Manny Pacquiao may be President of the Philippines someday!

So boxing champ Manny Pacquiao has reportedly revealed hints of plans to go for the Philippines’ highest office, admitting in an interview with the AFP in Macau yesterday that “he had considered the presidency of the 95 million-strong nation.”

When pressed on whether he had thought about shooting for the top job, the softly-spoken 34-year-old replied “Yes”.

Drawing parallels between his pugilism and politics careers, the former world champion in eight weight divisions said: “When I started boxing, of course I was planning, you know and thinking about getting to become a champion. So when I enter politics it’s the same thing.

“But, you know, it’s far away,” he said, adding: “It’s God’s will.”

We can look back to 2010 when in a stroke of brilliant prescient podcasting, American comedian Adam Carolla saw Pacquiao’s possible future as the Chief Executive of this sad nation — and copped some royal flak from Filipinos after he dissed them about their thin options as far as role models go…

“Here’s how you know when your country doesn’t have a lot going for it: When everything is about Manny Pacquiao.”

Noting that Pacquiao is the Philippines’ biggest celebrity and may be popular enough to be elected president, Carolla advised the Philippines to “Get a fu**ing life as a country.”

“Really?” Carolla asked incredulously. “You want some guy with brain damage running your country? Why don’t you get your s**t together?”

Not surprisingly, the backlash from the ‘Pinoy Pride’ community was as swift as the flight this snippet of satirical humour took over Filipinos’ pointed heads. 1. And david beckham is to be prime minister of UK, along with kim kardashian as president of US.

Brain dead pacquaio should stick to what he does best – gambling and cheating.

  2. It’s already bad as it is…abNoy is president di ba? With abNoy setting the standard, even a dog can run da pilipins. All the dog needs is a die-hard propaganda group, like abNoy’s, to force the weak masses to believe that da pilipins is improving.

  3. With the price of vote buying going down and with the billions of pesos & multi-millions in dollars that he is believed to be worth; Plus the “Juke box” mentality of tri-media as brainwashing machines, who knows? -dinggol.d~~~

  4. Yes, Carolla should have waited a little more..a president who is like sort of brain-dead came first…at least in Pacquiao’s case, he has a fight plan and he pursues it with precision. Need more proof? He is 8-division world champion and at a time best pound-for-pound best boxer! Anybody can beat that? As for politics, that remains to be seen.

  5. Sad to say that Manny Pacquiao changed his religion, that will be a big hidrance for him to win in any higher office on the next election, before he was my idol, but now,i don´t even happy that he won his last figth against Rios.
