Mar Roxas’ Funny Pre-Campaign Period Image Makeover

When Mar Roxas was officially endorsed by current Philippine president Benigno Simeon “BS” Aquino as the standard bearer of the Liberal Party, no doubt that Mar and his staff recognized that he needed to polish his image if he were to stand a chance of winning the national elections in 2016. A political analyst at the University of the Philippines has pointed this out as well.

Fellow GRP blogger Ilda has pointed out that Mar just does not have the “it” factor, a thing that will hook the emotional crowd to him. BS Aquino had the death of his mother to help him win the presidency; Mar does not have any recently dead relative whom he can use. Worse, if Noynoy Aquino were to die before the elections next year, I will guess that people would actually convince Kris Aquino to run, despite her current statement that she will not.

I will not aim to scrutinize whatever moves he and his supporters have done so far to help his image along. One such example would be Mar’s attendance at the Keri Beks 1st National Gay Congress, whatever that was.

Rather, I would like to point out just one thing I find really funny: that among the Noynoy supporters who insisted on supporting BS Aquino on the back of emotional appeal to the Aquino “legacy”, there are those who call the rest to support Mar because “he makes sense”.

Well, Mar will supposedly continue the Daang Matuwid (Straight Path) started by BS Aquino. That means he will most likely continue the script of blaming former president Gloria Arroyo and others for the country’s woes. That would also mean he will echo BS Aquino’s supremely idiotic line that traffic is a sign of a booming economy. That will especially mean that any help or assistance you may request from the national government is dependent on party lines.

All of the above is just a small sample of what it means to continue along the straight path. It is one that has led to perdition and is a path paved by getting rid of your political enemies, instead of winning them over and working with them to solve national issues.

That makes a lot of sense, indeed.

There’s only one catch: since when did Filipinos ever vote for someone because he/she supposedly made sense?

  1. Roxas proved his incompetence in the Yolanda Relief effort; and the Mamapasano Police massacre. He stated the Police massacre is a: “misencounter”…he does not even recognize the Heroism of those fallen 44 Policemen.

Roxas is the same as Aquino. He will endorse the BBL Law. That will give a portion of Mindanao to the MILF/ISIS/Al Queda; and will finance these terrorists with our tax money. He will continue with the DAP, PDAF, Pork Barrel Bribery, etc…more corruption to stay..

He will blame GMA, and previous Presidents for his incompetence. He cannot blame Aquino…
So, more of the same, if you vote for Roxas…

  2. So who you vote for.. Binay and who else ?Marcos? Maybe Ping Lacson… But the corrupts people do not like Ping Lacson. He is so straight he cannot be bought …he will not win with out financial support from the corrupt… Money talks in the Philippines . And who ever wins will join the corrupts . That’s the norm in the Philippines . Show goes on and on..do not sell your vote ,Be smart vote for the one who will share the wealth of the nation,,

  3. A strong man cannot help a weaker unless the weaker is willing to be helped, and even then the weak man must become strong of himself; he must, by his own efforts, develop the strength which he admires in another. None but himself can alter his condition.

  4. Well, take a look at this guy. Makes one wonder what people are thinking ? No brains, no looks, no charm and no wit…a total loser!
What can Filipino’s expect with guys like this running the country ?
