reasons why our country is still like this after our independence from the Spanish. Because we still have the classy intelligent conquistador judging everyone else that are not like them..

In short all of you!! Get a life! Get real! and be good.. Don’t be rude to people without class. It is not the measurement of who’s a better person.

This is not my real name, I just ended up here looking for a picture of the cute atty.

And I have shortage of very deep english terms you are using? How do you classify me? Jologs? hehe

    1. I think it’s YOU who should get a life because above all, you’re missing the point of this article.

In short, GET A LIFE. Your EMO is showing full force here and you’re not using your BRAINS.

    2. And what do you call PNoy’s tirades against Corona? It’s not even ‘classy’. Hey, are you the ones who have squatter mentality who loves to blame Gloria Arroyo of everything? Are you one of those idiots who are vilifying Corona, claiming that he steals money?

Get a life. You’re also rude because of your “guilty until proven innocent” minset. Such total HYPOCRISY.

    3. @julius karen, where are you when fariñas said impeachment complaint was badly written? Where are you when a Baguio rep said ON-AIR that he regretted signing the rushed impeachment complaint?

  10. Wahahahaha!!!!
    ROFLMAO!!
    Really!!?? I mean,, Seriously?
    Wahahahahaha!!

I agree that the impeachment complaint is sloppy..
I agree that defense team puts more dignity when they present themselves..

And I agree, up to some extent about this article,

I just don’t agree with you stereotyping!! Categorizing personality because of classiness..
    Oh wow!!

Now I understand why a lot of educated people that doesn’t use their brains very well other than making the point that are a better person are hated so much. That’s because of people like you..

    But hell!
    Wahehehehe,,

    Classy huh!! Sosyal!

I’m enjoy listening people think about themselves as superior! Wahehehehe,, makes me feel more I am blessed!!

    Last na to..
    Waheheheheheheheh!!!
