Most Filipinos don’t realize the country is drifting into becoming a failed state. Corruption is perpetrated out in the open and perpetrated by lawmakers and government officials. We borrow to finance corruption which is estimated at 40% of the budget. That is the amount lost.
The new blood entering politics are the scions of political dynasties. They are the new hacenderos and, together with the oligarchs, control the political and economic environment of the country. In truth and in fact, corruption is the norm with them. It is a way of life. How then can we produce leaders with vision and genuine patriotism?
The leftist-liberal bourgeoisie presume to label themselves “the good”. Yet they are themselves part of the problem. The experiment with a Marcos comeback has failed miserably. Former President Rodrigo Duterte did well enough for six years. You can’t dismantle a broken system in one term. Not when you have to contend with the bureaucracy, the oligarchs and the political dynasties. Duterte’s leadership moderated the greed unlike what we’ve seen with the 2023 to the 2025 budget and what’s been proposed for 2026. This is why the disenchanted is up to 36%. This will grow more in the next three years.

2028 is a landmark election cycle. We will see if the Filipino voter has improved enough to make it about leaders who are qualified and competent as opposed to those who are in it for the theft of public funds and enriching themselves in power.
Realistically there isn’t much hope for the Philippines. We have wasted every opportunity that had come our way. What we need is a benevolent dictatorship or a pseudo-democracy like what Singapore and Vietnam have to fix the broken system. One apologist has even co-opted Apo Lakay’s a revolution from the center. Someone tell her that she doesn’t have the intellectual depth for that kind of mental exercise. She might break her brain in the process. Good luck to us, I guess. Our idea of success is putting one over our countrymen. Crab mentality. Just look at how many of the true patriots have been murdered by the false patriots.
The president with the best approval and trust ratings is now in detention at the Hague for doing what he promised Filipinos he would do, which is why he won the presidency. This isn’t ironic. It’s outright moronic. It shows what political rivals will go to to destroy their perceived enemies but the elected and appointed officials who steal billions and even trillions of pesos in public funds are still alive and avoid jail time.
The rallies over the weekend won’t achieve anything. They’re just for show. Nowadays it’s all about optics. Unfortunately optics doesn’t do much for a country that’s back to being the sick man of Asia and is basically on its way to becoming a failed state because it’s run like hell by its own citizens.
- Renovate or detonate? Can a profoundly-corrupt society like the Philippines be fixed without first killing it at its roots? - October 23, 2025
- All just optics: September 21 Luneta rally won’t deliver results — only dishonest optics - September 22, 2025
- Crooked budget process leads to crooked project bidding and is all run by crooked Filipino politicians - August 20, 2025
Filipinos will continue voting for the candidates which they believe will give them the biggest spanking. Tatay Marcos, tatay Duterte, Tatay Estrada and all the rough and tough tatays!
If you think the tatay in charge doesn’t spank hard enough, just to move in the west.
well, if you wanted white domination all along, you had your chance with the spaniards for 300 years.
and the americans for 40 years.
who would have guessed , manuel l. quezon was actually full of shit, right?
This archipelago should have never been brought together as a single sovereign state to begin with. Ivatan people might as well be a separate nationality from the Badjao. Quezon was a naive mestizo who thought a functional national identity could be forged just by compelling 7000 islands to speak the language of the capital.
Why is it that the “because…” part of the Quezon quote is always intentionally omitted? To suit an intended narrative?
“I would rather have a country run like hell by Filipinos than a country run like heaven by the Americans, because however a bad Filipino government might be, we can always change it.” — Manuel L. Quezon
Some people dream big while others, with their small minds, look to the past and wonder with their heritage of smallness.
I didn’t bother reading your article, but I highly doubt the Philippines will become a failed state. Despite I grew up hating the Philippines for the negative reasons, I’m still optimistic for our country’s progress. In my opinion, while some protesters became violent, the protest is a wake up call for the government to fix the corruption. In fact, it was President Bong Bong who exposed corrupt officials.
I’M NOT SURE WHETHER YOU WOULD AGREE WITH ME, SINCE YOU ARE ANTI-MARCOS, ANTI-AMERICA, PRO-DUTERTE, AND PRO-CHINA. But regardless, this will be my last comment here in Get Real Philippines, for all the negativities.
