Aside from “Fnck you, Marcos!” do anti-Marcos “activists” have anything IMPORTANT to say?

Imperial Manila’s hipsters keep complaining that there was not enough effort to “educate” generations of Filipinos about the alleged “horrors” of “the Martial Law years”. Perhaps this is why it is seen to be an “in” thing amongst a small clique of shool kids to be seen on these anti-Marcos protest rallies of late. The thinking there, presumably, is that there is some sort of exclusiveness about being “in the know” about the “truth” about Martial Law.

If that is the case, and there is, indeed, some kind of trove of information about the Martial Law years that a small clique of hipsters are privy to, it certainly is not showing in the protest paraphernalia they have been bringing to their rallies.

Check out this one, for instance.

I mean, after reading that placard, does one come out of the experience being a bit more enlightened about the supposed “horrors” allegedly perpetrated by former President Ferdinand Marcos?

And what about the persistence of this bevy of “Not a hero” slogans? Last I recall, heroism was not in the case file the Marcos family used to get clearance from the Philippine Supreme Court to bury the former president at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

This is the whole trouble with delegating grownup “activism” to the kiddies. Rather than step up and be serious about expressing their grievances through the noble channel of street parliamentarianism and uphold Filipinos’ strong tradition of these ocho-ocho democratic exercises, these “millenials” have turned the “people power” narrative into a game befitting a schoolyard more than one fit to be hosted by the hallowed pavement of EDSA.

What is it exactly about the Marcos burial at the LNMB that remains relevant to the majority of Filipinos — including those who reside outside of Imperial Manila?

Until these hipster activists answer that important question, theirs will be a movement utterly removed from the realities ordinary Filipinos face day-to-day.

  1. When the conyo crowd does street activism – it’s just them patting themselves in the back – they can’t even effectively have other people empathize with their cause. But rather comes off as standoffish – their elitism still has that profound and queer way of making people deride their actions instead of joining their ranks. The effect? You still don’t get your message – and your grievance along with it – through other people’s heads. The result? Still a propaganda fail.

  2. The answer to the question may be implied in the BLOCKMARCOS campaign. As long as there is a Marcos threat to the losing jaundiced political party (plus other interests- shades of Marcos Sr. era for that matter), the sentiments won’t be allowed to die down.
Too bad for them, the counter movement does much more of the critical thinking and high-octane activism online. You can’t unexpose the lies and propaganda. All they can spew now are basura.

  3. “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan,” was to have been said by Rizal but he never said those lines nor did he wrote it. It’s another DECEPTION made by those who glorifies the “ilustrado” image of the elite and the oligarchies up to this day. The kabataan is just one of their minions being used in describing their version of Philippine history.

The youth must realize that life is not a bowl of memes, selfies and texting about their shallow understanding of life and struggles for truth.

The sages of old days were right, “The object in life is not to be on the side of majority but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.” – Marcus Aurelius

    1. To be in a party (majority, minority, tweedledum, tweedledee) is not a problem (or an insanity, as An Tun says) in itself — it’s when you’re a member of a party for no good reason of your own that things tend to go south.

  4. If I had kids and they would join these idiotic events and I’d see them on a picture like the one above, I’d beat the living daylights out of them so they know what real “Horror” means.

Spoiled, dumb fuckers, all of them.

Water canons and tear gas, that would be my answer.

      1. I wouldn’t want you to have kids.

Can’t have them be beaten half to death for having an opinion that ain’t your own and all that.

        1. If you did have a child I’d be so sorry for them. Imagine being only a few hours old and not being able to tell you if they want breast milk or canned baby milk. Since your child’s opinion is very important you won’t force something on them that might be counter to their opinion. So sad, carried in the womb for 9 months, died after birth because you won’t feed them.

  5. Just how much this Yellows poisoned the youth!!! They are teaching them hate rather than being reasonable and open minded.

  6. poor kids. all they know was a slogan/placard is worth more than a thousand bucks. what’s happening exactly the same they did to Marcos, same people. the mastermind is coaching and hiding and will come out if the long edsa is full.

