Is the Roman Catholic Church ‘full of shit’?

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte thinks so. Duterte railed against the hypocrisy of the Church in a speech he delivered Monday asserting, as a matter of fact, that the hallowed institution is full of the proverbial brown stuff.

Church officials have been vocal in condemning the extrajudicial killings that had attended the administration’s crackdown on the narcotics trade.

According to Mr. Duterte, he and the Catholic church officials have the same sin— that of womanizing. He noted that one bishop— Bishop Teodoro Bacani— had two wives like him.

But unlike the church leaders, he is not corrupt, he said.

He chided them for asking for a Pajero during the time of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

“Shouldn’t you be ashamed of yourselves? That’s so expensive and so many people have nothing to eat,” he said.

Is what Duterte says about the Church true?

First of all, Duterte ought to be given credit for issuing a less-than-polite statement about this much-feared institution. Filipino politicians have long applied disproportionate deference to the Philippines’ Roman Catholic Church and its cabal of officers comprising the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). This is because aside from dispensing spiritual services, the Church had also acted as the Philippines’ king-maker much the same was as it had done in medieval Europe using Sunday masses and other religious services to disseminate political propaganda.

Such has been polticians’ deference to the Church that much-needed population control measures including improved education surrounding reproductive health and support for couples seeking access to artificial contraceptives had remained blocked for decades. The resulting explosion in the population of the Philippines over the last half century has been blamed on this lack of proper legislation to support reproductive health and family planning.

Coming back to the question of how much of the brown matter is contained within the institution and its officers is in the abject inconsistency of the Church’s message. The Church sees itself as being aligned with the sentiments of progressives and liberals. But this contradicts the conservatism of its fundamental underpinning dogma. While liberals fancy themselves as open minded, inclusive, and non-judgmental about people’s chosen lifestyles, Church scripture and dogma is crystal clear on what is sin, who is a sinner, and the punitive action God delivers to the guilty.

As such, any effort of any sitting Church official — from lowly parish priests up to his holiness The Pope himself — to come across as hipster-like (going about bandying trendy new-age concepts of openness and libsplaining stuff to rednecks and probinsyanos) comes across as, well, full of shit.

I guess that answers the question then.

President Duterte doesn’t really come across as being full of shit when he asserts that the Catholic Church is full of shit.

It’s simple, really.

  1. I am not a avid admirer nor a devout follower of DU30 but what he says after the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy in the Philippines is exhilaratingly eye-opening to the great majority who closed their eyes long ago on the hypocrisy of the bishops and priests like Bacani.

DU30 maybe the modern day Pier Piper from Davao City but his guts is worth emulating and his balls really are wonderful to behold. lol

  2. A more cynical outlook would suppose Duterte learned from El Salvador; killing bishops whose only fault is speaking out against the excesses of the State only creates martyrs, as is the case with Bl. Oscar Romero. Far better to destroy their reputation in the public eye, thereby silencing the Church and paving the way for its subservience to the State.

    1. @Aegis-Judex I will be the first one to rally against DU30 if there is one bishop or priest killing on his orders. There is no point in killing bishops or priests because as of now they self destruct the more they meddle in the political affairs of the State.

I do not believe DU30 will not last long if he makes the fatal mistake on the WPS issue.

  3. The Priests, Bishops, etc…in the Roman Catholic Church is full of shit.

The Church is okay. It is the people running it, who are not. Womanizing, pedophilia, homosexuality, etc… are in the Roman Catholic Church.

Just look at how many homeless people, are sleeping around a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Quiapo. While the Bishop there; eat the best food; sleep in the best comfortable bed; and are served by servants.

“Feed the hungry.” “Cloth the naked”…etc… stated Jesus Christ. How many Priest are doing this ?

If you want to know how these Priests behaved. Just read the novel: “Noli Me Tangere” by Dr. Jose Rizal.

A Priest by the name of Padre Damaso, had a sexual relation, with a married woman. The woman’s husband was impotent. So, she went to pray in the Church of Padre Damaso. She became pregnant; a daughter was born, and was named: “Maria Clara”…they called it a miracle; the daughter was pretty, because , she was a Spanish mestiza. The priest produced a miracle by making the married woman pregnant and had a child.

Just look at the features of some Filipinos. Some are mestizos. It was because their Roman Catholic Priest, during Spanish times; can just make an Indio woman pregnant, without any consequences. They were the rulers …

Religions have no business in politics. They should concentrate in preaching their Church gospels !

  4. If I am to compare Pres. Digong to a fictional hero then he is the boy who managed to shout the emperor is naked as the power-that-be paraded himself to all and sundry shpwing off is latest garb. the gullible masses are duped by the pretenders of the Catholic heirarchy. When will they ever learn?

  5. Go go go Digong !

Mura pa more those super libog na bishops and priests !

Isa mo rin dating obispo ng Simbahan ng Antipolo. Damjng asawa’t anak. Libog niya di maubos ubos. lol

    1. There was a Pope, by the name of Pope Alexander, of the Borgia family in Italy; who had many wives, and many illegitimate children !

These so called: “Man of God”, are not infallible, as they claim to be…

Their libidos are repressed…the pressure is too much…it has to come out somewhere…

Maybe poking their noses in Philippine politics; is one of the ways, they vent their sexual frustrations !

  6. Shit is the tofu of cursing and can be molded to whichever condition President Rodrigo Roa Duterte desires. Hot as shit. Windy as shit. I myself was confounded as shit.

  7. Hey guys, what’s the name of a book that President Duterte had shown to it to the families of the Fallen 44, yesterday in which he’d even told to them that ex-Bishop Teodoro Bacani had 2 wives just like him & who’s the author of that book? I want to buy & read that, it looks like a modern day Noli Me Tangere but it’s based on a real investigation report & not a fictional novel. 🙂

  8. Cory gave the RCC hierarchy to much power as a gift for her sudden fortune in 1986.

  9. Reminds me of the film Spotlight which won the 2016 Oscars for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

The messages from that film waere clear and concise.

  10. Altar of secrets by Aries C. Rufo.

Sold out na kaagad! Malamang binili lahat ng mga kakusa ni Bishop Emeritus Bacani. Pero may mga book-alike na lumalabas. lol

  11. i’ve read the book “Altar of Secrets’ it’s not generally attacking the whole catholic church. it’s attacking the two priest, Yalung ang Bacani. analizing it, ‘satan living in the house of God’.

    1. ah that’s the name of the book where President Duterte had read it. Who wrote that book anyway? I’ll gonna buy & read that. 🙂

  12. Not only does Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte think so, many others and me myself do. The Roman Catholic Church was and still is FULL OF SHIT.

  13. EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS ? ? ?
the heathen RomanCatholicChurch pioneered in that business
when it sent countless people to their deaths during the Inquisition.
moreover, it stood silent during WW2 having full knowledge of what went inside Nazi death camps
    during the Holocaust.
