Noynoy Says To Shun “Ampaws”

An essential album in my collection is a Miles Davis recording called Kind of Blue. The opening track called  So What. Wikipedia tell me that it is ” one of the best known examples of modal jazz, set in the Dorian mode and consisting of 16 bars of D Dorian, followed by eight bars of E♭ Dorian and another eight of D Dorian”. I really have no idea what means. What I do know is that this album is still one of my all time favorites twenty two years after first hearing it. Rolling Stone Magazine  says that Miles turned “his back on standard chord progressions, and used modal scales as a starting point for composition and improvisation – breaking new ground with warmth, subtlety and understatement in the thick of hard bop.” The point is Miles dared to be different and put his stamp on music by creating something new.

It is because I enjoy albums like Kind of Blue, Bitches Brew and Filles de Kilimanjaro that I see shows like American Idol for what it is: a place where creativity is discouraged. I could care less about America Idol let alone the Israeli version of X Factor.  There is a simple reason. All the glitz and and hype associated with those shows do not make me forget that originality is not valued in shows like American Idol. You are there to please the crowd and the judges. You are not there to be original or creative. Yet all those songs were all known before many of the contestants were born. Their existence really has no bearing of the impact of these songs. American Idol type contestants just make me say “So What?”

Like I said in my very first contribution to GRP,  the awe filled reverence pinoys have for American Idol explains why a nimrod like Noynoy Aquino is a popular president or even just a president. He recently told the students of Hope Christian High School  to not pick an “ampaw” president in 2016 elections. Noynoy went on and painted the picture of the next president as trustworthy, competent and compassionate to people. If Noynoy wanted my respect for the first time he should have told the kids “in other words pick someone who is the complete opposite of the speaker in front of you at this moment.”

First of all, let’s call a spade a spade as Hector Gamboa would say. Noynoy was not voted in as president in 2010 because of demonstrated competence or trustworthiness as he puts it. He was voted in because his mom died. Which is a moronic reason to vote for somebody. Then again Pinoy elections are all about dancing girls, dancing candidates and winners who can rarely accomplish or articulate anything. I hate to break it to you but 2016 will just feature more of the same.

Without his last name, what do you have? Yet he says to look for substance?

Without his last name, what do you have? Yet he says to look for substance?

When I look back at Noynoy’s campaign in 2010 when he wasn’t avoiding debates he was reminding you who his parents were. Which was a monumental waste of time since back then that is really all we knew about Noynoy that he was PCOS. President Cory’s Only Son. He was fifty and even his own campaign did not bother to even fabricate achievements to emphasize during the rallies. Noynoy never talked about himself. Just talked about his parents as if they were the ones being elected. And in what passes for the mind of a Filipino voter, it made sense.

With all the problems of the Philippines is worrying about things said on social media a real priority of one with substance and integrity?

Noynoy telling people that he is the gold standard for others to try and live up to is nothing new.I said as much when I compared Noynoy to the Pharisee in the Gospel trying to inform God how good he was and how lucky God was to have such a faithful servant.

“Let me take a look at the first person. Has no flaws, thinks of himself as better than the rest and seems to be in a world of their own. My gosh, that resembles Benigno Simeon Aquino III. If I ever see an ounce of humility emanate out of Noynoy it will be the first ounce. But Philippines, really. What did you expect?? Here is a man who in 2010 during the his campaign rationalized that being president of the Philippines was his destiny. Does that speak of humility to you?”

Noynoy Aquino sure talked tough when Yolanda approached. He said the country was prepared. He talked about zero casualties.  He tried to low ball the casualty rate at 2500 in CNN.  He then fires Police Officer Elmer Soria for giving an estimate of 10,000. Well as of last month the count is still rising over the 6200 mark with newly discovered bodies. Noynoy himself tries to justify a low body count by discussing some fictional method of tallying the dead involving coroners. Note there are no coroners in the Philippines. Noynoy’s method seems to be talk tough then run for the hills when the fit hits the shan.  Yeah I would trust a bozo like that.

This is what Noynoy means by making sense when delivering speeches.

If Noynoy sees himself as competent then maybe somebody forgot to tell Senator Sergio Osmeña III who described B.S. Aquino as an “awful and poor manager” . Hardly an endorsement of competence. If this is is how an ally treats him I would hate to see what his adversaries think of the president.

