Coronation of Mar Roxas as Datu of Lanao del Sur insults Filipino Muslims!

So Liberal Party presidential candidate Mar Roxas is now a “datu” of the sultanate of Lanao del Sur. According to the Inquirer report, “for now, he is happy to settle for the title of datu” even as he aims his sights for the top office of the land in Malacanang Palace at the heart of Imperial Manila which is no less than 1,500 kilometres north of Roxas’s new kingdom.

According to the Inquirer report;

[Roxas] was received warmly by the Lanao sultans, one of whom introduced him as the “incoming President of the Philippines.”

They hung a medallion of honor around his neck, conferred on him the Amai Pakpak Award—so named after a Maranao hero—and presented him with a plaque as an adopted son of Lanao.

This “warm” reception by sultanate elders notwithstanding, the sentiment coming from ordinary Filipino Muslims seems to be different. Jun Macarambon who, according to his Twitter profile is a “A Male #Bangsamoro, Activist, Blogger, Security, h4x0r, GNU/Linux and FOSS Evangelist, PC Enthusiast, Filmmaker” tweeted this morning saying “MAR ROXAS HONORARY TITLE DATU & SON OF LANAO DEL SUR AN INSULT TO MUSLIMS / BANGSAMORO”. Ms ‘Mindanaoan’, a noted Mindanao social media celebrity and Cagayan de Oro City resident who tweets as @mindanaoan, in turn, tweeted in response to Macarombon; “Bai, I read the posts from Filipino Muslims. Everyone’s pissed. I’m a bit worried…”

Indeed, there is much cause for Filipinos to be worried about this latest Mar Roxas shenanigan. The administration of Philippine President Benigno Simeon ‘BS’ Aquino III to which Roxas reported to as a Cabinet secretary is anything but mindful of, much less sympathetic to, Mindanao’s sultanates. As such, it is quite hypocritical for Roxas to be gushing about his new honourary title as datu of Lanao Del Sur today. The fact that Aquino and Roxas would endorse the preposterous idea of creating an “autonomous” Bangsamoro “nation” governed by, of all groups, the terrorist Moro Islamic Liberation Front is enough of a slap on the faces of the traditional rulers of Muslim Mindanao.

Back in 2013, a conflagration between Manila and Kuala Lumpur erupted when the late Sultan Jamalul Kiram III of Sulu asserted his claim to the territory of Sabah (currently recognised as a ‘state’ of the Federation of Malaysia) when his supporters undertook an incursion into and occupation of an area in Lahad Datu that lasted weeks. In response, Malacanang quickly sided with Malaysia and, in all ironies, called Kiram’s men “terrorists”. President BS Aquino also ordered the deployment of Philippine Navy assets to the area, not to resolve the crisis from the perspective of Filipino nationals but to protect the Malaysian coastline from further attacks from said Filipino nationals.

Such atrocious behaviour coming from a national government — siding with a belligerent foreign government and deploying military assets against its own citizens — is unparalleled in the annals of human history!

The gracious thing Roxas should have done was politely decline the “honour” of being crowned Datu of Lanao del Sur. He is, after all, a practicing (indeed, an outwardly prayerful) Roman Catholic. On that fact alone, he should have thought twice about acceding to this latest PR stunt. Evidently, he proved incapable of thinking beyond that and recalling the shameful way his government treated the Sultan of Sulu and the way it dealt directly with a known terrorist organisation rather than defer to Mindanao’s sultans for more sound guidance on Mindanao affairs.

  1. forget about mamasapano, forget about DAP, just distribute hacienda luisita to the farmers the real owner and just charge pnoy treason for giving part of the Philippines for his fellow terrorist.

    1. dap, I can blame Roxas and Aquino. With regards to mamapasano I blame the operational commanders. You would be signing a different toon Had the operation commander been more competent.

Carp, agrarian reform is a mistake. It encourages farmer not to save, not to do normal transactions but steal land and use the money of other people for personal use while they use their money for other things including vices. Essentially the end result of agrarian reform and carp, is businessmen would transfer to other businesses like retail(already happening), the farmers don’t know how to deal with middle men due to lack of education compared to the land owner.

In short, it is about greed of the farmer not The hacienderos. It is the modus operandi of the leftist communist from carp to Lina law to free condoms – right to Mismanage their money, blaming their government for mismanagement of their personal money, use and steal other people’s money to be used for all of these. Of course the marketing isn’t that way since you actually believe the propaganda that it is ok to steal from other people disguised as “rights”.

      1. I agree. Giving land to halfwit “farmers” (most of whom have never actually farmed anything in their lives) is literally casting pearls before swine.

If the government weren’t so irredeemably corrupt, I would suggest taking all disbursed land back under state ownership and then leasing it out to whoever can use it profitably for farming without trashing it.

  2. I find myself wishing that the padrino system will vote this basterd into power. Look… if this moron wins, we’re gonna have a revolution/civil war with all those rabid du30 fanboys and self-righteous activists and vigilantes screaming bloody murder (of democracy).
Well, if apathy doesnt get to them first though, but that’s just wishful thinking.

  3. The leadership of this republic of ours is not going to the dogs for it’s already with dogs of dirty politicking like this latest stunt of Mar! We only have ourselves to blame if we vote the Liberal Party candidates from the positions of President to the lowest barangay officer! This inertness is already symptomatic of things to come under a Liberal Party governance!

  4. Honoring Mar Roxas as “Datu” of Lanao del Sur, is like honoring the Traitor and Japanese Imperialists’ collaborator: Benigno Aquino, Sr., as a renowned Hero , during World War II.

I never thought the people of Lanao; honor , Thieves and Liars. The Islamic religion cuts the arms of Thieves…here in the Philippines: they honor Thieves.

Do you ever wonder , where the Typhoon Yolanda Relief Funds, that disappeared from the face of the Earth, will ever be found?

Mar Roxas has the Typhoon Yolanda Relief Funds in his custody.

  5. Failipino people love a hypocrite, the likes of Manuel “Mar” Araneta Roxas II, you know —— they recognize one of their own, and it always feels so good when someone gets caught with his pants down and his dick up and it isn’t you.

  6. The guy is not running to win. The guy is in the race to be able to pocket as much as he can money from the LP war chest and other political contributions. He knows he will lose so he is just allowing the LP machinery to make him, but his heart is not in that. If he wins? Well, it is a bonus.

The guy is not corrupt in the sense that he has no intention in getting rich via raiding the Treasury through kickbacks and whatnot. That is small time. Real money comes from behest loans, inside trading, smuggling, influence peddling, etc.– they are hard to prove as they don’t attack the national coffers directly, but that is where real deals occur. Cubao was in the doldrums until recently – heard they decided to developed it as a way to launder money. …The Lumad killings? Well, Mar’s cronies are interested in mining the area.

And, PNoy not corrupt? What is this I hear that Kris has been gifted a whole supermarket. Does she now own two or three Puregold outlets in QC as a gift by Lucio Co? Is this true or not? Is Co, one of the biggest smugglers, showing heartfelt gratitude? WB reports that smuggling is at unprecedented Trillion level.
