Former Senator Leila de Lima must be getting a good taste of her foot now after she was forced to apologise to the Philippine Supreme Court after issuing unfounded statements regarding the its dismissal of the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte. It is, indeed, a rare treat to see a Yellowtard taking accountability for their action.
“Definitely, it is not my intention to falsely accuse the Supreme Court of not considering the side of the respondent House of Representatives. It is plainly evident in the decision, which I was able to read only after the release of my statement yesterday, that the House’s comments in the two impeachment petitions were indeed considered by the Court,” de Lima said.
“There is no excuse for this mistake, and I bear full responsibility for the same,” she added.
Then again this is not the first time de Lima disrespected the Philippines’ highest court.
Back in 2019, following a Supreme Court ruling upholding her arrest over drug charges and denying “with finality” her appeals to reconsider, de Lima reached out to the United States government to coerce the Philippine government into releasing her from detention, in effect, looking to a foreign power to usurp the authority of the Philippines’ highest court. An ABS-CBN at the time reported de Lima’s asserting that the “US gov’t recognizes her as clear victim of political persecution”.

A laudable apology, true, but one on the back of behaviour with many precedents. One wonders how supposedly seasoned lawyers and public servants like Leila de Lima continue to find themselves foot-in-mouth over the frailties in their ability to properly think things through before shooting off their trap.
Reflection is a skill “thought leaders” of the Yellowtard-Communist Axis badly need to acquire. They should seriously consider this if they aspire to be more competent politicians.