The problem with the guy is deep down inside he knows that he has done nothing in his life yet he finds himself as president of a nation. He has to prove he belongs. Or at the very least convince himself he belongs. Despite having a resume more lackluster than the Chicago Cubs. Hence his over dependence on symbols  and this imagined glorious past that he had nothing to do with. Noynoy says not to vote for “ampaw” candidates yet his career has as much substance as cotton candy. He is so presumptive about his place in history when his own history was not fit to stress in his own campaign.

But now there's nowhere to hide, since you pushed my love aside I'm out of my head, Hopelessly Devoted To You

Despite the obvious contradictions he will always have his Black Nazarene like devotees. GRP and others can make all the sense in the world and they will still say “So What!” Since there is no getting rid of them, I composed a prayer they can use to/ for their yellow “god” who says not to vote for “ampaws”. A man who truly is all icing and no cake.

  1. AMPAW clearly point to himself so why call him His Excellence if he is not? PNoy have shown indications of his incompetence @start of his term (Manila Bus Tragedy). Every year PNoy administration is always struggling to cope with problems of Natural Disasters (Sendong, Pablo, Yolanda).Incompetence will continue & spread up to his successor because PNoy now has majority control of our Congress (Senators/Congressman), Supreme Court, Comelec, Media, etc.) and survey firm.

Why Philippines have Incompetent & Corrupt Leaders?

    1. Leaders nowadays only need to portray an image of being good or clean (Facade only). To be President, you need to be an opposition & always accuse your predecessor as being corrupt/bad to gain people support and stay in position/power.

    2. Religion also has a tendency to spoil Leaders or Role models in many ways – relying purely on God”s blessing. Hence, an easy life results to false public service due to no effort/work = Lazy & Idle Mind (incompetence : lack if vision/poor logic/no-sense of observation/lack of imagination & creativity). Anti-intellectual Attitude is a road block to the progress of our Nation.

    3. In a Goon (Mafia) Society like the Philippines – people will simply group together to gain majority, to rule over minority and abuse that power. Thus, people (including Leaders) simply join a Group for protection, to be stronger and to be spoiled in many ways = lazy & idle mind or anti-intellectual attitude (incompetence). If you are unique in such a way (intellectually-superior for example) people will ostracize and criticize you because you are not “one of them” no matter how truthful/nice and how much contribution one can do for our profession or society.
The Goon concept applies to Religions, Politics/Government, Media, Showbiz, Sports, public or private sectors. And conflicts will happen if the common interest of a certain group clashes with another group.

    4. Majority of our President/Leaders (in Government or Congress) are ff.: a. Lawyers-whose nature of work are disputes of legal matters (negative).
    b. Popular Actors/celebrity – whose nature of work is movies/TV/media.

We need Leaders from other professions like the ff.:
    a. Architects/Engineers – whose nature of is to Create/Build (positive)
    b. Doctors – (Dr. Mahathir) who cured & made Malaysia a very healthy (wealthy) nation.

5, Corruption in my definition is the product of an IDLE or LAZY Mind, selfishness/greed and materialism because corrupt people/Leaders do not realize the consequence of pocketing public funds or receiving bribes. Money should be circulated around to create more business opportunities, employment, expenditures and to fuel the economy. Jessie J “PRICE TAG”
“It’s not about the money, money, money. We just wanna make the world dance.”

  2. The idiot is obviously, detached from the real world. He is living his life in his own world. And the worst thing is, he wants more people to live with him there.

Please. Dapat, we should “call a spade a spade.” Ano kaya ang mas angkop na term. Hmmm. The Chinese have a term for this. Kasi sa kanila, “bo” means “no, none, nothing,” Sa kanila nga natin nakuha ang term na “bobo” para sa mga …iyon nga, bobo! O, di ba? Please. Respect the ampaw.

  4. This is what we get, when people voted for the name (brand); instead of the capability of the candidate. The Aquinos built a Myth of themselves, thru the Oligarchs media. They changed books of History, to tell people; they are heroes and saints. They put their pictures on the currency. They built monuments, for themselves. They named government airport, schools and buildings, on their names. Even, a highway is proposed to be named on them.

If you look at the past. There are a lot of fabrications of their greatness. Where was the source of their wealth? How did they acquire those large tracks of lands? His grandfather was a known Japanese Imperial Army collaborator; convicted and sentenced by the Philippine Court. Ninoy Aquino, Jr., had an UNHOLY alliance with the NPA Mafia. His questioned disapppearance during the LP Plaza Miranda Bombing, is still in question…
Cory Aquino ia a bumbling housewife, who became Marcos successor. She had to depend on other people to run the country. Now, the son, Pnoy Aquino, is the same; clueless and “duwag”…he still have the nerve to tell people , how to choose Presidents…