  7. Because this yellowtards are ignorant and dumbdowned by Marcial Bonifacio MadPnoy kulangkulang99, these Dumbdown Yellow Oligarchs, should have read the Economic Hitmen of Marcos Destruction of the Philippines, book of EHM(John Perkins), for these reason, the Philippine History should be revised..Apo Lakay Marcos last words was these, “The Sun Will Rise Tomorrow, The Truth shall Set us free”

  8. Sometimes Failipinos can’t see the relevance of until they become dissatisfied with the country and realize that there must be more to life than protesting, buying and accumulating expensive ‘things’and being attractive to members of the opposite sex.

  9. Even as a bystander (I like the sentiment but hate getting into crowds — it’s a personal thing) I can think of this much:

    “Fuck dictatorship!” is unimportant now?

  10. More than 30 years of anti-Marcos propaganda and this is what w get. The girl in the picture looks like a history teacher from Ateneo. She even encourages her younger sister in high school to join the Anti-Marcos rally, or I may be mistaken.

  11. It is really sad that the only “education” these school kids get comes from a bevy of malicious and self-serving teachers (and parents.) Not even the internet provides that much information about Macoy, the truth of whom is relegated to few insignificant clauses and footnotes, if ever there are. Our history, unfortunately, has been rewritten to benefit the elites, propagating lies which these school kids believe as truth.

  12. Here are the statements from the NAZI Minister of Propaganda: Joseph Goebbels; who served under Nazi Fuhrer Adolf Hitler :

” A lie once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth”…

“There will come a day, when all the lies will collapse under their own weight; and the truth will again triumph”…

Lies have been told to us,
and the new generation of Filipinos, by the Aquino Cojuangco political axis. These YellowTards are trying to perpetuate these lies, by politicizing all branches of government.

The Bureau of Education; the Judiciary; the Roman Catholic Church; the mainstream media; etc…

Textbooks were written and used in public schools to promote the political agendas of the Aquino Cojuangco political axis. They featured themselves, heroes and saints, and savior of the Philippines.

In truth they are thieves, murderers, congenital liars and political opportunists…

The Aquino and the Cojuangcos made themselves: good people, heroes and saints. While they demonized the late Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, as bad; and not a war hero.

Brainwashing is done on our people, especially the young generation of Filipinos. The youth, are not taught, how to differentiate, between right and wrong. They are taught to hate !

This brainwashing tactic was done in NAZI Germany, thru the Hitler Youth.

Same brainwashing was done in Japan, before World War II. Teaching all Japanese, that Emperor Hirohito was their “living God”…

This was the reason there were “Kamikaze pilots” (suicide pilots), and Japanese soldiers, fighting to their death !

Brainwashing is done, on our times, by the radicals in the Islamic religion, that created the ISIS Caliphate. Now, we have ISIS suicide bomber and killer terrorists !

The Aquino Cojuangco political axis brainwashing must be stopped !

Remove all those political propaganda textbooks in schools. School are venues to get an education; not to be brainwashed to become a robot !

Let the Filipino youth be freed, to think, on their own !

  13. I WAS AFRAID THAT THESE YELLOW NOYTARD OLIGARCH PEOPLE WANT TO DIVIDE OUR COUNTRY AND FIGHT EACH OTHER, WHILE THESE BLOODY LIBERAL PARTY IS WATCHING WHILE THEY WERE SITTING PRETTY. IF THAT IS SO, IN ANY CASE, THERE WILL BE A BLOODY CIVIL WAR IN OUR COUNTRY.. BUT I AM SURE THE LIBERAL PARTY , WILL LOOSE EVERYTHING. BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE IS Against them.. IF THAT HAPPENS , THIS BLOODY IDIOT YELLOW OLIGARCH WILL ESCAPE FROM OUR COUNTRY.

    1. Nobody is going to take you seriously when you resort to labels and insults like that comment of yours.

      TROLLFAG. :^)
