Yet another “rally” is gonna happen this Sunday, the 21st of September which happens to be the anniversary of the declaration of martial law in 1972 by the late “dictator” former President Ferdinand E. Marcos. Except that this “rally” is not a commemoration of that event. It’s not even to call for an ouster of “the dictator’s son”, current President Bongbong Marcos Jr.
Organisers reportedly claim that the agenda of this “rally” is “to protest corruption in flood control projects”. Indeed, their top “thought leaders” now issue strong cautions against framing the agenda of this stunt around yet another extra-constitutional unseating of the Second Marcos Regime. Why? Well, because this ironic camp, the Yellowtard-Communist Axis, prefer the Lesser Evil they happen to align themselves with nowadays to the Greater Evil who might emerge from the ashes of such an ouster.

The Greater Evil here is, of course so we are told, Vice President Sara Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte who languishes in a trial conducted by the chi chi “International Criminal Court” halfway around the world. In the Philippines, after all, the national “debate” revolves around no more than the idea that…
The Evil I support is not as evil as the Evil YOU support.
A common position individuals take that, when taken together, puts a measure on the collective intellectual faculties of the Philippines’ politically passionate.
This kind of internal relativism in the manner with which Filipinos challenge one another traps them in a hopelessly circular thinking that dooms them to a never-ending hopping from one outrage fad to the next with no pathway forward in sight. Indeed, no surprise then that to the question “And then what?” asked following one “activist” circus and the next and the one after that ad infinitum, one will consistently get no more than the sound of heads being scratched.
And so, this is why Filipinos’ unique brand of institutionalised corruption will never be “solved”. As the eminent physicist Albert Einstein was said to have said, one cannot solve a problem using the same thinking that created it.
