According to the moral framework of woke and leftist people, the “oppressed” are never guilty of any crime. Guilt is fixed on the “oppressors” and their descendants and is based on race and even one’s position in the economic order. This is in stark contrast to the Judeo-Christian tradition where rape and murder, for example, are bad no matter who commits them.
In a Sky News interview, Claire Lehmann, founder of Quilette magazine explains the thought processes of woke people and their “activist” mob and the selective nature of how they choose the enemies and allies of their “cause”.

The context of the discussion in this interview was the position former Australian of the Year Grace Tame takes on the matter of rape and murder perpetrated by Hamas terrorists in the 7th October 2023 massacre of innocent people in Israel. Following that, the United Nations ruled in 2024 that there are ‘reasonable grounds to believe’ Hamas committed sexual violence during October 7 attacks on Israel.
Tame, nonetheless dismissed those findings as mere “propaganda” and asserted that that these claims had already been “debunked”.
When asked whether she has condemned the sexual violence faced by Israeli women during the attack by Hamas on October 7th in 2023, Ms Tame said she would not entertain “any kind of propaganda.”
“Those things have been debunked … violence is happening on both sides. But this is not a fair fight. We’re not talking about two equal cohorts, even marginally,” she said.
It is evident that woke and leftist people are neurologically incapable of evaluating guilt outside of the frame of the “Oppresor” versus “Oppressed” narrative that frames all of their thinking. Tame, for example, qualifies rape reported in the 2023 Hamas massacre by stating that Hamas are the oppressed party here and, as such, the crimes they perpetrated against innocent people can be justifiably downplayed — certainly not an object of outrage at the sort of scale it would attract had it been perpetrated by Western European “colonisers”.
This accounts for the baffling inconsistency that is consistent across the leftist and woke ideological frame. In the case of the war between the US-Israeli alliance and the Islamic terrorist axis of Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, one just can’t account for how, between the free Western societies where rule of law prevails and tyrannical regimes where power is wielded arbitrarily, these people would rather side with the latter. It just shows just how ironically dogmatic and bigoted the woke camp is.