The entire blame of what made the Philippines as a failing sovereign state (by clearly having the Philippines’ sovereignty be surrendering to a corrupt imperialist colonialist George Soros, Alexander Soros, & Loida Nicholas-Lewis-funded Kangaroo Court institution [in a form of the ICC Kangaroo Court institution]) are all to be entirely pointed and blamed to the entire Axis of Woke SJW DEI Yellow-Pink Corrupt Elitist Oligarch Pro-Divorce Pro-Sogie Pro-Same-Sex Marriage Pro-Law and Order-breaking Advocating Criminal-allied Liberal Far-Leftist Red Communist Socialist hypocritical with double standards pathetic bastards, fools, morons, idiots, and c*******ing motherf***ing son of a b***hes as well as hypocritical pedophile priests and bishops of a hypocritical Catholic Church in the pathetic Woke SJW DEI s**thole motherf***ing Pro-Divorce Pro-Sogie Pro-Same-Sex Marriage Pro-Law and Order-breaking Advocating Criminal-allied Liberal Far-Leftist Red Communist Socialist moronic hypocritical political likes of the Philhealth-Scam Queen of Sen. that commie congressman who looks like a monkey
Ramon Ortoll is GRP’s version of Rigoberto Tiglao when it comes to the Marcos-Duterte rift. Both are all the way pro-Duterte, period… one-sided.
This article isn’t even actually about the September 21 Luneta rally, which is a mere incidental. It’s more about Ortoll’s rabid devotion to Duterte. And perhaps with benefits?
There are more of these types that he has written here before. All can easily be summed up:
Ahh, basta… ‘Duterte all Good and Marcos everything Bad’.
With a fist-bump salute, Heil Duterte!
Ramon Ortoll would rather slobber on tiny Communist Chinese cock than face reality. His writing style shows how barriotic he is.
This is a dumb article. Just focused on stupid leftist people that nobody cares about. The line “Duterte did well enough for six years” is also hilarious. Yeah… letting blatant stealing happen in the DPWH (and I am sure other agencies as well) is doing “well enough”……
Focus on the real issues.
Vince Dizon (who seems like a decent guy) is filing cases that won’t be prosecuted for years because of the Ombudsman system. Insane.
You have guilty people (the evidence is obvious) and nothing is going to happen for years.
If Marcos was a serious president who cared about the country (he doesn’t….) he would increase the funding for the Ombudsman system in the 2026 budget and clear all the cases. The funding in 2024 budget was 4.2 billion and they have 1000 employees. That needs to go to at least 20 billion and you need at least 5000 employees.
Duterte also did not clear the Ombudsman cases so he was not serious about fixing the country.
Neither did Pnoy.
The Ombudsman system may have flaws, but there are much bigger flaws when the system is so overloaded you can just openly steal and there is no penalty.
This article is stupid. Ramon Ortoll is saying that political dynasties are bad while praising Duterte. Duterte is also a part of a political dynasty and the Duterte family isn’t better than the rest of these dynasties.
Don’t waste your time on this. You did also commented once, and that’s it. Just move on. You’ll get nothing from this. I must admit, of all GRP’s bloggers, only Benign0, his wife, and the other few are the sanest. Otherwise, you’ll read nothing other than pessimistic posts.
naah… youre the stupid one
low life scum, making a living peddling false narratives for your political master.
who’s paying your bills? is it porky primo? your funding is sourced from stolen public money! have you no shame?
get the fuck outta here! get a real job!
megget don’t use ad hominem or personal insults in debates or arguments.
that is how you feed your family?
by peddling fake political narratives online, paid with stolen public funds?
you and your kind deserve every insult
just stop calling yourselves filipino citizens.
TO ALL POLITICAL TROLLS AND TROLL FARMERS ( you know who you are) :
what youre doing is not an homest way to make a living, as it is funded by money stolen from national coffers.
stop it, get a real job.
TO ALL POLITICIANS WHO EMPLOY TROLL FARMS :
i get it, you want to win. but if you do win, just make sure you GET THINGS DONE and not just sit there without any sense of purpose, other than to STEAL FROM THE NATIONAL COFFERS so you can win again.
if that is your life, stop it, get the fuck out, we dont need you fukkers and your nice suits and shiny shoes in government.
