Metro Manila is at a virtual standstill practically EVERYDAY thanks to congestion and traffic gridlock.
This is the accumulated outcome of DECADES of negligence and short-term mediocre thinking amongst city bureaucrats and national governments.
A big chunk of the problem has to do with privately-run public utility vehicles which employ thousands of Filipinos and are, as such, vast voter plantations that politicians cultivate and harvest every election year.
The problem of traffic congestion requires difficult but obvious solutions to be implemented and the political will to see these solutions through.