@megget Using ad hominem and personal insults in debate make you look stupid.
Duterte really? Vico Sotto and Benjamin Magalong persons better than Duterte, especially Magalong who’s leagues above all the Duterte family combined.
then VOTE for your sotto ang kamalong
why so scared of duterte?
whoever wins , wins.
vico “humberto” sotto , cant see how he’s not part of a political dynasty, but sure, seems decent enough.
he’s a smart guy, lets see if he gambles his young career and RUNS against duterte.
seems like you fags have run out of options (big laugh)
now your massive anti duterte gaslighting campaign, just a waste of time and resources.
wont work, people have already made up their minds.
if you just leave sara alone , let her make bigger unforced mistakes , let the magic run out…you might have a chance at getting back on top.
but nOoo! you fags jumped the gun with your and forced and bogus sara impeachment campaign.
FOOLS.
If the anti-political dynasty bill becomes a law, then Tito Sotto is the one who should resign and give way to Vico because he’s the undeserving to be official, it’s as easy as that.
Now, let me tell you this, but judging by your comments and insults, I don’t think you’re smart enough to understand, your low IQ antics show this:
Unlike Vico and Magalong, Sara Duterte DOES NOT promote government transparency. Her insistence on the needs for her confidential funds is an example: Another example is in the senate hearing about the book she wants to be published and distributed to the school children using gov’t money is also about her which means she wants to use gov’t money to promote her own image. That’s corruption. Also, while Magalong and Vico emphasized that people are not indebted to politicians, Sara feels the opposite. When Risa Hontiveros asked what that book is about, Sara just ranted and called her a traitor because her family helped her in political career and now she’s going against her (Sara).
Sara also made her mistakes when she publicly announced that she told a hitman that if she dies, he must kill BBM, Liza Marcos and Martin Romualdez. She even said “no joke” which gave her enemies more opportunities to attack her. Sara Duterte is not a leader and she’s not a tactician. She’s just a spoiled brat who gets angry if she doesn’t get what she wants.
sara sara sara
the more you say her name, the more she wins
2028 gonna be a landslide
Kulto na kulto ang dating!
i feel your pain
losing election after election…
you yellows should embrace duterte,
swallow your misplaced tagalog pride.
admit that a mere provinciano mayor has utterly destroyed all your manila prospects .
mar now spends tuesday mornings in his pyjamas, sucking his wife’s dick.
while dick el gordo gordon spends the same day trying to find his dick.
So megget, you still think Duterte is honorable despite lying to the people many times and the Discaya family also earning more wealth during his term? Like it or not, no Duterte can ever measure up to Vico Sotto and Benjamin Magalong in terms of honor, leadership and character and when it comes to Magalong, intelligence and competence. You can’t even mention his name to glorify Duterte because even Rodrigo Duterte cannot measure up to Magalong.
duterte duterte duterte.
you glorify duterte with every utterance of his glorious name.
glory be to duterte, the god of the filipino people.
embracing duterte wont kill you
many tagalogs have, they have swallowed their misplaced tagalog pride, recognizing a bisaya as far better at governance than their own.
follow the duterte way, get things fone, someday soon, the next duterte could come from the tagalog tribe, who knows?
Even I am a at least 10x better leader than Rodrigo and Sara Duterte will ever be.
whatever happened to “LeT LeNi LeAd”
you should promote her.
now, she cant lead a one eyed fucker to a blind man’s orgy, but she’ll do it if you ask.. she’s a tool
Why should I promote Leni? I’m better, smarter. more honorable and a better leader than Leni, BBM and Duterte combined, I am superior to them so their fans should idolize me instead of them.
because youre a complete moron?
LeT LenI LeAd…
how about chael dickno?
he’s a lawyer with a big heart and big teeth.
he can do the job, right?
he seems to want power bad – give him power!
hey bobby M
time to do the right and manly thing-

the old man is being illegally detained IN A FOREIGN LAND.
dont listen to crispy jesus, he is clearly playing a long game con…playing you for a fool. unless you are, a fool.
all you yellows who desire power :
face the duterte family fair and square in an actual election
sure , you can attempt to gaslight the people with your troll army, a waste of money if ypu ask me but its your (stolen) money noy mine
just one thing, if you do win, DO GET THINGS DONE dont just sit there with your private duran duran concerts.
you wanted to be president, NOW GET YOUR ASS to work.
of course, manliness may not be the top trait for bobby M…as evidenced by his wife making the family decisions, and one son in congress who may not have an actual dick.
but he can redeem himself ! do the right thing, dont listen to those fake friends and advisers, who only want to steal from the government behind your back!
dangerous moves, bobby M
you really think crispy jesus can protect you?
there will be rough times ahead, blood will be shed. violence in the streets.
it didnt have to be this way.
but hubris and greed greed greed , look where it got you bubby.
Appealing to conscience is hopelessly naive at this point. Religion has really taught people learned helplessness while liquor and substances are allowed to permeate the culture. The educated class has really failed this generation.
Besides the learned helplessness you mentioned, the Church and religious culture cultivating fatalism, “resilience” (i.e. shutting up and not complaining about one’s misery), toxic positivity (pretending that everything is alright, “matatapos din ‘to”), martyr complex and tolerating abusers had done a lot of damage to this people taking away any sense of agency and responsibility as well as not punishing wrongdoing. There’s some irony here that the more that religious social norms are enforced, the more that the people end up turning into vices and degeneracy. When the people are conditioned to think that there’s no hope for their future, that wrongdoers are either allowed to get off scot-free or everybody just forgives them and pretends nothing bad ever happened……it’s not a surprise that people turn more into sin to numb their pain and as a form of escapism.
A happy and functional nation does not normalize its people treating each other awfully while making them kowtow and defer to outsiders (whether it’s China in the Spratly Islands or that Russian vlogger and other Western male s3x tourists).
It’s almost as if we have never collectively recovered from the trauma of World War II and previous centuries of colonialism.
Why do Ph farmers have to bear the weight of this dysfunctional economy? When contradictions show, they carry the burden. WTF.
How do people maintain their billion peso lifestyles anyway. Just burn the whole damn thing.
The 2028 election will just set things in Filipino politics back to usual with the gullible populace worshipping one political dynasty versus another. The little culture war experiment by the Yellows and the Left started in 2016 has backfired as they naïvely clung into this romanticized image of the Filipino masses. A bunch of sheltered middle-class people and university academics could never fix this country’s dysfunctional, anti-intellectual, low IQ, narcissistic machismo culture by just fielding the “right candidates” as what they tried with Ocho Derecho in 2019 or Leni and Kiko in 2022.
For me personally, coming from an urban poor background, there is little incentive for me to stay any longer in this country let alone aspire to participate to fix the “democratic process,” when my own family and culture had dragged me down and I’ve experienced bullying and alienation growing up because of smart-shaming and ridicule over being introverted.
This country desperately needs intelligent and future-oriented people who can think in the long-term but its popular culture continuously puts them as the target of shame and envy. And then everyone gets shocked at the decades-long “brain drain” (really it’s also “character drain” and “moral drain”), the Philippines’ mean IQ dropping to 81, the lowest in Southeast Asia, reading comprehension hitting rock bottom, etc.
The Philippines is a sinking ship but its passengers keep puncturing its lifeboats.
you need vision and leadership, and you need to “trick” the masses to vote for you.
that is why you need duterte.
80% approval rating ! government workers on their toes , actually serving the people, for fear of being bitch-slapped ! politicians staying in line, for fear of being killed !
fear is good !
(the killings , or cullings as it were, of criminal, good for nothing genetic stock is a bonus )
but nooo… you sent him to die in a foreign jail.
the yellows and reds, doing the same things over and over again, yet expecting different results!
these fools need to embrace duterte, be more the leader like duterte.
start people at mayoral posts, get good results, build up your national profile…you cant just get a random fag from some NGO and expect him to win in the senate.
you wish to lead, yellows and reds? you cant just be the leader of a few angry students – you have to lead the stupid masses !
if you cant lead the masses, then just stop bitching, go home, eat rice, post a few selfies, go to bed.
the country is better off without you.
